Title: Lyrics from "Me and My Shadow" written by Dave Dreyer, Al Jolson, Billy Rose

I've dragged my shadow all my life

Faithfully behind. Neither made a sound.

Now, I'm my own true friend - MY shadow leads!

Discoveries and adventures abound.

Last week, my shadow guided me to the Montréal First Peoples Festival, "Présence Autochtone" at Place des Festivals. Another festival in Montréal! The evening was balmy as the sun was setting and Kimberley, Lorelei and I wandered about as each of our shadows ushered us around. Another adventure today!

"The turtle represents the sea world and her shell the earth’s crust, which she carries on her back."

This is just a small sample of what was to be seen at Place des Festivals, which was transformed by Michel Marsolais. "He has permeated it with the cosmic vision of the First Peoples and drawn upon the inspiration of contemporary Indigenous artists who convey the rich spiritual and artistic heritage of the land in their own style. Anishnabe artist Caroline Monnet ( carolinemonnet.ca ) of the AM collective designed the striking and luminous visual identity for the site; Athanore assisted her in her multimedia creation."

A major earthquake hit New Zealand's second biggest city Christchurch early on Saturday, bringing down power lines, ripping up roads and wrecking building facades, but authorities reported no deaths.

Authorities declared a formal civil defense state of emergency to coordinate recovery operations in the city, which has a population of about 350,000 people, after facades collapsed into streets, crushing cars and blocking roads. Two men suffered serious injuries and police closed off the central business district.

The earthquake had a magnitude of 7.1 and a depth of 10 kms (6 miles), hitting the South Island city and a large surrounding area of farms at around 4.35 a.m. local time.

We woke Saturday morning to this news which has gripped the whole nation. Here are a few photos of the city which I took in 2003 while visiting Craig's parents, who were living down there at the time. We have other friends living there too. There has been extensive damage, and especially to a number of the beautiful old Historic Buildings... but thankfully and miraculously no fatalities or major casualties.

I guess this is the only way I'll ever be tall and slim, LOL! (OK, you people who know me - enjoy your smiles). Went for a beautiful walk in Fish Creek Park this afternoon, knowing that our weather is about to change drastically. Bitterly cold temperatures and more snow are going to be moving in. Apparently, it is supposed to be -29C (-20.2F) on Sunday morning (don't even want to think about what the wind chill temperature will be!!!), ready for the Christmas Bird Count. I will not chicken out, I will not chicken out, I will not chicken out.......

there are socks under my crocs

this is my "shadow art".

I've lived here for six years and I had no idea there's an enormous Edwardian pergola and hill garden open to the public at the top of the Heath.

Taken on the warmest day of the year so far.

Looking east at a screen. All the speaker posts were removed and only the wires came up out of the ground.

Right after taking this shot an employee from the Rona site next door came over and asked me what I was doing. I told him I was taking pictures of the old abandoned site. He said it belonged to Rona and that I was trespassing on their property and that needed permission to be there. He then asked me to finish up and leave right away. I was already to leave anyway cuz the battery had died in the camera. (LOL)

If somebody hates the thing that badly it probably wouldn't be very hard to chop it down altogether.

Shit ain't nobody is ever gonna get any nice shade from that thing if people keep doing that to it.
