"Taking the boys out fishing while we were camping at Horne Lake. The lake is so clear you can see to the bottom. The weather didn't stop the fun that day." - Sara Evans, 2016 myPQB Story Contest
Beautiful BC Rivers

With all the chaotic images coming at you on your social media feeds, I thought a little tranquil beautiful BC River shot might be a nice break. Take a few moments to breathe in some riverside peacefulness.

"Tide coming in May 2009 at Qualicum Beach. The light had a silvery quality and the water was calm. Nice time for a walk on the beach." - Suzy Castillo, 2013 myPQB Story Contest.

Doesn’t this remind you of an athlete sliding to make the play? I wish I had the dexterity of a dog. Nikki loved the snow today - even cuddling up to a snowbank haha. Did you get out and play in the snow today?

I don’t know what is trickier: shooting in snow, or shooting a fast-moving dog after throwing the ball and then grabbing the camera to get her photo? At any rate, here’s a little fun series of playing ball in the snow with Nikki.

"My wife and I love to go for lunch at the Pacific Shores Resort and have a walk along the beach there. It appears that the round boulders were shaped by the lava flow they were laying in." - Ron Geen, 2012 myPQB Story Contest
"Lived in Vancouver our whole lives... Our fav weekend getaway is riding the ferries on the top deck enjoying the scenery and staying in Parksville.
We take our chairs and kites and beverages and play at the beach all day. This summer we camped for 4 days at Rathtrevor with an almost beachfront campground.
Stress is a big part in our demanding lifestyles. Parksville is our local calming influence that helps put life back into proper perspective for us... I love the Island and B.C."

Pure Happiness

So, we have a little gas golf cart to get around our property (we have 18 acres), and the grandkids love to use it to practice their driving skills. I learned to drive on my dad’s lap in his jeep, and then with my brother in his truck. I think these kiddos who learn to drive on golf carts will definitely be a step ahead on their skills. To me, my favourite part of all this is to see their happiness!

Submitted to the 2012 myPQB Story Contest by Sasha Redmann - "Stellar day at Parksville Beach....we couldn't have asked for better weather on our trip!!!!!"
"This photo exemplifies my experiences in Parksville and Qualicum Beach. To me it represents the life and energy I witnessed in my time there.
I grew up in Saskatchewan and moved to Vancouver Island in late summer of 2011. My very first stop off of the ferry was Rathtrevor Beach (where this photo was taken) and Parksville. I instantly fell in love. So much in fact that I moved to Parksville in the spring of 2012 and stayed there until the annual pull of university brought me back to Victoria for the winter.
During the summer I had time to explore both Parksville and Qualicum Beach to my heart's content and let me tell you, my heart was more than content. The summer I spent exploring the area, always with something to offer, whether it be swimming at the magnificent Parksville Beach, Craig Street Market on a hot Tuesday night, or hiking Little Qualicum Falls until there was no where left to hike.
Parksville and Qualicum Beach gave me the best summer of my 23 year life. I always have a yearning to return and as soon as university frees me from its semestrial grasp, I will."
- Marcus Kydd, 2012 myPQB Story Contest
"Nothing better than making a sandcastle, having the warm water come in to destroy it, then having an awesome swim to end the day!!!" - Susan Watson, 2013 myPQB Story Contest
Nana’s Photographic Tales: Qualicum Night Lights

Moving onto more night shots from my archives. This is looking across the Bay if my home town Qualicum Beach. I love these colours and reflections of land and water. There’s something wonderful about sitting on our bay and just feeling all that is home.

"This has to be one of my personal faves. The clouds have this stunning form of a dove overlooking Qualicum Beach." - Crystal Davis, 2014 myPQB Story Contest
"Our family loves Parksville/Qualicum because both my husbands parents and my parents live there. The memories that our family has been able to make there are amazing. Our favorite thing to do is to spend hours on the beaches exploring and having a taco picnic (LOVE Tidal Tacos!). Parksville and Qualicum will always hold a special spot in ours kids hearts and of course ours." - Kaitlen Smith, 2016 myPQB Story Contes
Submitted by Tim Ansley to the 2012 myPQB Story Contest: "My wife and I visited Tigh-Na-Mara Resort 3 years ago, just a couple of months before the birth of our first son. "Fun times with daddy on their pirate island searching for treasure! They hit the jackpot and found a few sand dollars.
Perfect for a little 3 year old to run and explore the natural world with no boundaries! Crabs, starfish, seals, jellyfish, soft sand that just goes on and on... a true toddler paradise!" - Karitas Townsend, 2013 myPQB Story Contest
"A walk in Little Qualicum Falls is like a spiritual happening. Stayed 4 months in Parksville and returning for 5 months, the Island gets under your skin." - Mies van de Leygraaf, 2015 myPQB Story Contest
Wobbly Dock
•
This dock was part of a panorama I posted a few days ago, but I figured it needed a feature all of its own. It was a bit wobbly to walk out on - especially with all my camera gear - but what a great location!

"Sending Christmas Love to Fort McMurray from Vancouver Island. Their first Xmas after losing it all. Some island produced Xmas ornaments for those who lost their homes. We are originally from Slave Lake and saw the devastation when our own town burned down. It's nice to give back." - Angela Grocholsk, 2016 myPQB Story Contest
