Rainy rainy rainy. I jumped outside my house like an idiot in this mud puddle for at least 10 minutes while cars drove by. I felt pretty special. I edited out something in this picture VERY poorly (with Paint haha). Can you see where?

It rained a lot yesterday...I woke up to a yard full of mud puddles!

And yes, that IS my head reflected in the puddle. Lol!

My little girl is quickly growing and jumping out of that title, but she constantly fills my life with light!

Traveling between Mbonge and Kumba

Although we went in the dry season, it did rain a little on part of the road. This is just a taste of what the road becomes in the rainy season. One advantage, it did keep the dust down so we didn't need the masks that much.

jumping in mud puddles

A population explosion of diatoms in a mudpuddle produced a brown scum on the water, and the scum had the peculiar property of fracturing when disturbed.My fingertip produced starlike cracks.

Signs of spring or "break up" in Fairbanks, Alaska. Puddles and gravel on the roads left over from winter.

I found this in the early Spring of 2011. Just a lone shoe in a mud puddle.

so, this is a funny story.

julie and i were out shooting at night and decided that we'd stop at a local business parking lot to play in our socks in mud puddles (who doesn't love to play in mud puddles??). well.

apparently a police officer driving on the freeway saw us, turned around and came back to see what we were up to.

julie (who is surprisingly cool under pressure) smoothed the whole thing over and we were free to go.

although i will say that it would have been sort of funny had he taken us into the station for trespassing (especially in light of whose business it was). : )

the beauty of the world surrounding her.

When I look at a patch of dandelions, I see a bunch of weeds that are going to take over my yard. My kids see flowers for Mom and blowing white fluff you can wish on.

When I look at an old drunk and he smiles at me, I see a smelly, dirty person who probably wants money and I look away. My kids see someone smiling at them and they smile back.

When I hear music I love, I know I can't carry a tune and don't have much rhythm so I sit self- consciously and listen. My kids feel the beat and move to it. They sing out the words. If they don't know them, they make up their own.

When I feel wind on my face, I brace myself against it. I feel it messing up my hair and pulling me back when I walk. My kids close their eyes, spread their arms and fly with it, until they fall to the ground laughing.

When I pray, I say thee and thou and grant me this, give me that. My kids say, "Hi God! Thanks for my toys and my friends. Please keep the bad dreams away tonight. Sorry, I don't want to go to Heaven yet. I would miss my Mommy and Daddy."

When I see a mud puddle I step around it. I see muddy shoes and dirty carpets. my kids sit in it. They see dams to build, rivers to cross and worms to play with.

I wonder if we are given children to teach or to learn from? No wonder God loves the little children!!

Enjoy the little things in life, for one day you may look back and realize they were the big things. Just a reminder about the important things in life.

Doris and I got this shot, quite by accident, as we were returning from our outing at the Statehouse.

It stopped raining so we decided to go outside. This quickly turned into a mud bath. They had so much fun splashing in that mud puddle. I had to give them a pre-bath before their actual bath because they were so dirty.
