When I visited Gotemba to enjoy shopping, I took this shot In Jan25,2009. It was cold day, so clear sky.
Mt Lemmon Hwy is leands up to the top of Mount Lemmon which is just outside of Tucson, Arizona. You start off at about 2,557 ft surrounded by saguaro cactus and mesquite trees and climb as high as 8,198 ft to pine tree vegetation and cool air. It a little over 23 mile drive up the mountain with a number of lookout points like this one where you can stop and photograph or just enjoy the wonderful view.

At 1842m above sea level, Mt McKay is the highest drivable peak in Australia, and possibly the highest public road in Australia.
This photo is of the communications building and former fire-watcher's tower on the summit with lighting provided by the moon.

Mt. Redoubt volcano on Kenai Peninsula (still spewing ash), from Anchor Point. One of the shots I really wanted to get while in Alaska was a shot of Redoubt at sunset. I almost missed this shot though, cuz I was taking a sunset shot from the Homer Spit (previous photo). The colors were really this amazing and fortunately the color held long enough after sunset for me while I drove out to Anchor Pt from Homer. Be sure to check out my blog for full story details.

Mt. Walker, on Hood Canal is covered by a forest, filled with rhododenrons. I've never seen so many wild rhodies in one place. Only some are currently in bloom. I think it will peak in about two weeks. I visited on Saturday, and was lucky enough to have foggy conditions. Thanks for looking!

A pic from our road trip to the Northwest last summer. I'd love to go back and spend more time here someday - maybe hike the Wonderland Trail.
Arriving at the summit of Mt. Rinjani for sunrise is an incredibly hard, but rewarding experience. As sun was rising I looked over and saw this hiker contemplating the hike (or life) on a distant ridge.

i grew up on the east coast, and the east coast is great, but it's generally fairly small and cute and subtle. then you go out west and everything is gigantic and un-subtle. the east coast has cute colonial towns. when i moved to l.a i vowed to explore the weird and beautiful and baffling areas around l.a. and top of my list (well, near the top of my list), was mt baldy... tmblr.co/ZHkOLwkyyjY_
