Arts on Main – Johannesburg's Arts on Main is breathing new life into the city centre and is an important feature on the South African arts and crafts landscape. This inner city development provides a stimulating space for artists from many disciplines, including film, literature and contemporary art, to create and sell their work.

Digging through the archives from our UK trip last may... One of the must see buildings in Leeds, UK. This building is over 100 years old and has been restored into a small shopping mall

Boats went out before sunrise in hopes of catching nice Bluegills.

The Fish were jumping out of the water in this cove.

... with apologies to Wm, Shakespeare.

Early evening on Sandsend Beach with wavy, lenticular clouds.

Johannesburg right now—a place of about 4 -million—feels like a hectic, history-scarred city full of hustle and optimism that’s brashly shouldering its way into the global arena.

Part of this manifests in the rise of street-fashion crews that pay homage to the long-standing local tradition of men competing for cash prizes over who wears the swankiest suit.

Thus far, the best-known of Johannesburg’s many fashion crews is the Smarteez, so named because its members make dressing “smart” look “easy,” and also because they wear bright colors that evoke Smarties candies (the English equivalent of M&M’s)—colorful on the outside, black inside.

South Africa became one of the first countries in the world to ban smoking in public places in 2000.The law put a serious dent in the smoking culture in South Africa, as it prohibited smoking in restaurants, pubs, shopping centres and offices.

The South African smoking laws were tightened even further in 2009 when the government banned smoking in partially enclosed public places such as covered patios, verandas, balconies, walkways and parking areas, as well as smoking in cars where there were children under the age of 12 present. Children under the age of 18 were also prohibited from entering designated smoking areas and purchasing cigarettes.

Not my theme but just going along for the ride. I so love how compared to colour, mono contrast can be pushed so differently and this is what i wish to explore :) So from now on the only colour you'll see in mondays uploads will come from text alone.

Today marks the first day back to school for our two kids since the beginning of the '2 week lockdown' that occurred over 3 months ago...

Mask wearing is mandatory for highschoolers, primary aged children perhaps not, I'm not too sure, but it looks like a lot of kids will be wearing masks during class attendance for at least the remainder of this year.

I still find mask wearing confronting but with children it feels the worst, a greater level of sadness to the symbolism attached perhaps, like somehow we've failed them or something...
