The abstract beauty of a mud puddle, teeming with life after a month long atmospheric river, is too irrestistable to a photographer eager to play in the mud.

Back Story .........................................

Left real early, like just before daybreak.

Apparently I was only minutes behind a

rainstorm as there was lots of standing

water on the roads but no rain on me .;-)

Did the same same at the bingo room

then took off for the nuns place to hook

up with Mama and Rocky.

Made an executive decision about Legs.

With funding being in short supply at the

moment I decided to take Legs bandages

off and check her wound. This saved doing

a double run to the dog doctors clinic plus

saved on the vet and fuel bill.

Her monkey wound looked real good, nice

and tight, just like new, well almost new.

So here ya go, Miss Legs The Zoomer is free

of the dreaded cone and back to Zooming ..;-)

Thank You.

Pigs, Puddles, Primates and Bananas.

Photo No# 2 of 2.

Don't start panicking, these two pigs have been

residents at the monkey temple for many years.

They are fat and lazy. Did I mention fat and lazy ?

There's other photos of the pigs with monkeys ridding

them and messing with their ears just for silly fun... ;-)~

The storms have been hitting us hard, leaves an branches

all over the roads. Pigs are so lazy they don't even bother

to get onto dry land. Here they're farting an snoring so

loud it scared a couple of young monkeys !

Rain showers and squalls are hit an miss today. Rained

all the way to the monkey temple, drizzled most of the

time I was there. Rained going to the dog doctor and

most of the way home ! .. I'm Wet ! ..

FYI:

Mama and Rocky are about 10 meters to my left watching.

They don't like it when I get to close to these loud farting

mud monsters .. Scary Stuff .. ;-)~~~

All the temple dogs were cared for and interacted with.

Miss Legs has three more days with the cone and pajamas.

She is 91% healed as of Thursday, July the 13th 2017 ..............

Thank You.

Puddle locale is in the Klammath Mountains of Northern California. Photo taken on 5/31/2014.

This was the first time that I really saw an immediate benefit from my 365 project. My son was jumping in the mud puddle after I had already come inside, showered and put on shorts and a t-shirt. If it were not for my 365 project I would not have gone out to photograph him.

Today was a gloomy day. Rained pretty much all day. Isaiah pretended to jump in mud puddles inside and as soon as the rain let up, we did the real thing.

He kept looking at me as if asking, "Are you sure I can do this?"

I just told him to have fun....he did!

a warm day today, and the snow is melting fast...

This shot shows the cow drinking and the bull there checking her out. The weather had been pretty wet and nasty and the light level wasn't the best.

I lied. I'm sorry. There are more. I may have a problem. I can't stop. I drive a jeep and have a hard time saying no to mud :-)

It rained most of the day today and then the sun came out just before it was too dark to get any good light. I wanted to run and play in it. It was hard rain. Though I don't think anyone at work would have appreciated any of it. Then again, most everyone at work is weird in their own way and just really authentically themselves. I think that's my favorite part of it all. We're all creatives on some level. It's sort of a prerequisite for fitting in there. That and being a little weird. In just a really wonderful way.

. . . well actually - this is a late April Fools Day joke. I was walking around the cabin this morning, (while Doc Doolittle gathered up the garbage pails for a run to the local dump.) and I spotted this half frozen two foot wide mud puddle, and decided to have some fun. Once I brought this shot up on my monitor - it looked like a log jammed river. (Which is a common sight in Alaska each spring.) So I decided to post it as my silly Saturday image.

Wishing everyone a fun filled weekend.

When I got to AGES today Guiness seemed a little bummed out, he didn't even eat his breakfast yet and it was after noon. His paddock mate, my sponsored horse, Rocky, left for his new home yesterday.

I kept him company while mucking and tried to make him laugh, he told me some stories, he even finished his food! Then I haltered him and groomed him for a while, he must have been rolling in a mudpuddle right before I got there...it was a great experience for both of us :-)

I bought myself a little toy. It is a holga lens for my dear Nikon, Ruby 3. It has been fun so far. I had it on my camera for a week and had some good results, nothing great, but a week of seeing things a bit differently was wonderful.

I like the big splashes, they sound cool, the smack of my rubber boot on the smooth surface, the tiny drops splattering all over the road, the feeling of cold wetness seeping in through a small hole or crack in those rubber boots... uh-oh, time to find more boots

What a girl, Syd usually runs through this puddle when she is hot from playing but it has slowly been going down so to cool herself she decided to lay right in it! Our bathtub will never be the same again! LOL ~ Explored~

An earlier shot from the rainier parts of summer. Nice and !sunny! this weekend, perfect for a little backpacking trip up to the ADK's.

Have a good one!

Thanks for the texture photoni.

These passengers from Amtrak's westbound Empire Builder have no idea of the photo opportunity they've presented. We're at the Havre, Montana station stop on October 5, 1992, a service stop about midway on the Empire Builder's Chicago to Seattle journey. Passengers are invited to detrain and stretch their legs, as these four (and myself) are doing.

lights from a spinning carnival ride reflected in a mud puddle

I was able to catch this windmill reflection in a mud puddle after a recent rain storm.

I came across this uninviting resting spot in Elizabeth Park (Hartford, CT) in the spring of 2017, while shooting with an expired roll of film.

Echo Azures, Variable Checkerspots, California Sisters, and Callippe Fritillaries all share one mud puddle.

Puddle locale is in the Klammath Mountains of Northern California. Photo taken on 5/31/2014.

I love reflections - and last night on our walk the clouds were at our feet. My husband was in more of a hurry to walk the dog --> than to take the time to be fascinated by the spectacle at our feet. I ignored him - kept shooting pictures - and I happy with the outcome. One must stop to smell the roses - so to speak!

Not much action here, but I thought her pose was good, and you get a clearer view of the mud puddle they were playing in. I still don't know what the purpose of this was, other than to get covered in mud and provide a photo-op for people like me.

Scientific Name: Delias eucharis It is commonly seen in gardens. The females can be seen flying amongst the trees in search of its foodplants, while the males are more frequently observed visiting flowers for nectar or mud-puddling. It rests with its wings closed exhibiting the brilliantly coloured underside.

The Jezebel often flies high up in the canopy and usually comes lower down only to feed on nectar in flowers. Due to this habit apparently, it has evolved a dull upperside and a brilliant underside so that birds below it recognise it immediately while in flight and at rest.

It has bright coloration to indicate the fact that it is unpalatable due to toxins accumulated by the larvae from the host-plants.

Like other unpalatable butterflies the Common Jezebel is mimicked by Prioneris sita, the Painted Sawtooth. The Common Jezebel can be distinguished by the shape of the orange red spots on the hind wing. In the Painted Sawtooth these spots are very squarish whereas in the Common Jezebel they are more arrow head shaped. The Painted Sawtooth also flies faster and will also mudpuddle.

#View On Black

The previous shot turned out a bit underexposed, but this one turned out a bit overexposed. I fixed both in Photoshop. Usually, the meter isn't that fickle, so it's a good thing I have something to do "editing" on these photos.

I included the woman on the left for this shot. As you can see, she has gone even further by covering her face in mud. Either that, or else she is demonstrating a Medieval version of mudpacks.

I'm not the one who broke you

I'm not the one you should fear

I thought I lost you somewhere

But you were never really ever there at all
