Taken early morning on my way into HVC. The title is a quote from Matthew Prior, 17/18th century English poet," Hope is the dreams of those who wake."

New Year is always special - to some more than others. It is particularly special for Gavin and myself, as it marks the anniversary of a precious moment. It was as the bells were ringing in the first few seconds of 2006 that he and I shared our very first kiss.

This particular New Year's celebration has not really been as planned. We were meant to be in Scotland with Gavin's family, but unfortunately the weather has made it impossible. Throw in the fact that we are both full of cold and very disinclined to venture out of the front door (otherwise the theatre bar was looking very attractive!), we've had a somewhat uneventful and quiet time of it.

It may not be what we had planned - and it is the first New Year's Eve since I turned 18 (possibly longer!) where I haven't consumed any alcohol! But, despite being ill, there are many worse things than spending the evening alone with one's honey! Its actually been very lovely! :)

As for the photograph; so that all I would have to do come midnight was click the button, I set the shot up earlier in the evening, with Gavin's help, making full use of my existing equipment (including tripod and macro extension tubes), and some of my very shiny new Christmas presents - mini-studio, flashgun and various other lighting accessories! Santa has been very good to me this year! :D

The watch itself is special too. I have actually been without a watch for the last 6 years! So, when I unwrapped this present from my brother and his wife I was over the moon! I have so missed having a watch, but never felt justified in buying one for myself when I always had other means of telling the time! So, thank you Karl and Mandy!

And if all of that wasn't enough reason for this photograph, then I'd also like to add this. The last decade has contained much I would choose to forget. Marking the beginning of a new year and a new decade is a way of wiping the slate clean. What is done is done, and what is past is past. 2010 marks the beginning of my reclaiming of those valued things lost that may be reclaimed, a greater appreciation of the many wonderful things already existent in my life, and striving for a happier, more positive future.

Happy New Year everyone! May 2010 be good to you all. xxx

The perpetual annual conundrum… What 'is' one supposed to do between the 48 hour gift filled, sausage roll bloated Bacchanalian delights of Christmas and Boxing Day and the first of January. Suffice to say I bravely butched it out with a combination of box sets, turkey sandwiches, sloe gin and cold Christmas pudding. We conducted the annual Central London plush hunt (thanks Marvin), reacquainted ourselves with the rule of Risk and Scrabble (No Jeff, 'Qi' isn't a word), lost approximately 0.5 degrees of eyesight as a result of late night mariokart sessions (the guys are definitely myopic now) and I managed to coerce Nick's liver into a light and fluffy paté courtesy of a rather lovely few bottle of plonk.

To the present… the Fleurie is creeping up to room temperature, Nicks been peeling potatoes like some kind of tuber obsessed Hannibal Lectar and Jeff's turned into some kind of domestic fairy, looks like we're preparing for a serious NYE effort.

Its good to be back.

Birds flying high

You know how I feel

Sun in the sky

You know how I feel

Reeds driftin' on by

You know how I feel

It's a new dawn

It's a new day

It's a new life

For me

And I'm feeling good

Fish in the sea

You know how I feel

River running free

You know how I feel

Blossom in the tree

You know how I feel

It's a new dawn

It's a new day

It's a new life

For me

And I'm feeling good

This is my first picture of my new project “Goodbye Lullabies”. My most favorite song is Disenchanted of MCR, so I decided to take the photos about its meaning first. I keep listening to it over and over again to find what its true meaning is. “It’s just a sad song, with nothing to say, about a life long, wait a hospital stay. But if you think that I’m wrong, this never meant nothing to you!” At the end, I couldn’t find anything, which is really sad, so I just take photos about “disenchanted”: School, tests, and quizzes are really bored with me right now. I don’t want to do anything at all.

Btw, this is my first time I used phtoshop, so I know It's not good....:( I try more next time!

Even though I was on my way home from work I had to stop and think if I had ever seen the sunrise on New Years Day? Never. When you partake in the usual New Years Eve celebrations you are lucky if you see the mid day sun. Then you have kids and the late night parties come to an end. It has been five years since my last "real" New Years Eve bash. I was with my future wife (niether of us knew it then) the night was over, the bars had closed, and the partygoers spilled out onto the streets. We were desperately trying to hail a taxi home, along with the rest of town. After many failed attempts to procure transportation my bride to be took matters into her own hands. She stepped into the street in her three inch pumps and little black party dress and proceeded to stick her thumb out in the universal hitchhiker pose. Within moments a black Porshe stops beside her. The door swings open and a man asks if she wants a ride. She says yes and hops in, and then waves for me to get in too. I know it is not what the man has in mind, but he is a good sport and gives us a ride home anyway. That was some little black party dress.

Many prayers for 2021 A New Year a New Start. Not sure how this year will look but one thing is certain God is in control!!!!!
