Ugh - fashion breakdown. I had both blue jeans and a denim jacket. It was raining when I left home and I knew it was supposed to be warm & that we were sitting on a deck all day. I thought what if they've got it wrong and it's cold. My denim jacket is actually wool, so I popped it on at the last minute instead of a rain jacket..
The red lines are almost a representation of a broken line of fate, the red string shared by two people. Idk it made sense in my head.
200111: I was at the hairdresser - when I called Robert afterwards, he asked if I had short hair now? I answered no, but said I would do it someday. Thereupon he made a very long monologue that he would rather not want that. Not because he doesn't like short hair, but because he believes that short hair is more difficult to style. I "dug out" a very old beanie again. It is a real 70s beanie from Ergee (Ergee Starline), of course 100% polyacrylic.

200111: Ich war beim Friseur - als ich Robert anschließend anrief, fragte er, ob ich nun kurze Haare hätte? Ich antwortete mit nein, sagte aber, dass ich das irgendwann mal tun würde. Daraufhin hielt er einen sehr langen Monolog, dass er das lieber nicht möchte. Nicht, weil ihm kurze Haare nicht gefallen, sondern weil er glaubt, dass kurze Haare aufwendiger zu stylen sind. Die Mütze habe ich mal wieder "ausgegraben". Es ist eine echte 70der-Jahre-Mütze von Ergee (Ergee Starline), selbstverständlich 100% Polyacryl.

6/8/12 Heading toward the zoo on a sunny Friday afternoon, the top down on my Miata, I suddenly remembered that it was June, and that meant the Phinney Farmer’s Market was now open. I was having so much fun that I hardly noticed how dark the sky was growing until the shadows I was planning to paint disappeared. A woman watching me sketch smiled and said, “You’d better hurry and finish painting before it rains,” pointing to the dark clouds. I made a few quick purchases, still holding my sketchbook open to dry, and got the top up on my car just before the drops started to fall. (Copic Multiliner SP pen, watercolor)

I tend to do these cards in batches. I sent the first four to my partners, but this is one I kept for myself. I now have a set of twelve different colors displayed in a shadowbox in my living room.

I used a Copic Multiliner Pen .8 to outline the girl, .3 to outline the cards and necklace. Forgot to color the backs of the cards before I scanned! I am using Shinhan Touch Twin markers for shading, a white Uni-Ball Signo pen for highlights, and .3 multiliner pen for eyelashes.

I have adapted her process so that when firstI sit down to create the first few layers, I take my time.
Supplies used: Derwent Inktense, Golden fluid acrylics, Steward Gill paint, Copic multiliner and collage element by Tangie McMeen Baxter. I am loving it.

trying out the new copic multiliner pens on tracing paper over an old pencil sketch that had been damaged by the months of shuffling in my disorganized portfolio files. thinking when i get time (after xmas) i'll retrace it again, the nose is too heavy here and the eyes are kinda off-kilter
#1 - Not quite a "photo of the day", but still a moment from my day.
Drawing comics full time is a rather sedentary activity. In the past few months, I've been noticing my growing midriff poking through my shirts. -___-;
My.. er.. temporary solution is to pull out the haramaki my mom made after my surgery in June '08. But Scott's right, it doesn't solve my problem at all. ^^;

I chose this bottle of fish sauce for the graphic qualities of the red label against the nearly black sauce. And not too much complications on the label either!
Ayam Brand is an Indonesian brand. Ayam means chicken. I was surprised how much of their stuff I have. I stamped it with my chop that I had carved in 1982 at a Hangzhou Calligraphers' Guild. Unfortunately though I have two lots of ink, they have dried up and I need more.
This was a tattoo commission I did for my dear friend Kunoichi. She asked me to design a backpiece for her doll, and here it is. I'm still working on redrawing it all on the doll.

191202: When I posted my cheesecake picture, @mel_lettering asked me if I had used Van Gogh's dusk colors. Nope, I did not used them. But that was a nice opportunity to get those colors and try them out. I have not regretted it, the colors have great effects.

191202: Als ich mein Cheesecake-Bild gepostet hatte, fragte @mel_lettering, ob ich die Dusk-Farbtöne von Van Gogh verwendet hatte. Nö, hatte ich nicht. Aber das war ein schöner Anlass, mir diese zuzulegen und auszuprobieren. Zum Glück kann ich die direkt vor Ort bei Hugo Hamann in Kiel kaufen und muss nicht erst warten, bis eine Onlinebestellung eintrudelt. Ich habe es nicht bereut, die Farben sind toll changierend.

Who could resist drawing an automatic jiggling machine? It was used in tuna fishing. The cannon is from the Endeavour. Both at the National Maritime Museum.
We had lunch in Hyde Park in the heart of Sydney, then found some seats under a tree and I drew the fountain while Liz drew St Mary's Cathedral. I was running out of Peerless greens, so I had to beef up the dark greens when I got home.
This was drawn with my new Copic Multiliner (black - 0.5). I really like this pen. You can replace both the nib and the ink.
Oh yes, not sure why I'm not writing anything with these sketches. I think because I just started with the pen, zoomed in and didn't leave room. I don't mind as long as there's no white space.
200115: I am currently absolving a dentist marathon to save my defect incisor. I have decided against an implant or a bridge, but for a measure where the tooth does not have to be extracted. The treatment is lengthy; first a root canal treatment has to be done, then a magnetic extrusion to create a space between the tooth and the bone. The final result will (eventually...) be a crown that is fixed to a fiberglass rod in the root of the tooth.

200115: Ich absolviere gerade einen Zahnarztmarathon, um meinen kaputten Schneidezahn zu retten. Ich habe mich gegen ein Implantat oder eine Brücke entschieden, sondern für eine Maßnahme, bei der der Zahn nicht gezogen werden muss. Die Behandlung ist langwierig; zuerst muss eine Wurzelbehandlung gemacht werden, dann eine Magnetextrusion, um einen Abstand zwischen Zahn und Knochen herzustellen. Das Endergebnis wird (irgendwann...) eine Krone sein, die an einem Glasfaserstab in der Zahnwurzel befestigt wird.

An illustration for a zine of Andrew Galan’s Zine Frank Herbert’s Boys Brigade. The zine will be constructed/published in early February. It will follow Andrew to festivals and readings and be available at the Sticky Institute in Melbourne and Smith’s Alternative Bookshop in Canberra.
