Watching carefully where you walk at the fair after several rain showers also produces surprising images.
Sometimes all you need is a bit of water and dirt. This little guy didn't seem interested in the historic buildings or stories at Westfield Heritage Village. He had a mud puddle all to himself.
The chocolate albatross is a butterfly of the family Pieridae, that is, the yellows and whites, which is found in south and southeast Asia. In India, the northern race of the butterfly is common, while it is local and scarce in other parts of its range.
The chocolate albatross is a forest butterfly and prefers rainy highlands, up to a level of 3,000 feet (910 m). Flying strongly and swiftly close to the ground, the albatross is frequently found in jungle clearings and along stream banks. The males are often found circling around trees and bushes. The chocolate albatross often mudpuddles, sometimes in large numbers. The butterfly occasionally visits flowers and has been recorded to visit Verbena flowers in Kodagu. (Wikipedia)

There is an observation tower at Tonlé Sap, accessed by a rather precarious walkway over the muddy ground. This lone butterfly was feeding contentedly at the base of the tower.

About about a 14inch Snapping Turtle that I found in a mud puddle in the parking lot. I rescued him from being ran over, by picking him up and releasing him in a nearby lake. He didn't like me picking him up and had his mouth wide open and was hissing at me, lol! But, I am sure he appreciated me putting him the lake and I watched him swim away, leaving his mud behind.
I have been trying for so long to capture the rain hitting the ground but haven't succeeded yet. However, one day I went outside after a hard rain and found this on the ground just inside the backyard fence. I thought it looked kinda okay. Hope you do too!

I came across this Mallard couple as they were resting in the grass next to a large muddy puddle, which they promptly escaped to as soon as they saw me approaching.
An interesting fact about Mallards, some of the most common North American ducks: "The standard duck’s quack is the sound of a female Mallard. Males don’t quack; they make a quieter, rasping sound," according to the Cornell Lab of Ornithology.
Precisely detailed Common Sootywing Skipper butterfly at rest for a moment.
Considered uncommon for this area. Easily mistaken for a tiny wasp.

This was one of the best books I have ever read! It moved me in so many ways! I found myself a little more open to the childlike wonder we all have locked within us. Let go, and let God.
I stepped outside to check the clouds and noticed a shelf cloud forming. By the time we drove 5 miles, the wind was starting to hit. Grabbed a shot or two and got back into the pickup to keep from being sandblasted.

"Yes we'll walk with a walk that is measured and slow, And we'll go where the chalk-white arrows go, For the children, they mark, and the children, they know The place where the sidewalk ends." ~ Shel Silverstein, Where the Sidewalk Ends (Turns 40 this year.........and still sparking imagination the world over).

Never let the mud puddle get lost in the poetry because, in many ways, the mud puddle is the poetry. — Valerie Worth
Yesterday we woke up to rain. 48* high and we had puddles and melting snow galore. Now today it's 33* and off and on snow. :)

Clarence the hog was astonished to discover that there were mermaids in the pig pen.
Okay, so I had this photo of the mermaids at a Renaissance Festival right after a heavy rainstorm, and I was thinking, "What can I do with this?" and, um...

The spring of 2023 brought much needed rains to our area. We were in a severe drought, and we were so thankful for the abundant moisture. The rains slowed down my photography trips as the roads were a muddy mess for a long period of time. When the storms would come in, I would go with my husband to watch. He is a fire chief and storm spotter. When I am with him, I don't get the best compositions because it is more important for him to be able to see the storm, so I settle for whatever I can get.

Today was meant for adventure.
Fresh air and warmer temperatures lure us outdoors, and what better way to experience the thrill of an excursion than in a Jeep 4x4. Whether it’s up rocky slopes or through muddy trails, Jeep vehicles let you take adventure to a whole new level.
Crossing creeks, touring valleys, and maneuvering through rocky terrain are just part of the trek. In a Jeep brand vehicle, you can see lost history and beautiful vistas. Get away with friends for the day or take off for a week by yourself to refuel. Jeep 4x4 Day reminds us that every day was meant for adventure!
HISTORY
The Jeep brand founded Jeep 4x4 Day to celebrate adventure seeking in a Jeep brand 4x4. The Registrar at National Day Calendar declared the day to be celebrated annually beginning in 2016.
Here's my husband acting like his sons and seeing who can get real muddy in his jeep a few years ago.
Cigaritis vulcanus, the common silverline, is a species of lycaenid or blue butterfly found in Asia. It was first described by Johan Christian Fabricius in 1775.
