American economic policy has dominated most of the current national political campaign. As important as our Nation’s economic strength and vitality clearly must be, it cannot overshadow the role international affairs continues to play and, most definitely will play, in assuring our overall national well-being. Join us as former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice reflects on the world situation today, the unprecedented challenges before us, and why America must not forsake a strong leadership role in the international arena.

Soon the Senate will have an opportunity to ratify the New Strategic Arms Reduction Treaty, or New START, to continue mutual, verifiable nuclear weapons reductions in the U.S. and Russia. Although ratification has widespread bipartisan support among national security experts and military leaders, it is unclear what New START’s fate will be in today’s sharply polarized Senate. Please join us for remarks by former Senate Majority Leader Tom Daschle on the importance of New START to nuclear stability, global nonproliferation, and America’s international leadership. After his remarks, John Podesta will moderate a conversation on the politics and policy of New START between Sen. Daschle and nonproliferation expert Joseph Cirincione, president of the Ploughshares Fund.

PUBLIC TRANSIT: Length of Development Process, Cost Estimates, and Ridership Forecasts for Capital-Investment Grant Projects

Notes: Figure reflects data for 31 of 32 projects accepted into preliminary engineering (New Starts) or project development (Small Starts and Very Small Starts) on or after October 1, 2005, and awarded construction funding no later than March 31, 2013. Figure does not include data for Mid-City Rapid bus rapid transit project, as we could not obtain data on the date the locally preferred alternative was selected. For more information on these projects, see appendixes II and III.

For the purposes of this report, we define the development process as the activities related to the development of a New Starts, Small Starts or Very Small Starts project that occur between when a project sponsor’s identifies the project that FTA is to evaluate for funding (known as the locally preferred alternative) and the formal award of construction funding through a grant agreement. The pipeline, which is a sub-component of the overall development process, is defined as the period of time between when a project is accepted into the preliminary engineering (New Starts) or project-development (Small and Very Small Starts) phase and the final award of construction funding by FTA.

This originally was just an idea for my sister to run around with a sheet on her head. But after struggling over picking a photo to edit, and then looking at it, I thought I would try a conceptual approach. The darkness represents the girls dark past, and the white sheet and her flying represents escaping it.

The blank sheet could also represent a clean start, or a blank canvas yet to be discovered.

I am actually quite proud of this.

OH YEAH AND I GOT MY FILM CAMERA FIXED! Well technically, it wasn't ever broken. The man said that I needed to press this button on the bottom of my camera before taking out the film and it wouldn't tear. YAY.

And I got some new nice "portra" film that I can't wait to use!! Thanks mom!! <3

I'm pleased with myself today. Not only have I finished the 366, but I've taken a bold step to encourage my writing. From tomorrow, I no longer have a 9-5 to distract me from my dreams. 2021 will be make or break! Exciting :)

Dawn of another day,

*I was named for my grandfather, Van. Funny how I chased butterflies all over his farm, and years later found out that my name meant butterfly and that the butterflies I'd chased, shared my name. My mother gave me this ring many years ago, and after having my babies, I couldn't wear it. Fat fingers, ya know. Imagine my surprise when I pulled it out of the drawer and it slipped right on!*

I always keep dreaming of that part of my life where a new chapter will start.. where love will take over and take me on new adventures and even if me and whoever i am with are doing the most mundane things like going to the local supermarket to get food to be able to eat for the next week or so, it would be a bonnie and clyde situation and making so much fun and excitement in the world.

I had it once, It turned out i thought i had it but the same feeling wasn't reciprocated by the end of the relationship, and now nearing the end of another chapter of my life... I hope to be able to have it start up again as a sequel.
