An old sharecropper's house with its colorful and patched shingle roof is reflected in a mud puddle from recent heavy rains in eastern NC.

A population explosion of diatoms in a mudpuddle produced a brown scum on the water, and the scum had the peculiar property of fracturing when disturbed.My fingertip produced starlike cracks.

This week's challenge was tough! This is where having a smaller dog would come in handy.

After two days of rain, Murphy was ready to play and what better place than a mud puddle!

Although I am not completely thrilled with this picutre (color isnt great), I love that it captures his playful side. And, he definitely should NOT be in the mud puddle!

My little girl is quickly growing and jumping out of that title, but she constantly fills my life with light!

Rainy rainy rainy. I jumped outside my house like an idiot in this mud puddle for at least 10 minutes while cars drove by. I felt pretty special. I edited out something in this picture VERY poorly (with Paint haha). Can you see where?

It rained a lot yesterday...I woke up to a yard full of mud puddles!

And yes, that IS my head reflected in the puddle. Lol!

Ugh I would never drink this muddy water unless I was forced to by local bullies.

According to the map in the 1970 soil survey of Wood and Wirt counties, soils here are predominantly a complex of Alfisols (Typic Hapludalfs) of the Upshur series and Inceptisols (Typic Dystrudepts) of the Muskingum series. The orange water is maybe caused by the Upshur soil I guess?

A point in the picture plane π that is the intersection of the projections (or drawings) of a set of parallel lines in space on to the picture plane. Although we went in the dry season, it did rain a little on part of the road. This is just a taste of what the road becomes in the rainy season. One advantage, it did keep the dust down so we didn't need the masks that much.

Inconsistent parenting - saying "don't you dare jump in that puddle!!" most days, and then one day saying "hey lets jump in that puddle! And hang on do it again for the camera!"... oh well, it was fun :)

Signs of spring or "break up" in Fairbanks, Alaska. Puddles and gravel on the roads left over from winter.

I found this in the early Spring of 2011. Just a lone shoe in a mud puddle.
