Throughout our lives, we search for home. My husband's job brought us to a new town and it was time to search again. We didn't want to buy a house others had fixed up to match their dreams. We wanted one we could invest our creativity and energy in.
While our Realtor was talking on the phone, I thumbed through the blue Multiple Listings book on the desk in front of me and there it was! We bought our 3-story 1895 Victorian fixer-upper... and the adventure began.
We pulled up the kitchen linoleum and discovered rotted joists and studs had been eaten by termites. All three floors had to be rewired and replumbed. We'd wake up in the middle of the night suddenly realizing how we could fish a wire or run a pipe. We stripped, burned, scraped, painted and wallpapered. We laid stone for a wildflower wall and built a Koi pond.
As part of my Master's Degree, I designed and built new kitchen cabinets with a pull-out pastry island, created stoneware dishes, containers and wall hangings. Our 212 renovation was the subject of numerous articles and honors. And it was home for our kids during their early school years.

Draft manuscript is in one binder, image list with captions in another binder, plus a printout of excerpts from the 19th-century Frank Reade dime novels and various reference articles. I also kept our Boilerplate book handy so I could cross-reference key dates, since the characters appear in each other's books.

There's evidence of three consecutive years of moose browse on this red maple sapling. The straight gray twig was from 2 years ago, then the lateral sprouts were browsed last year, and then the most recent sprouts were browsed in the last few weeks!
Date with Self is something I've done for almost ten years. I enjoy going out for dinner with a good book. I've never needed someone else to enjoy a great meal. One of the hardest things is spending time with yourself. You'd be amazed how much you can enjoy your own company.

The Military Historical Museum of Artillery, Engineers and Signal Corps, also known simply as the Artillery Museum, is a state-owned military museum in Saint Petersburg, Russia. Its collections, consisting of Russian military equipment, uniforms and decorations, are hosted in the Kronverk (a crownwork) of the Peter and Paul Fortress situated on the right bank of the Neva near Alexander Park. The museum is managed by the Russian Ministry of Defence.

A Tűzérségi Hadtörténeti Múzeum Szentpéterváron a Péter-Pál erőd folyó túlpartján lévő Kronwerk-jében található, rengeteg érdekes kiállítási tárggyal, géppel, ágyúval, tankkal, festménnyel, egyenruhákkal, stb. A múzeum ma is a Védelmi Minisztériumhoz tartoik, és az orosz nemzet igazi büszkesége - bár maga az épület sajnos nagyon lepusztult állapotban van. A belépőn próbáltam spórolni, de már az "ágyin bilét" mondatommal is gyanút keltettem a pénztárosban, majd amikor rákérdezett, elárultam, hogy Magyarországról jöttem és kifizettem a többszörös külföldieknek megszabott belépődíjat...
BM-30 Smerch or 9A52-2 Smerch-M is a Soviet heavy multiple rocket launcher. The system is designed to defeat personnel, armored, and soft-skinned targets in concentration areas, artillery batteries, command posts and ammunition depots. It was created in the early 1980s and entered service in the Soviet Army in 1989. When first observed by the West in 1983, it received the code MRL 280mm M1983.
