the light lines are my prelim drawing using a copic multiliner 0.1 cool grey. i use this rather than pencil because i tend to erase too much. i then go in with a micron 0.1 black pen (if needed i will change the image to meet my desires). so every thing is permanent. more fun this way.

It was REALLY cold last night when I drew my foot.

This is the title banner for a project I am working on. I used acrylic paints, inks, Copic markers and Tim Holtz letter masks on Strathmore paper.

Inspiration: I found myself baby-sitting my 3 year old niece for the day

Result: Lily napping

Materials: Pentel 0.3 HB, Copic MultiLiner SP 0.03, Platinum Carbon Fountain Pen in a Stillman & Birn Gamma series sketchbook ( 21.6 cm 27.9 cm / 8 1/2" x 11")

Location: Home

Note: My niece was feeling under the weather and couldn't attend preschool. The little sweetie spent most of the day napping in a sunny room on the couch beside me as I read. I took the opportunity to practice ...

The Copic 0.03 is definitely too small to use outside smooth papers like that of the Epsilon series as the very fine tip catches too much and I'm sure would decrease the life span of the pen. Having said that the Gamma, like the Alpha series from Stillman & Birn take to the fountain pen very well but for my heavily lined work I will stick to the Epsilon and soon to be released Zeta series. I am hopeful that at some point this company will also introduce a smooth surfaced ivory paper for ink. It would be interesting to draw in sepia on ivory....

ANYway I am now officially 1/3 of the way through my year long project!

A very rough sketch done while waiting for a couple of friends at a cafe in copenhagen. I'm trying to use colored copic multiliners instead of black for some of my sketches, I kinda like the more muted look the drawings get from it.

Trying out Daniel Smith's Watercolour Ground (should have used 2 coats). Playing with "bubble effect"(http://quinncreative.wordpress.com/2011/07/17/bubble-background-tutorial/) and airbrush acrylics, Veritas pencil and Conte chalks.

drew this, put some copic multiliner, but lunchtimes are short (well, you have to eat as well as draw, you see)

Walking past a McDonalds restaurant the other day, seen a massive fat beast eating like an animal and it got me really annoyed haha!

But I guess he was an inspiration :)

A quick sketch of my desk at work. There are tons of folders and stacks of papers. There's a fresh Pentalic watercolor sketchbook gotta fill up those pages. The entire sketch was done with a Copic Multiliner Pen in Black 0.3

I found this really great old house in Long Beach California's Wilmore district. The house had just been relocated for preservation and is currently in a sad looking state with no landscaping or inhabitants. I liked the house so much I thought it needed a story so I created this view of how the home could have looked in 1907 with John and Mary as the residents and a lovely landscaped yard. The caption would be "John and Mary had been married for just one short year and today they had their first disagreement, having to do with a ride through the muddy streets of Long Beach and the sale of a perfectly good horse"this is part of my Long Beach homes collection.

Yesterday the Sydney Sketch Meetup group gathered in Martin Place to draw the big Christmas Tree there. I planned to draw the tree in watercolour only and the background in pen only. However, that made the tree in the background look bare, and it's not, because it's summer here. Hence the colour.

Materials: Pentel 0.3 HB, Copic MultiLiner SP 0.03 in a Stillman & Birn Epsilon series sketchbook ( 21.6 cm 27.9 cm / 8 1/2" x 11")

Location: Home

Note: My 12 year old son and I have been watching a lot of Dr. Who lately and it's become a running joke around the house to just randomly proclaim that 'bow ties are cool!' I'm sure the owl Doctor has been done a bazillion times before but I just had to get it out of my system :)

This truck was so gorgeous and red and so very very shiny. It was also near a big shady area, so it was the first vehicle I chose to draw. I've never drawn a motor vehicle before, I don't think. It was Australia Day and very very hot and the area around Hyde Park was crammed with vitage cars. Quite a sight to see. A shame I couldn't stay longer.
