“I'm looking at myself reflections of my mind
It's just the kind of day to leave myself behind
So gently swaying through the fairyland of love
If you'll just come with me you'll see the beauty of
Tuesday afternoon
Tuesday afternoon”

Captured at Uttakleiv near Haukland Beach in Lofoten, December 7, 2011. With an 8-second exposure, the restless Arctic Ocean transforms into a silky, velvet-like surface, contrasting against the timeless rocks and dramatic winter sky. This image reflects the magic of the blue hour above the Arctic Circle, where light lingers even in the darkest month of the year.
A Bevy of Bluebirds
What do you call a congregation of Bluebirds anyway?
Batch? Bunch? Brood? Brigade? Block? Battalion? Battery? Bank? Body? Boodle? Ball?
Scrabble anyone?
Anyway, 1st bird(s) of 2024. They were buried in branches, so lousy pic technically, but aesthetically? I kinda like it.
Common Name:Eastern Bluebird
Scientific Name: Sialia sialis
Taxonomy: Animalia - Chordata - Aves - Passeriformes - Turdidae
2024 Species count: 1
"The New Forest pony is one of the recognised mountain and moorland or native pony breeds of the British Isles. All ponies grazing on the New Forest are owned by New Forest commoners – people who have "rights of common of pasture" over the Forest lands. An annual marking fee is paid for each animal turned out to graze."
A lone crow watches while his flock fly away to their homes as the night draws in. I felt like this bird yesterday, as my sons and their families went back to their own homes, after their visit for Mothering Sunday. Who knows how long before we're all together again? Ahhh... time waits for no one ! Hope you all have a happy week and time brings you everything you wish for, for you and your loved ones.
I suddenly remembered this beautiful song as I came back from our local park yesterday, my arms aching from pushing my three grandchildren higher and higher on the swings. I haven't thought of it for years (the song, that is !)

Find Autumnal colours near you....
even as evening descends on the harbor promenade of coll d'en rabassa, a child in a yellow slicker stands out against the looming grey of a stormy sky. the wood underfoot bears the weathered stories of countless storms before, a silent testament to resilience. this lone bright figure, small yet defiant, looks out to where the sky meets the sea, a vast canvas of moody blues. it's a scene of contrast and simplicity, where color pops vividly against the muted tones of an impending downpour.
thanks to my friend [https://www.flickr.com/photos/canonmao/] for texting this beautiful haiku for my photo:

Whitsand's Boiler and engine parts revealed at low tide with a fast moving tide rushing through the rusty ironwork.
Back to Langstone Harbour, Hampshire again yesterday evening to capture the sunset and the skies were full of grey clouds but the conditions were calm providing some interesting moody reflections!
Even though the sky was not colourful is was a pleasant warm evening and good to be out with the Nikon again after a week in the office!
0.8 second exposure using a Lee 0.9 ND grad filter.
Thanks for any comments you may wish to leave.
I do like to be beside the sea week continues…
A week long series of shots dedicated to the coast. Now that were back on the beach, it’s time to go exploring on the rocks.
Rocks
A place to find shells, rock pools and all kinds of sea life uncovered by the tide… or when it comes to photography, foreground interest that’s millions of years old!
As much as I love the tranquility of the last shot, witnessing the force of the sea slamming off rocks can be completely exhilarating, if a little unnerving. Combining that with the ever changing light as night gives way to day, is a very humbling and inspiring experience, one that keeps me returning for more.

I've had to downgrade the resolution of this image, and introduce heavy watermarking, after finding other images on unauthorised sale. I apologise, as it now looks crap and a shadow of its former self.

I like the the warm autumn colors and the blue November sky. Have a great weekend. Thanks for visiting.
The Cold-hearted Orb sets below the ridge above Farmer's Loop Road and the FLTS-E.
9:48 a.m., twilight coming on but actual sunrise is an hour off. In the far north the celestial orbs are seen less rising and setting and more just kind of rolling around the horizons.

