The peak locally known as Denali, or simply, “the mountain,” ranks foremost in American’s minds when they think of Denali National Park and Preserve. Mount McKinley dominates the 600-mile-long Alaska Range, which began its present uplift approximately six million years ago. The granite massif that reigns at the center of the Park is 20,320 feet high and approximately 58 million years old. But to view the mountain on a clear day; to consider the continual tectonic uplift that adds about one millimeter a year to its girth; to be reminded of its wildlife, young rivers, old glaciers and miniaturized flora is to encounter Alaska’s essence.

Some NH Mountain shots from my trip up to see my my interns last week (i.e. Bumps and Lois Weinhold). This shot I think might be Tenney Mountain, but I'm not sure. It is roadside from a side street in the mountains previously scouted out by an unpaid intern. CORRECTION: it’s Mount Cardigan. Thanks to @kmacgray for that info!
