Mt Yale is one of fifteen Fourteeners in the Sawatch Range of central Colorado. The recently revised elevation is 14,200 feet.
My favorite church in Georgia and probably my favorite historic building in Georgia.

Mt. Pulag is considered the 2nd highest mountain in the Philippines, next to Mt. Apo of Mindanao with only a few meters difference. It is considered as one of the most beautiful National Parks in the Cordillera Area. Mt. Pulag is typically different from the rainforest mountains in the Philippines because of its open area (no trees mountain). It also has its distinct characteristics of changing color on different occasions and season. During the dry season, Mt. Pulag is brown similar to the chocolate Hills of Bohol. During the Rainy Monsoon season, it will vary from light green to rich dark green rolling plains, almost similar to a well maintained golf course. Local People believed that is was, and is a play ground of the gods.

The day started with me now feeling overly well so soon it became obvious that our plan for a 5 peak traverse would not materialize. Still the desire was there to visit at least one new peak, and with my stomach getting very slowly but progressively better, we ended up completing 3 peak traverse (2 new peaks) for a total of 10.8 miles and 4,862 ft elevation gain.
A slightly different composition than the other -- I couldn't get the flowers and the reflection (the extent of the reflection I wanted) in the same shot. Thus, one optimized the reflection, while the other emphasized the flowers.

Just before the final down to Redbank Gorge carpark, there is a viewpoint showing the ridgeline to the summit of Mt Sonder. It's about 6km along here and another 2km down to the carpark. It was interesting seeing the track on our way down after our night walk up.
AI Alert. You might call this image an interpretation. I used the AI Remove tool in Photoshop to remove all the houses and buildings at base of Mt. Tam -- I found them distracting. Perhaps this is what it looked like when Marin was wild, unsettled country. Although if you look very, very closely the lookout tower is still visible at the peak.

Another full day of hiking Mt. Assiniboine! We hit the Nib & Nob & Nub (heh heh, I love that), and came down past the three lakes.
This is the shot I came for. Great workshop with Dave Morrow Saturday night and a bunch of new friends that I hope to keep in touch with. While this in an unbelievable picture, this is Dave's work. It's the exact composition that he won the National Geographic photography contest with in 2012. He took us to the location and showed us how he did it. All I did was press the button on my Nikon. Still, happy to have it in my portfolio! Thanks Dave!

Observed from the summit, here is the shadow of mount Rocciamelone (3.538 meters / 11,603 feet), Italy.
It's pointing to the city of Avigliana/Torino and, with its right coast, it's covering the entire Susa Valley.

I shot this photo about 10 minutes after Mount Tamalpais Dreamscape back in December.
It had been a drizzly, gray day in San Francisco, and I took a chance on driving up to the slopes of Mt. Tam for sunset. It turned out to be a good bet... not only did the clouds break around 2,000 feet, but a gorgeous sunset was going on in the sky! It's rare to have fog and high clouds at once in the Bay Area, so this was an evening to remember.

At the far background is Mt. Iraya located in one of the islands of Batanes called Batan. It is an active volcano of the Philippines that last erupted in 1454.

We were lucky to have a beautiful day when the next day was terrible.

A bit overcooked I think. The real experience is far better and more dramatic.
10,200' , Smith-Dorrien Trail - a much different appearance this season of the year with no snow in evidence.

Mt Chudleigh almost appearing as a volcano erupting over Tasman Lake at the beginning of blue hour.
The greek theatre of Segesta, nestling in the side of Mt. Barbaro, today commands a spectacular view of the Gulf of Castellamare. First built from the late 4th to early 3rd century BCE, the theatre as it is seen today dates to the 2nd century BCE. Originally it had 29 rows of seats (the lower 21 survive) divided vertically into seven sections by access steps. The capacity would, therefore, have been around 4,000 spectators. The theatre is supported by a containing wall constructed of limestone blocks. The orchestra, scene building (once decorated with scenes connected to the pastoral god Pan), and entrances (paradoi) on either side have been lost. The theatre continues to host theatre events and Greek dramas throughout the summer months.
My wife and I recently finished an amazing roadtrip through Washington State and Mt. Rainier was our first stop. It was my first visit to Washington and it definitely won't be my last! Mt. Rainier was pretty epic and I wish we could have spent more time here as there is so much to see. We still had 3 days of adventures and were able to catch the early autumn colors on the alpine meadows in Paradise. Truly and amazing experience!
On another note I haven't posted much lately on flickr but plan to start posting a lot more often. This has been a super busy year for my photography and I have been creating a ton of content so stay tuned for some more posts in the near future.