Rushed out to the coast last night to a place I've never been before. The fog was so thick though it was already dark when I got there. I'll be heading back to this spot soon, hopefully I can catch a sunset.
Bruarfoss waterfalls was quite tricky to find walking up to our knees in snow at times but worth the trek. With wellies on I clambered underneath the bridge to the find a mesmerising whirlpool.
This view is looking upstream at the spectacular blueness of the fast flowing water.
"Steely Blue" Watergate Bay
The vastness of wet sand, pools, winding streams and sand islands made a perfect canvas for the metallic reflections of the moody dramatic sky.
I was afraid to move from the spot to ensure I didn't leave a blemish in the sand for my later shots so I walk on the wet patches! Sometimes I'm amazed how few people there are on such an amazing open sandy beach that mirrors the big skies.
I would love to show you the progression of this spectacular cloudscape throughout the hour I was there. I think you'll be surprised.
"Oooooh No! is that a paw print I see?"
The Mound, tour merchandise proposal:
(NOT my derriere!)
Wishful thinking and a neon sign have come together in yet another tour merchandise idea, boyshort underwear ... another proposed addition to The Mound's band merchanding arsenal ... don't look at me, I'm just a singer in a rock-n-roll(?) band ... among other things ...
This idea is per co-dictator the spanglemaker's wish and member guapa's photo after their recent trip /s to London (see his wish and her photo of the original neon sign here: DSC02957)...
If this passes the approval process I'm sure it will warm up those cool Spring nights on The Mound tour bus.
Additionally, it is hoped that this hot number will heat up merchandising sales and help defray the maintenance and fuel costs of the tourbus ... maybe even replenish the rapidly diminishing supply of kahlua :D!
Isn't life strange
A turn of the page
A book without light
Unless with love we write;
To throw it away
To lose just a day
The quicksand of time
You know it makes me want to cry, cry, cry -
But I go on forever"

Why do we never get an answer
When we're knocking at the door?
With a thousand million questions
About hate and death and war.
It's where we stop and look around us
There is nothing that we need.
In a world of persecution
That is burning in it's greed.
Why do we never get an answer
When we're knocking at the door?
Because the truth is hard to swallow
That's what the wall of love is for.
It's not the way that you say it
When you do those things to me.
It's more the way that you mean it
When you tell me what will be.
And when you stop and think about it
You won't believe it's true.
That all the love you've been giving
Has all been meant for you.
I'm looking for someone to change my life.
I'm looking for a miracle in my life.
And if you could see what it's done to me
To lose the the love I knew
Could safely lead me through.
Between the silence of the mountains
And the crashing of the sea
There lies a land I once lived in
And she's waiting there for me.
But in the grey of the morning
My mind becomes confused
Between the dead and the sleeping
And the road that I must choose.
I'm looking for someone to change my life.
I'm looking for a miracle in my life.
And if you could see what it's done to me
To lose the the love I knew
Could safely lead me to
The land that I once knew.
To learn as we grow old
The secrets of our souls.
It's not the way that you say it
When you do those things to me.
It's more the way you really mean it
When you tell me what will be.
Why do we never get an answer
When we're knocking at the door?
With a thousand million questions
About hate and death and war.
It's where we stop and look around us
There is nothing that we need.
In a world of persecution
That is burning in it's greed.
Why do we never get an answer

"When all the stars have fallen down into the sea and on the ground, and angry voices carry on the wind, a beam of light will fill your head and you'll remember what's been said by all the good men this world's ever known."

Plenty of opportunities at this location, in-fact this beach deserves two days to explore, another time. Having spent a couple of hours at this location I took few shots of different vartaions and angles.
On this shot I was waiting for Richard to give the go ahead as when a wave approached so can catch the tidal flow over the rock.
Quite pleased with results and love the mood in this shot
Arca Swiss 5x4 Velvia F32
The tide and sea conditions have to be just right for the waves to cascade over this 3 meter high rock. Yes, it’s bigger than it looks in the image!
I was perched on the opposite side of a gully waiting for that moment to happen experimenting with different shutter speeds. The south westerly wind blew the sea spray towards me as the water spilled over the ledge. I always wrap the camera in polythene on days like this to avoid the salt damaging the camera. You can’t always catch the colourful sunset but this still makes a DraMatic SeaScape. I love trying to capture the OceanMotion.
Taken with Canon 5D mk2 at 16mm on 16-35mm f/4 lens and a 0.9 (3 stop) hard grad ND Lee filter.
Like the SUN through the trees you came to love me
Like a leaf on the breeze you blew away
Through Autumn's golden gown we used to kick our way
You always loved this time of year
Those fallen leaves lie undisturbed now
Cause you're not here (x3)
(Instrumental break)
Like the SUN through the trees you came to love me
Like a leaf on the breeze you blew away
