rain ... blowing ... Nothing out there but mudpuddles and leaves...

There's nothing we can do about

The things we have to do without

The only way to feel again

Is let love in

I was amazed to see a grandmother encouraging her grandchildren to jump up and down in this mud puddle. The whole scene reminded me of the simple joys of childhood. I haven't jumped up and down in a mud puddle since I was about that size. It's rare that I photography children because I don't want people to think I'm a creeper with a camera but this scene was just begging to be captured and I think the grandmother appreciated me noticing the fun they were all having. :)

My Dad was in the Army as a Tech 5 in WW2, this is a picture of a guy named Mac playing in a mud puddle at the RAF base in Honeybourne England. The colorization isn't perfect, but I think it looks ok.

When I headed out at the "crack of noon" for my usual "early" morning photo shoot, I was looking for typical New England foliage. Colorful hillsides, white churches, red barns, horses, quiet ponds is what I envisioned. Yucky tangled, mucky swamps was not high on my list. But.... here I was wandering aimlessly down a road I had never travelled when I caught a glimpse of water and a splash of color in the bushes. U turn! My favorite photo technique. Locked Scout in the car, there was no way he was going here, and trotted up the road. The brush was so tangeled at first I couldn't even find what I had seen. Finally fought my way through the tangle and found ...... a yucky green mudpuddle. I couldn't even set up my tripod. At first I tried extending the pod and tripped the self timer and held it aloft over my head. That got some nice out of focus , overexposed messes. Finally in a burst of ambition I plunked the tripod down and fired off a few bracketed shots. I couldn't wait to get out of there. When I got home and downloaded this to my computer , I was stunned and pleased by the range of light, color and contrast that is packed into this little place. Hope you like it as much as I do.

This was the first thing I thought of when I saw this group playing around in the mud. I have no idea why they were doing this, but that quote from "Monty Python and the Holy Grail" was perfect. It would have been a crime to not use it here.

Its official, boys do like playing in the mud.

No doubt some kid stole his dad's porn mag & brought it out to the woods to look at it. We found several pages scattered around near the head of the trail.

A flock of yellow-rumps were drinking from this mudpuddle on an icy morning.

A young boy on an old tire swing entertaining himself as his westie looks on

Prompt: wide angle view shot, a young boy playing on a tire swing, wearing a purple shirt and blue jeans, bare feet. A white westie dog, ears up, sitting on the ground watching the boy on the swing. In the background is a rustic red wooden barn with a weathered appearance, surrounded by tall grass and a dirt road. The boy is holding onto the rope as he swings over a mud puddle. Nostalgic Norman Rockwell style, country feel, earthy tones. --ar 4:5 --profile q3kzjs4 v 6.1

I found this three-year-old picture of a robin just after taking a birdbath. If my memory is correct, this was at the parking lot at Hidden Marsh Sanctuary in Three Rivers, MI.

Of course, it doesn't have an official name-----I just made it up (do I really need to tell you that?). But it IS a muddy puddle in the town of Stratford, P.E.I., and it's big enough to notice.

This particular parcel of land, of which only a portion is shown here, was cleared of trees and other vegetation in preparation for some development. Whether it's residential, commercial, or a mix, I don't know, but it's significant in the context of this small but fast-growing community. Also unknown to me is whether any actual construction work will be done before winter sets in-----or whether the puddle will become an outdoor rink!

If any local residents can provide any further info on this project, please feel free to chime in.

My daughter took her outside and she found a mud puddle. Every kid should learn how to play in those!

once he got a bit down into his boot, we just let him go for it. what the heck. when you're a six year old boy, happiness is, apparently, getting absolutely filthy :)

could not resist the reflection shot, then it uploaded upside down

this was not part of the photoshoot....Gabe just couldn't resist himself when he happened upon this mud puddle!

The wildflowers are magnificent up here, But although it was only 6:30 P.M. I felt that it was to late to take any real good pics, when I looked on the screen of my camera ,to check out the pic, I couldn't even see my face, so I gave up and came back the next day. It's a 9 mile round trip through the woods each time and I hate the mudpuddles when I'm dressed En femme, but I took it easy.

Scars are souvenirs you never lose

The past is never far

Did you lose yourself somewhere out there

Did you get to be a star

And don't it make you sad to know that life

Is more than who we are

This group of miniature mud volcanoes are on the north end of the "Microcasm Basin" in the Pocket Basin Mudpots (officially called The Mud Volcanoes) which is located in the Lower Geyser Basin, Yellowstone National Park. This year was an extremely wet one and some the mud volcanoes were in a large puddle on the south end of this group. Many of the miniature mud volcanoes were still active with small mud flows going out into the water.

There was a wet place where many insects went, especially butterflies of several types and bees. They would fly and settle for a moment. Sometimes they landed on top of another butterfly that then had to fly away.

Thanks Bennyboymothman for the ID as Marpesia marcella and Marpesia zerynthia and Dominik (bayucca) for identifying the brown one at the right as Hypanartia dione

PD: The most abundant butterfly, identified as Marpesia marcella, looks more like Marpesia corinna.

This feature is located in a group of miniature mud volcanoes on the north end of the "Microcasm Basin" in the Pocket Basin Mudpots (offically called The Mud Vocanoes) which is located in the Lower Geyser Basin, Yellowstone National Park. This year was an extremely wet one and some the mud volcanoes were in a large puddle on the south end of this group. Many of the miniature mud volcanoes like the one pictured were still active though surrounded by water. In this photo a gas bubble has just burst in the central crater and fresh mud spatter can be seen on top of the cone.

A thousand others could never reach you

How could I have been the one

I saw the world spin beneath you

And scatter like ice from the spoon

I love acting like a kid.

Saw the mud puddle & tried some reflection shots

There are those who eat this kind of action up with a big spoon. They are the left wing columnists and news readers. They are always trying to sling some kind of mud at republicans. Hey, the politicians are really good at it too. What is comical is how the left is slanting the descriptions of the crowds, how they are making up rumors, just pure mud slinging. Here's why. Most of the media are White men who are...well, over the hill so to speak and, I hate to say this, but they want to leave their mark on journalism. They know that with multi-ethnicity becoming the "in" thing, they have to make time. So, it is for the likes of Dafferty, the "last mile." Well, aren't we are all getting tired of this 24-7 healthcare confrontation. It isn't exactly like we are all going to be going to be diagnosed as terminally ill in the next week.
