Petite visite à la Monkey Forest, prudence..

Rangez vos lunettes, téléphones portables et agripez bien votre appareil photo.. Ce sont d'habiles voleurs.. Ayez les yeux partout et je vous déconseille de leur donner à manger. Ils paraissent inoffensifs mais j'ai rencontré un touriste qui s'est fait mordre à plusieurs reprises, obligé d'aller à l'hopital tous les jours pour se faire des piqures contre la rage... Soyez prudents. Les singes d'Ubud sont cependant moins agressifs que ceux d'Uluwatu.

La Monkey Forest d'Ubud est une réserve naturelle située à Ubud (Bali). Elle abrite plus de 200 macaques crabiers (Macaca fascicularis). Quatre groupes de singes différents occupent chacun son propre territoire dans le parc. C'est une attraction très prisée par les touristes à Ubud. La Monkey Forest appartient au village de Padangtegal, où siège son conseil d'administration. La Padangtegal Wenara Wana Fondation gère la Monkey Forest, son but étant de préserver son caractère sacré et de promouvoir les lieux en tant que destination pour les visiteurs.

Les singes évoluent en toute liberté dans ce sanctuaire. A l'entrée du parc sont affichées des consignes de prudence à l'attention des visiteurs, les réactions de ces animaux étant parfois imprévisibles, y compris lorsqu'on leur tend de la nourriture.

Monkey in the Swayambhunath temple complex in Kathmandu

Tuan is a Bornean orangutan and was found wandering in a city in Taiwan. He evaded capture for 3 days and put some people in hospital but is actually a lovely boy. Well done to the Taiwanese authorities for allowing him to live!

He was probably taken from the wild to be kept as a pet.

He now lives at Monkey World and has 3 babies so far!

I wanted to get a video of the zapping-laser noise that squirrel monkeys make. You can sort of hear it before he runs away.
