What a gift it is to truly be together in the presence of another person, connected in a healthy, meaningful, mindful, validating, authentic, caring way, to be seen and accepted in a healing way.

Recently as I looked through some photos I’ve taken I noticed a few that I categorized and called “together” (it seems perhaps this has become a new, naturally occurring photo project)—they were photos of two dandelions or two leaves together at various stages of growth or decay. This reminded me of moments with a few people who are of incredible support to me, moments when I was not alone (feeling and/or being alone has often been my experience throughout my life and something I’d often been drawn to capture—the feeling of “alone”) and what a gift it is to truly be together in each other’s presence, connected in a healthy, meaningful, mindful, validating, authentic, caring way, to be seen and accepted in a healing way (which I believe also has some similarities to relationship with God) though it can be scary and overwhelming because it’s so unfamiliar to me. I’ve been thinking about this a lot as I look at, share a few of the “together” photos and notice and capture more “together” sightings I encounter. And it has taken me a significant amount of time to even been able to try to put the meaning I see in the photos into words because it is a very deep, foreign experience to me and I didn’t really have the words for it.

A mud puddle in front of Cooper's Landing in Boone County Missouri.

After raining almost all night, we woke up to a nice reflection in the mud puddle and brilliant glow in the church window. Didn't get the milky way shot here we wanted but didn't walk away empty handed.

Sacred Heart

so many definitions of that word. fearless. the song has meant so much to me and it applies to so much. I had the urge to take a fearless photo tonight. I tried a few shots of myself but none of them worked out. As I was walking back to the computer room I heard Figaro meowing in the bathroom. He wanted me to put a little bit of water into the bathtub so he can drink it. Just like it was a mudpuddle out in the wild I'm sure. Anyways this is tonight's definition of fearless.

It was a rainy week for the annual Acampamento Terra Livre gathering, with 8,000 indigenous participants including children doing what children do best, making do with available resources.

The backside of the storm that caused a tornado to hit the neighboring town of Perryton Texas. Causing widespread destruction and several lives were lost. A day we will never forget.

Beaver County Oklahoma

A mix of birds were drinking from a frozen mudpuddle in an Oklahoma pasture. I've learned that driving through these and breaking the ice will draw a crowd when it's extremely cold.

Our beautiful world, pass it on.

Jan & myself came across this large bull. He had been drinking from this puddle with a cow. She left and he soon followed.

I am posting another shot that shows the cow with him.

Daffy Duck (in the style of Looney Tunes) with a Cairn Terrier puppy playing in the rain and mud puddle.

I used about 5 different things to get this look, but I couldn't tell you what they were...

When I was growing up, fall and spring were always my favourite seasons. Fall meant the end of burning restrictions... and evenings up in my forts in the woods... gathering twigs by the light of a torch that consisted of a stick with a big burning chunk of birch bark speared on its point. Spring meant the revival of... well... springs. We had them... little burblings up of water from below the ground... here, there and everywhere... all over the farm.

Fire and water both fascinate me endlessly. These days I mostly appreciate them indoors... in their tame, domesticated forms. But Echo just can't get enough of water and puddles and splashing in the mud. So today I decided to join her... playing in this puddle she's created in the back yard... with lots of sticky smelly mud. I ended up with two rubber boots full of gritty slop... and wet stockings... and a big big smile. Hope you get at least a little bit of the fun out of this vicariously.

I backed out of my driveway and spotted a flock of Robins bathing in a mud puddle! I had to stop and take a few shots!

We've had decent rainfall for the year. Makes some walks a bit of a muddy challenge. Thank goodness for W. L. Gore and Gortex. At Oxbow heading to the Great Miami River.
