This zoomed in close up of bear #2 shows off his two coloured face and a nose scratch with his back paw. We stayed with this one for a while as he scavenged barnacles off the rocks.

While photographing bears, there are always quiet moments during the wait. Nothing shows the serenity of being deep in the wild away from the busyness of everyday life than a quiet swim of a Canadian Goose.

With so many eagles in the sky sometimes you have to remember to look in the trees. This one eagle had a great catch and the fellow eagle watched wondering if the other might share. Such fun animal behaviour to observe.

Bear Sightings Begin
.
I have rarely seen black bears during grizzly tours except on the drive. This trip was totally different. We saw a grand total of 8 black bears on the way out to Knight Inlet. This is bear #1. We didn’t get close enough to have a zoom shot, but just seeing it tumbling rocks on the shoreline early in the morning was fun.

More work on my current star trail… 700+ shots with things to correct… encouraged by the smoothness of the trails and purple colours… Next task is going one by one on still shots to cull airplane trails, cloud cover, and any other flaws before running star trail again. Stay tuned.

Here is a single shot from the star trail I shared yesterday. To make the star trail the camera took photos for about two hours and when stacked together show the movement of stars through that time frame. Building trails is one of my favourite things to create!

It is time for a new project and as I don’t have a trip coming up for a while, I researched ideas for photo story ideas. There are many amazing suggestions, a lot that I have already done, but definitely one I have never done - and consequently, the one that scares me the most. Self Portrait Story. Not one to ever like my own photo, especially as I see myself aging, I figured this would be a challenge for me. Here goes…. Today is Self Portrait 1.
