Catching a moment of good friend and fellow tog Rob whilst he catches his breath during one of our recent bushwalk/waterfall hunt late last year.
Happy Mono Monday!
Here we see Australia's winter morning sunrays directly warm up my laundry basket left outside overnight.
Happy Mono Monday!
The Johannesburg's Zoo's elephants, Lammie (34) and Kinkel (30), are African elephants and have been together since 2001. Kinkel was born in the wild in 1983, but after an injury from a poacher's snare, making it impossible for him to return to the wild, he came to the Zoo. Lammie, a female, was born at the Zoo in 1979. African elephants are the world's biggest land animals.
Their behaviours are somewhat different; Kinkel is a male and more used to living alone and is more boisterous. Lammie is a female, and in the wild females live in family groups of mothers and children. They are calmer than males, but will not hesitate to charge when they or their babies are threatened.

Post BUMPED on 09/15/2014. I normally loathe Flickr whores who constantly bump posts but this is one my favorite monos for MonoMonday!
The Spy Who Came in from the Cold is a 1963 Cold War spy novel by British author John le Carré. It has become famous for its portrayal of Western espionage methods as morally inconsistent with Western democracy and values. The novel received critical acclaim at the time of its publication and became an international best-seller; it was selected as one of the All-Time 100 Novels by Time magazine. In 2006, Publishers Weekly named it the "best spy novel of all-time”
Lions are the only cats that live in groups, which are called prides. Prides are family units that may include up to three males, a dozen or so females, and their young. All of a pride's lionesses are related, and female cubs typically stay with the group as they age.
Female lions are the pride's primary hunters. They often work together to prey upon antelopes, zebras, wildebeest, and other large animals of the open grasslands. Many of these animals are faster than lions, so teamwork pays off.

This monochrome image reminds me of the 1950's sci-fi movie genre and could have been titled "It Came From Beyond the Dunes". It also brings to mind the long history of monochromatic astrophotography. One way astronomers use #monochrome photography today is by taking a series of images through RGB filters and then combine them to create a color image. See one of my Mars images at the link below:

Revisited this photo with Orton technique. I think I still like the HDR version best. But it is interesting in Black & White too.

It's Tuesday, that can only mean it's time for #monomonday.... Late again!
A relic from by bygone era, the Wolseley Six Eighty sits in the garage of the Sewing House, an abandoned house in Norfolk.

I still find it odd that Australia gets a public holiday for the Queens Birthday but the UK does not (lol). My daughter and I spent a portion of the day down at our local gorge, here's a few grabs. On and check out the gif below :-)
Cheers Queenie! Happy Mono Monday!
History and tradition are great, but should be used for learning and memories, but not constrain us in moving forward. The lines of this 1931 Ford are delightful and the car is many times more photogenic than today's beasts, but I'm not sure I would enjoy a cross country trip in one of these.

Tried to get out the safe net of darker images as there is no point doing this in the comfort zone :)
Still i end up with a dark subject or should i say near dead subject! Had a little play with doing my tonal adjustments through white balance changes rather than leaving it to the contrast, got some interesting results to say the least.

A slice of Pyestock in black and white for #monomonday (Yes on Tuesday, I'm always running late!)
NGTE Pyestock was a jet engine testing facility. The UK's finest ever industrial explore location was once used to simulate the conditions of flight at up to 1,500 miles per hour and an altitude of over 60,000ft. The engines for aircraft such as Concorde, V Bomber, Harrier and Tornado were tested to destruction here.

My friend Jack Graff went home to angels Saturday. He was 83 and had a pulmonary lung disease. Jack was a decorated Veteran, a Navy pilot and bigger than life. I am going to miss him dearly. The last thing he said to me Thursday was, "I want another dog." Jack absolutely loved dogs. Godspeed brother. His favorite saying was, "So, other than that Mrs. Lincoln, how did you enjoy the play?" I said that to him right before I snapped this shot :)
On a recent Meetup with Simple Street Photography we were sent out to capture portraits of strangers and here's one of my favourites
