This view was part of a circular I did from Aira Force, it takes in some breathtaking views, showing what the Lake District has to offer.
Late day scene at Red Rock Lake with a storm passing overhead, and a few breaks in the clouds to the west. Just over the high ridge that makes up the Continental Divide the East Troublesome fire is an hour old, but is already putting copious amounts of smoke into the air. Before it would fizzle out 10 days later (still not 100% contained as of now) it would burn almost 200,000 acres/ 312 square miles/ 81,000 ha, destroy over 500 buildings including 300 homes and kill two people. The origin of the fire is still unknown, though it is likely human-caused.
"I have seen the sea when it is stormy and wild; when it is quiet and serene; when it is dark and moody. And in all these moods, I see myself."
Martin Buxbaum
Going through some old shots while isolating due to Covid and here is one from the end of August of a moody Druridge Bay
A pretty waterfall in Pennsylvania. Here is lowered the shadows, decreased the clarity, lightened the highlights, and added some vignetting to play around with the mood of this capture. Also reduced the saturation and vibrancy too.
A moody evening at Mudeford just now. I really just wanted to get out of the house after a weekend of dull inspiring weather. I wasn't really expecting to take any photos but this location offers plenty of opportunities when you get a calm high tide. No filters used.

A moody, damp morning at Emerald lake in Yoho National Park, didn’t stop these die hards from getting some canoe action in 👍❤️
I like how this one turned out. I don't think I've ever posted a bird photo with lighting like this. I didn't change the background in editing. The Cardinal was just in strong direct light and the background was shadowed. Photographed in Maryland earlier today.
A photo I captured on a moody day up in Northern Norway this summer! One of my favourite areas to shoot
Austria series: Moody Marmots ll (cinematic edition)
Last August was very wet in the Austrian alps. When we visited the marmots, there was a constant, cold drizzle and low clouds crept over the mountain tops. But alpine marmots are adapted to this kind of weather and it didn't diminish their appetite. Curious as always they checked us out for nuts.
I've processed this photo a bit differently (hence the cinematic edition) to match the mood created by the lousy weather that day.
