British Rail Class 745 25kV 12 car Electric Multiple Unit (EMU) 745110 working the 1P27 10:00 (10:40 RT) Greater Anglia Norwich- London Liverpool Street service train southbound at Ipswich Station on the Great Eastern Main Line in the County of Suffolk (UK).

The Class 745 EMU's were a direct replacement in early 2020 for the ageing 30 year old plus Class 90 electric locomotives and their slam door British Rail Mk3b coaches which previously worked the Norwich- London Liverpool Street express services.

745110 was built by Stadler Rail at their facility in Bussnang Switzerland as one of the Stadler 'FLIRT' (Fast Light Intercity and Regional Train) modular family of trainsets.

Note the Dellner type coupling system in the big ugly hole at the front of the trains. The Dellner coupling is a version of the Scharfenberg coupler which connects pneumatics and electronics at the same point of contact.

Greater Anglia had an option to have a cover fitted in these coupling holes by Stadler but declined for cost and ease of maintenance reasons.

Another one of my accidental multiple exposures, this one during my shoot with colleague Laura.

4x5 Speed Graphic with one of my weird Petzvalesque lenses and probably the Aero-Ektar too. Hard to tell and I can't remember.

A multiple exposure of people crossing a footbridge. Where do they go, what are they thinking, what are their feelings? We will never know.

Multiple exposure for photography :)

Monterey, California

March 2011

Here's another old postcard of Bawtry High Street, surely one of the most photographed streets in the UK for postcards! This is the fourth I have obtained along with one old slide, and most seem to feature the garage we see here on the right. Despite it being unclear it must be Bartons garage as I know for a fact it was earlier than this and later than this! This image must date from the early 1950s, the garage is still selling a variety of brands, but it's mainly the vehicles that to me suggest it is post war rather than pre-war. The oldest image I have of this garage is from the early 1930s when they were selling Pratts among other brands, but here it's Esso so after 1934 at the very earliest. I guess it might even have been taken during the war. Later on Bartons would sell Regent petrol only into the 1960s and subsequently move their premises across the road to where there was a Jet garage in the 1960s. These sites were two of at least four garages situated along this stretch of the High Street by the 1960s as seen in another of the old postcards I have. All of them are added below in chronological order.

The garage seen here is now occupied by an opticians!

Trying out multiple exposures with this Friday the 13th style hockey mask. Its visible enough if you look closely. Its a bit hard to get shots right just by myself.

Nikon F4. AF Nikkor 24mm F2.8D lens. ADOX Silvermax 100 35mm B&W film.

I have absolutely no idea where this was except probably in the Croydon area of Surrey. They still exist today but I believe had several sites in this era and this doesn't look like the site they have today. You can read more about them in the present day on their website where they show some nice period images of them selling Jet petrol from very early on.

Edit update:- Sorry that link is now broken

Edit Update:- Thanks to comment from Keith below, location now known. It looks nothing like this there now! A nursing home is now where the garage was and the whole area is so built up now it's not at all recognisable.

Sure, with the arrival of digital photography multiple exposures have become easy. Will try a complex one some time later.

This was taken a few months ago on a wet windy winters day.

Zack really enjoyed looking into the camera. Now he's too old and wants to play with it.

camera note: i got a new camera! the much anticipated canon EOS 40D. i still need to master all the new buttons, but so far i'm very happy.

of course, i still have a rather large backlog of photos taken with the rebelXT, so you'll be seeing it's work for some time to come.

Spotted this unusual Graffiti in one of the alleyways in Montmartre, Paris. Wasn't sure whether to go with the colour or B&W version, but I think this version has the edge.
