The cordoned off section right in front of the Golden Temple in Amritsar. There is a underground plaza being constructed right in front of the Golden Temple, and the construction has been going on for quite some time and you can see some of the undergound levels. This is a photo of iron girders extruding from a concrete section along with multiple workers at the site. These workers are cutting and polishing marble slabs, and you can also see buildings on the side.
The Golden Temple is one of the most famous monuments in Amritsar, in the state of Punjab in North India. It is the spiritiual headquarters of the Sikh religion, and is a very well visited place. Besides Sikhs, people from other religions visit the temple, it being an open place. The temple is also referred to as the Harmandir Sahib or the Darbar Sahib, and was built during the 16th century by the fifth Sikh Guru (completed in the year 1604), Guru Arjan Dev around a holy tank. Earlier to this, in 1577, the fourth Guru, Guru Ram Das ji excavated a tank which came to be known as Amritsar. The Harmandir Sahib symbolizes openess, and has four doors to depict the same. Over a period of time, modifications were done, such as the layering of gold over the dome by the ruler of the time, Maharajah Ranjit Singh.
The holy nature of the Golden Temple is also symbolized by the presence of the Holy Book of the Sikhs, the Guru Granth Sahib. The central structure of the Gurudwara is surrounded by a holy tank of water, with a causeway over this body of water. There are some restrictions for entering the site, such as the removal of shoes before entering (and washing ones feet in a small pool of water as well), covering the hair through a scarf or some other cloth, and ensuring that they show proper respect towards the central shrine.
The Golden Temple is also the location for a major military operation (Operation Blue Star in 1984), where the Indian Army went in against Sikh militants lead by Jarnail Singh Bhindrawale inside the compound of the Golden Temple, with bullets and even machine guns inside the compound. The operation was a major operation, with the death of more than 500 people reported (including soldiers, militants and civilians). It was also very controversial, since this was seen as an attack on the spiritual center of Sikhs, and lead to some desertions in the army, and also an attack on the Prime Minister, Indira Gandhi, by her own Sikh bodyguards which resulted in her death.
There's evidence of three consecutive years of moose browse on this red maple sapling. The straight gray twig was from 2 years ago, then the lateral sprouts were browsed last year, and then the most recent sprouts were browsed in the last few weeks!

Date with Self is something I've done for almost ten years. I enjoy going out for dinner with a good book. I've never needed someone else to enjoy a great meal. One of the hardest things is spending time with yourself. You'd be amazed how much you can enjoy your own company.
Early learning childcare centre springs up as a comfort resort to future-forward parents. A popular one in the capital city is certainly Bindu Batra’s Sparkle Minds. Such centres are dedicated to introducing children to an authentic learning experience that not just nurtures the young minds but works towards increasing a child’s fondness for lifetime learning.

Ran into a guy on the Marietta Square today who told me that his New Year’s resolution was to “take care of number one,” as he pointed to himself. I replied that I had multiple personalities and would not know which one to choose. He just shook his head and walked away from me … and my other personalities.
I wanted to avoid the "trees coming out of my head" look, so I tried to accomplish the reflection through a window if that makes sense? like how you can see through a window but sometimes also see your reflection? that was my goal.

Since beginning classes in August, 80 first year medical students at the Hofstra North Shore-LIJ School of Medicine have been training as emergency medical technicians, working shifts on North Shore-LIJ ambulances and responding to 911 calls. Their training culminated recently in a Multiple Casualty Incident (MCI) conducted at the FDNY Training Center at Randall’s Island. Students were expected to provide emergency care during several different emergency exercises, which were all followed by full debriefing.
The MCI day was coordinated by the Fire Department of the City of New York at the department’s Training Academy on Randall’s Island, where more than 2,000 fire fighters and EMS personnel are trained each year.

How I took three shots on the same frame I will never know, perhaps the radiation got to me. Anyway, this is me, on Sizewell beach.

Introduced in 1957, the 20 103 two-car diesel multiple-units were amongst the earliest first generation DMUs. Although commonly described as Park Royal sets, they were ordered from British United Transport and built at the Crossley Motor Works in Stockport.
Being non-standard in relation to later types and suffering severe body corrosion, they were early candidates for withdrawal by the early 1980s. Several were preserved but a number of these have since fallen by the wayside; others entered departmental service. RDB 975089/90 (the former 503096/162) were used by the Railway Technical Centre at Derby as its Laboratory No 5 (sometimes as hauled stock) until scrapped in 1991. This digital representation is based on one of the preserved sets that was initially preserved at the West Somerset Railway (07-Sep-24).

Playing around with a tripod and a few different shots of Gemma and I. It looks a bit rough. I either need a new, more solid tripod or else a way to ensure the camera doesn't move.

In this picture of the Wolfe Ranch in Arches N.P., you can see the root celler in the background. It was dug into the side of a hill to provide a cooler spot to store perishables. However, 'cooler' is a relative term, as this location gets buring hot in the summer time (and very cold in the winter). Imagine Wolfe's daughter raising to young children here? Actually, she did demand something from her father when she moved here. She made him build this 'more modern' cabin with a wood floor. He and his son had been living in a smaller one with dirt for a floor.

Took this using the Remote Live View function on my 40D.
Pointed the camera at the monitor and stuck my face in between.
