State law in 1824 (Laws 1838 pp 31-2) leased a clay making quarry in order to make the bricks for Jackson's public buildings...later Edwin Moody took over this function. The clay outcrop of the Jackson Dome structure is at this place (now off Carlisle Street in Belhaven neighborhood). Moody's Branch is named for him.
And I'll do anything you ever
Dreamed to be complete
Little pieces of the nothing that fall
May put your arms around me
What you feel is what you are
And what you are is beautiful
A not-so-simple mud puddle at Pedernales Falls State Park, TX.
Wondering around Pedernales at mid-day with the river running brown I was having a difficult time finding something fresh to shoot. Coming upon this mud puddle I wondered if something interesting could be here... this mud puddle, brown and bare, got a bit of special treatment.
--------------------
below the brown and bare
deep shadows dream
of canyon walls reflecting
riches, gold sunset light
with approaching deep
blue and purple night
soon dry air evaporates
the muddy water mind
leaving a dusty cracked mirror
for the wind to find
maybe brown and bare
dreams are not what they seem

I did not plan any of the shots, I just jumped and splashed pushing my tiny remote shutter button over and over

Sophie went outside with Daddy wearing only a diaper and her mismatched princess shoes. Daddy emptied the kiddie pool out so he could work on the yard.
Sophie had so much fun jumping in the puddles creatied by the pool water. In her Princess shoes, no less.
Oh, to be a toddler again!
(Trying hard to catch up with the we spy: you spy challenges.....I've had a busy summer! This one is (obviously) feet.)

I wished I would have brought a longer lens with me, I wished I would have wore different tights so they would stop falling down, I wished I had an opportunity for a decent education, I wished my husband who is so smart and who loves learning had the chance to be a student here for more than one art class which we could barely afford, I wished you did not have to be rich to get any sort of education, I wished knowledge was shared freely and that the little piece of paper that says you took these certain classes was not more valuable than actual working knowledge, I wished I knew how to navigate a library better than I know how to navigate chaos, I wished public education actual gave people the skills to get a skilled job that they can support themselves with, I wish people got to choose what they wanted to do for a living instead of doing waht will make them the most money, I wished I had a cinnamon roll right now.
Good Morning.
Well actually Jerm just dropped a pebble in the water while I was shooting this flower. Props to Remyfauxtog(Jeremy) for the idea of the flower in the water. We had a great time playing with this one yellow flower.
View large and the water looks like a sprinkler.

The Black Canyon Road to the trailhead contained this enormous puddle. The area had a hard rain in the previous 24 hours. We were lucky and did not experience rain. However, we found plenty of puddles and mud.
