We all love a stairs shot don't we!
Even multi-storey car parks started somewhere! This is the first true multi-storey car park on this scale in Britain. Surprisingly, it dates from before the Second World War.
Completed in 1939, the car park provided space for 750 cars on its four upper levels plus mezzanines and the roof — at the rate of 13.4 square metres per car. The ground floor level was specially designed to house Blackpool's bus station on it’s ground floor and did so for many years, it’s ceiling height could easily accommodate double decker buses.
The building was more or less immediately requisitioned by the Air Ministry at the outbreak of the War in 1939.
The building has a steel and concrete frame. Its entry/exit ramp has a slope of 1 in 7.5. For internal circulation, there are circualr spiral ramps. These have a slope of only 1 in 10, which makes this an easier car park to use than many of its recent descendants. The whole building was extended on its western side in later years by the addition of sloping floors, and, more recently, it has been reclad.
The designer of the car park, G.W. Stead was an employee of the Blackpool Corporation. During construction, the Borough Surveyor, James Drake (later knighted), had to obtain council approval for the additional cost of vibrating the concrete for the 460mm thick basement walls — a technique now considered standard practice.
No longer the bus station, the ground floor has been converted to commercial space.
Fully refurbished last year it won the "best refurbished car park award 2014", another building with it’s own story to tell that has found new life.

This was a fun one - The idea was to build Narmoto with as many action features as I could reasonably fit on him. I'm particularly happy with the mechanism for retracting the shoulder launcher.

She was a beauty--a gold 45 goddess for sure! A Gold 45 Goddess exalts the archetypal form of Athena--the Greek Goddess of wisdom, warfare, strategy, heroic endeavour, handicrafts and reason. A Gold 45 Goddess guards the beauty of dx4/dt=ic and embodies 45SURF's motto "Virtus, Honoris, et Actio Pro Veritas, Amor, et Bellus, (Strength, Honor, and Action for Truth, Love, and Beauty," and she stands ready to inspire and guide you along your epic, heroic odyssey into art and mythology. It is Athena who descends to call Telemachus to Adventure in the first book of Homer's Odyssey--to man up, find news of his true father Odysseus, and rid his home of the false suitors, and too, it is Athena who descends in the first book of Homer's Iliad, to calm the Rage of Achilles who is about to draw his sword so as to slay his commander who just seized Achilles' prize, thusly robbing Achilles of his Honor--the higher prize Achilles fought for. And now Athena descends once again, assuming the form of a Gold 45 Goddess, to inspire you along your epic journey of heroic endeavour.

What I initially thought was a very large water strider (Aquarius remigis) was actually two in coitus, with the female indulging in a snack.
This room was filled with so many interesting artifacts-one could spend a day going thru all of it...

Sort of a last-minute grouping that Allen pulled together - the multi-powered comic book characters.
Composite-Superman - half Batman / half Superman = all their abilities
Taskmaster - photographic reflexes; if he sees you do it, he can do it, too
Super-Adaptoid - mimics powers and abilities of heroes and villains within a certain range; is mimicking Captain America, Hawkeye, Thor, Iron Man, and Wolverine
Super-Skrull - has the same powers as the Fantastic Four and can use them in combination with each other (ex. an invisible, stretched out, flaming, rocky fist to punch you out)
Rogue - she a power siphon; is mimicking Archangel, Wolverine, Colossus, and Psylocke
You all kicked ass in these costumes!!
PLEASE, no multi invitations in your comments. DO NOT FEEL YOU HAVE TO COMMENT.Thanks.
This is the car I used while in Mexico, a Chevrolet C2. A very basic car, no airbags, air conditioned, automatic and I also rented a portable GPS. 6 days for $288 US.
Based on things I had heard about driving in Mexico I almost did not rent a car. The main highways are great although some back roads had many pot holes. Speed bumps are everywhere, mainly around communities and they are big. I took many back roads and was in the middle of no where at times, and had no problems at all, the people were very friendly. Remember I was by myself so I would have been a great target for anyone who wanted to do anything to me but I was never worried.
Now I could start doing what I wanted from this trip, seeing Mayan Ruins. Next stop the ruins at a place called Muyil, very small site. I love archaeological sites and history and understand that many people don't.
