A moment caught as Aiko Goto addresses the Penrith Youth Orchestra and gestures to project the sound out towards the audience.

I've loaded the Ilford Delta Push Pull filmsim onto my XT4. It asks for 12800 ISO if you can manage, I had to compromise with 6400. It's such a risk, the RAW is essentially garbage if the vibe doesn't work. Pixel peeping these shots is not great but there can be a charm about them. I shall have to tinker more, see if I can get away with some far lower ISO shots that make the RAW usable and add the grain in post.

Technology and Social Media seems to be taking over the world.

Saturday 26th June at 6pm saw the beginning of a 2 week lockdown (possibly to be extended) for certain areas of NSW including my stomping ground the Blue Mountains. This coincides with our school midterm break so I think we'll all go a bit stir crazy! Thankfully exercise is permitted so I will be taking full advantage of our local national park which is within walking distance from our home. I shall try and make a daily photographic logbook to pass the time. Here's day one.

Another from my series of countertop shots the other day. When I got bored with instruments and fruit, I went for the cutlery drawer.

Taken using the halogen spots over the black granite counter. No additional lighting used.

Blue moon

You saw me standing alone

Without a dream in my heart

Without a love of my own

Blue moon

You know just what I was there for

You heard me saying a prayer for

Someone I really could care for

And then there suddenly appeared before me

The only one my arms will hold

I heard somebody whisper please adore me

And when I looked to the moon it turned to gold

Blue moon

Now I'm no longer alone

Without a dream in my heart

Without a love of my own.

Jokes, it's actually tea, the kid isn't doing coffee yet. But I am! And it's Monday morning and I need mine!

Could'nt resist taking a picture of these 3 each doing his own thing and seemingly not listening, the best for me was the girl glaring at me just as I took the picture

10 Reasons Why You Should Never Chimp While Shooting Street Photography

Chimping– it is a disease and an unhealthy addiction that runs rampant within the digital photography community. What is chimping you ask? It is the act of looking at your LCD screen the second after you take a shot. Why do they call it chimping? Well imagine if you think you got a great shot, you show other people, and point to your LCD screen while saying “ooh ooh ooh” like a chimpanzee.

Why is this bad when it comes to street photography?

1. You can miss the decisive moment.

2. It puts unnecessary pressure on you.

3. It interrupts your flow.

4. It kills your battery life.

5. You can potentially delete good photos.

6. You enjoy the shooting experience more.

7. You don’t need to use a film camera.

8. You learn to trust your instincts.

9. There is no real reason to.

10. You risk the ridicule of being made fun of by your friends.

What's yours? Judging from this session I'd say about 10%! Thankfully my friend and subject Steve here says he likes more just 1/10 (I think he's just being nice!).
