The Denver Botanic has a real alpine garden here. Was interesting to see what is growing here versus what is growing at the gardens in Denver. I took lots of pictures.
From 1957 to 1980, Mount Umunhum was used as an air force station. The Midpensula purchased the land in 1986. After years of cleaning and reconstruction, the Summit and trails officially opened to the public in September 2017. The hike to the Summit is 7.4 miles with elevation gain 1150 feet.

At Mount Rainier (Elbe, WA.) there is a steam engine train that runs for several miles along the mountain's foothills. It's kind of a lame ride, but the shots of the train were worth it.
Mount Washington, called Agiocochook by some Native American tribes, is the highest peak in the Northeastern United States at 6,288 ft.

Mount Tamalpais, known locally as Mount Tam, is the highest peak in the Marin Hills in California. Due to its height and proximity to the ocean and bay, the mountain contains many microclimates: ranging from cool and foggy in lower ocean-facing valleys, to hot and dry on the manzanita slopes, cool and breezy at the summit, and shady at the Douglas-fir forested slopes.

Mount Batur (1717m) is still an active volcano. The last eruption was in 2000. It's a two-hour hiking to climb to the summit. From the top there is a nice view on Lake Batur.

The real Mount Rose not the Ski resort, which is to the left / south, took me awhile to figure that out! view from the Geiger Lookout Wayside Park. Interstate Highway I-580 below.

The peak locally known as Denali, or simply, “the mountain,” ranks foremost in American’s minds when they think of Denali National Park and Preserve. Mount McKinley dominates the 600-mile-long Alaska Range, which began its present uplift approximately six million years ago. The granite massif that reigns at the center of the Park is 20,320 feet high and approximately 58 million years old. But to view the mountain on a clear day; to consider the continual tectonic uplift that adds about one millimeter a year to its girth; to be reminded of its wildlife, young rivers, old glaciers and miniaturized flora is to encounter Alaska’s essence.
