Black-naped orioles can be found in South Asia, Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, the Philippines and Singapore.
They are the only orioles in Singapore.9 There are, however, two subspecies, though they are virtually indistinguishable in the field. The migratory population breeds in Indo-china and migrates into the north of the Malay Peninsula after the winter season. The residential population, which is a well-established species in Singapore, were a result of an invasion from Indonesia as well as escape of caged birds in the 1920s.
The black-naped oriole can be seen in green spaces such as parks and gardens and at the edge of forests. It is one of the most common bird species in Singapore and consistently makes the top 10 in the annual Singapore Bird Census.
Found this recently fledged Wilson's Warbler on the path at Burleigh Murray SP, it alighted on the path, and promptly tucked its head in for a nap! Very cute!
I have a favorite spot along the Thames River where I shoot flyby's of ducks and geese. Anyhow for several days I have been feeding this Mother Mallard and young chick. They easily take up close residence and preen or take a nap which gives me the opportunity to aim my camera and take it all in.Oh yes must mention about the baby ,he or she tucks their beak under their small stub of a wing. It is just like Mom as you can see with her beak tucked under her wing. This is part of his or her future development.

The lady beetle was having a nice afternoon nap until I came along poking my big obtrusive lens into her secret napping spot. She came out, said hello, and returned to her burrow and nap.
The lady beetle is an Asian, 7-spotted (C7) beetle (Coccinella septempunctata). The floral host is the umbel of Queen Anne's lace (Daucus carota).
When feeding in the outer foliage of the tallest eucalypts, the White-naped Honeyeater may sometimes be detected only by its characteristic shersh-shersh-shersh call. They mostly pecks tiny invertebrates from the foliage and the bark, though they also occasionally probe flowers with their bills to extract nectar. A migratory species, the White-naped Honeyeater sometimes forms flocks of hundreds or even thousands of birds when on the move, and often migrates with flocks of Yellow-faced Honeyeaters, flying just above the treetops as they move through an area.

Western Sandpiper - Esquimalt Lagoon, Colwood BC.
I had two surprises this day last summer. I had set myself up sitting near the waters edge hoping for a group of sandpipers to come a little closer. Was set-up with my 400 plus a 1.4X TC. They came really close - TOO close! I then VERY slowly removed my teleconverter somehow without spooking them.
They came closer. Then came the second surprise... barely 6 to 8 feet away from me a few elected to have a little nap! Wow! Never before or since have I been this close to the little guys. A great experience. :)
