"We spent an absolutely glorious weekend in Parksville in early October. So many things to see and do even at the end of the "season". On the way home we went whale watching and saw these Orcas and about 40 others by Texada Island." - Aileen Dixon, 2012 myPQB Story Contest

Night Rocks and Water

Favourites Series: Rocks and Water

From the Archives Dec 2020

Nikon z9, 14mm, 8 sec, f/2.8, ISO 800

This archive shot was taken when we were still in Covid lockdown and I ventured out to get some night long exposure shots. There was something so calm and quiet on those nights, very little traffic or people out and about. Light reflecting from day’s last light on water and Qualicum town glow sparkling on the rocky shore.

Two Goofball Photographers

Nikon z9, 74mm (NIKKOR Z 70-200mm f/2.8 VRS), 1/250s, f/8, ISO 640

Just two goofball photographers out chasing King Tide Waves…. Too bad Qualicum didn’t have any huge waves this morning, but we still had fun dodging the little fast rollers.

Thanks for following my work. I’m on FB, IG, Flickr, Twitter, and Vero. Website in bio.

Misty Rocks and Water

Favourites Series: Rocks and Water

From the Archives Dec 2022

Nikon z9, 29mm, 60 sec, f/11, ISO 100

This deep dive into my archives lately has given me some great ideas for photoshoots, but I realized there thousands of photos I have never shared. Sure there are similar scenes, but so many sweet places to revisit. This is one of my favourite spots to shoot at the Qualicum Waterfront that incorporates rocks and water. I could photograph this spot every day for a year and it would never be the same twice. Sort of like the moments in our lives, don’t you agree?

"Coming in for a landing! Such a beautiful bird and they are plentiful here. You can often see them at the shoreline just waiting for that right moment to pounce down on fish for dinner." - Lorene Kimura, 2016 myPQB Story Contest

"We spent an incredible Canada Day at Parksville's shores. Taking in the sights and sounds of the celebration at Parksville Community Park with our two boys and their cousins from Regina was incredible! I have never felt more Canadian as I did sitting on the shoreline watching the fireworks with the most breathtaking ocean scenery all around. We live in Burnaby, but Oceanside is our 'home away from home'. We choose to come back every year to take in the tranquil, idealic settings and watch our sons run - in pure joy - across the sandy beach with crabs under their toes.... This Canada Day was the topper. Perfect in every way. We'll see you next year!" - Jamie Laga, 2015 myPQB Story Contest

"This is my husband sitting on his log at Qualicum Beach, celebrating his sixtieth birthday. Well, his birthday is not until December but like he says, it is hard to get a group together then as the ocean winds will be blowing his ponytail sideways. He calls this his Fool's Paradise. I said, "no hon', OLD fool's paradise to you now. Love you hon'." - Linda Young, 2014 myPQB Story Contest

"Watching a candid family moment on Qualicum Beach. " - Jorge Castillo, 2013 myPQB Story Contes

"Going Back to the Sea!" - Sandra Sholberg, 2012 myPQB Story Contest

"We have lived here for about four years and love it. There is always something to do or just walks on the beach or the many forest pathways is being able to enjoy nature at its most beautiful. The island has so much to offer be it rain or shine. Feel very blessed to live here. The picture was taken on a foggy day during the herring run. Hard to tell were the ocean begins as sky and water blend together. It was great to watch." - Elzien Schopman, 2016 myPQB Story Contest
