Beautiful sunset that I found quite by accident. Crepuscular Mosquitoes ready to launch on a day's work.

Other than the monotonous hum of mosquitoes on a sultry July night, the sounds of contented milked cows, the clanging of milk pails and the quiet murmur of a farmer and his offspring have faded and the barn that once was the center of them all, is nearing its final end. In my sunset years, the once familiar sounds of my farm days can still be heard but now they are only muted sounds in my memory.

It is time for the war against the mosquitos, they love my blood and I have to scratch my skin all day long! Can`t sleep at night because of the itch!!!

A quick dash to Newborough Forest to try and catch some sunlight through the trees. Had to cut the evening short very soon on due to being attacked by swarms of mosquitoes!

Last Friday an old colleague, he was my manager some time ago, invited me to go and see him fly so that I could take some picalillies of the event.

What you see is a deltawing and attached to is a Mosquito. The deltawing is from Italy and the Mosquito is from Sweden if I remember correctly. The Mosquito is a sleepingbag with an engine attached to it.

To take off, he starts running and simultaneously revvs the shit of that little engine. The wing does its thing and it lifts up and he's air airborne. Then he has to get his legs into the sleepingbag and zip up and retract the landing gear (two legs at the end). As far as he knows, he is the only one in the country who has one of these.

It's super cool. A man can fly, by himself!

So out this morning looking for wild orchids along this beautiful trail :-) I found 3 :-) Also found 1 million mosquitos!!!

Purple Martins' diet consists primarily of insects. Purple Martins are renowned for their appetite for mosquitos. Many homeowners and bird lovers erect Purple Martin hoses to attract this natural "mosquito control" bird. After all, studies suggest an adult Purple Martin can consume over 2,000 mosquitos a day. On a given day, however, martins will consume a wide variety of insects, and only a fraction of that is mosquitos. Other insects on their diet include: dragonflies, flies, beetles, moths, ants, grasshoppers, and even bees and wasps.

Don't plan on seeing a martin at your bird feeder. They do not eat seeds. In rare situations of bad weather or when food is scarce, you may find them on the ground searching for worms, grubs, and other bugs.
