Mt Goat ascendinfg a steep clif. I can spend hours watching them move among the clifs.

We made the hike to Bench Lake and were rewarded with this awesome view. The water was fabulous and we had the lake to ourselves!

The steep slope near the peak of Mt Rinjani, Indonesia. Loose gravel and 30 degree incline.

A bit cliche I suppose (I had to line up for the spot a few weeks ago so many photographers were around) but I like the result.

The distinct twin peaks of India's second highest mountain and the 23rd highest in the world, viewed from great distance, over 100 Kms away in Sitla, near Mukteshwar. The summer haze meant that the peak was barely visible and hence the poor quality of this image. However, this is my first "proper" view of my most cherished mountain from side-on so I love this pic for that. The Goddess (Nanda Devi is a sacred peak in the Kumaon and Garhwal region in India) revealed herself to me, a very rare opportunity during the summer months!

I seldom get to ride shotgun while traveling along the Seward Highway. Here's a "shotgun" view of Mt. Alyeska, located above the small community of Girdwood, Alaska.

After two days of wind and rain the weather gods relented and we got views like this....

Although most of Vancouver Island is green and well into spring, Mt. Arrowsmith is still covered in snow.

Mount Esja is Reykjavík’s most iconic mountain, rising sharply across the bay and offering one of the most accessible and popular hiking routes in Iceland. Though not a single peak, Esja is a volcanic mountain range formed millions of years ago by basaltic lava flows and shaped by glacial erosion. It stands as a natural backdrop to the capital, visible from much of the city.

One of the most frequented routes leads to Steinn, a large rock outcrop and popular turnaround point for hikers. Reaching Steinn involves a moderately challenging trail that rewards climbers with sweeping views over Reykjavík, Kollafjörður Bay, and the vast Icelandic landscape beyond. Whether hiked in the glow of summer light or the silence before sunrise, the path to Steinn is a favorite among locals and visitors alike—a place where urban life fades into the wilderness.

On my way to go hiking in the Indian Heaven Wilderness on Saturday I stopped at a roadside viewpoint on Road 24 to see this view of Mt. Adams, which had a fresh dusting of snow on it. This would be the last time I saw the mountain that day since clouds rolled in and covered it up.

Our next stop was Mt Rosa Winery March 7, 2014 Central Otago, South Island, New Zealand.

Here is what the says about his winery and wines.. and he was such a character with is gumboots and short.. and very tall...sure was laid back!

At Mt Rosa we leave nothing to chance we are relentless in the pursuit of excellence, hence the top end marketing. Our tasting room is built to exacting specifications in our woolshed, ie rough. Our wines are as good as we can make them and they are there to be drunk. We are found at the sunny end of the Gibbston, many say , ie us , the better end.

Follow SH6 to Gibbston and hang a right up the 3rd road past the Bungy and follow your nose. www.nzwine.com/winery/mt-rosa-central-otago/
