..another one from last saturday's 'light bulb' session.

My first multi-night image, using frames taken in May and July 2021

1 stack of 105 60s images, Canon 800D at ISO 800, Canon 400mm f5.6 lens at f6.3, iOptron Skyguider Pro tracker. 50 darks, 120 biases. Processed in PixInsight as below

* CC defect list + master dark (sigma = 8)

15*(1-(FWHM-FWHMMin)/(FWHMMax-FWHMMin))

+ 15*(1-(Eccentricity-EccentricityMin)/(EccentricityMax-EccentricityMin))

+ 20*(SNRWeight-SNRWeightMin)/(SNRWeightMax-SNRWeightMin)

* ESD integration, range exclude

* drizzle integration, gaussian kernel

*****Linear processing

*** Initial

* Crop

* DBE tolerance 3, manually placed points outside the dust clouds

*** Color calibration

* PCC using a dust cloud as background, aimed at Triffid, background ref upper limit 0.002

* SNCR 0.8 green

*** Decon

* Using EZDecon, create the following:

* PSF - autogen

* background - autogen, then invert, range selection lower 0.03 smoothness 49, clean with clone stamp, range mask again, invert again - background_range_mask

* star mask: extract luminance, run EZSoftStretch, star mask noise treshhold 0.3 scale 9 smoothness 8 aggregate binarize. Add a couple of ellipses, 2x convolve - decon_star_mask

*** Denoise

Using jonrista.com/the-astrophotographers-guide/pixinsights/eff... as implemented by EZSuite.

* TGV edge protection 3e-5, default MMT

***** Nonlinear processing

*** Initial stretch

* MaskedStretch, default settings

* extract luminance, stretch with shadows 0.05 mids 0.4, apply as mask inverted, stretch mids to 0.3

* ACDNR chrominance only, lightness mask, stdev 4 iterations 6mids 0.2 on lightness mask

***MLT stretch

www.stelleelettroniche.it/en/2014/09/astrophoto/m42-ngc19...

**Initial (fine details)

* created a new multiscale linear transform, kept 6 layers

* diffed from original image to create a "blurred" version of original image

* extracted luminance from original, used as mask on blurred version

* used curves to pump rgb and saturation

* pixelmath sum the 3, rescaled, back to original image

**Second (nebula)

* created a new multiscale linear transform, kept 6 layers, and diff from original

* extract luminance from diff Use as mask on blurred version

* s-shaped luminance curve, gentle, big sat boost

* pixelmath sum the 3, rescaled, back to original image

*** Finishers

* Star reduce with EZscript, 8 layers of morpho

* With the previous star mask on (raw), unsharp mask with default settings)

* Dark structure enhancement

* EZDenoise, default settings TGV, no MMT

* pump up sat in reds and blues

* MMT sharpen, 6 layers biases 0.1 0.1 0.05 0.05 0.25 0.12

* downsample 3x

Human beings are complicated creatures. Each individual has multilayers in his/her personality. No one is simply one-dimensional. Everyone has an I and myself in me. The two overlapping faces of Robert are actually two different sides of his face.

This overlapping/paralleled profile portrait is inspired by Jan de Bray's artwork Portrait of the Artist's Parents, Salomon de Bray and Anna Westerbaen (1664), and Peter paul Rubens' artwork Agrippina and Germanicus (c. 1614).

Very few brands have red as their signature color: Alfa Romeo, Ferrari, (separate lineups of SEAT, Dodge, MINI, Mitsubishi models)... and Mazda. The launch of the Kodo design philosophy (in 2010) changed the direction of Mazda's styling and brought a number of emotional and sporty looking models like CX-30.

For those who consider to visit the World Heritage mine of Dinorwic, and love to experience a wonderful mini adventure:

If you skirt around the Dali’s Hole from the east, drop down onto a scree and over tumbled rocks, you get to a ledge were the first tunnel starts, the one I showed you in my previous upload. Supposing you continue through this narrow shaft you get to the light again at the far end. It suddenly opens out into a heavenly green area, logically called Eden, with a beautiful waterfall, splashing down into a deep hole in the earth. From that point you have to pass a small ridge that runs along the ravine with a deep vertical drop, not really for the faint-hearted because you have to hug a huge rock and span your arms across it to get around it, without dropping into the chasm below. This way leads to a second dark tunnel, in which the risk of getting wet boots isn't small, due to the stream that flows through it. But the brave stickler will be rewarded before he or she even gets to sites called the Lost World and Mordor with walls that bear names like Sauron and Saruman. At the end of this shaft, namely you will find this little gem. But you have to look carefully, not to miss this small and exeptional piece of graffiti art, made by an artist with the cover name marymary and created to pay wholehearted tributes to the quarrymen, who had such a tough time.

Zadar waterfront is a beautiful place for walking along the seashore and enjoying lavish vegetation, especially magnificent palm trees. The representative waterfront offers an unforgettable view of the Zadar Channel beauties, the islands of Ugljan and Pašman and the open sea to the northwest. Sea organ, as soon as it was built, became a magical bate for all the citizens of Zadar so as many tourist visiting the town and the region. This is a crossroad where human skills and ideas meet the energy of the sea, waves, high and low tides, a spot for relaxing, thinking and talking along the endless concert of the mystical tones of Nature’s Orchestra. The Greetings to the Sun, right next to the Sea Organ crates playful game of lights activated by the sunlight saluting “The most beautiful sunset in the world”.

The Greeting to the Sun consists of three hundred multilayer glass plates installed at the same level as the stone paving of the quay in the shape of a circle 22 meters in diameter. It is conceived as a spatial installation in the shape of an amphitheater surrounded by stone blocks with a presentation of all Solar System planets and their orbits.

According to the famous Alfred Hitchcock, this part of the Zadar quay provides a view of the most beautiful sunset in the world.

A winding path leads through the forest, reaching out toward the distant horizon, where the city unfolds quietly before giving way to the majestic Alps. This view from the Rhône-Alpes region captures a natural layering of textures: trees, ponds, subtle urban sprawl, and the snow-capped peaks beneath a textured sky.

A photograph composed like a contemporary landscape painting – with balanced light, gentle tonal transitions, and depth built through the natural relief of the land.
