The construction started in 1750 as a luxurious royal garden for royal families to rest and entertain. It later became the main residence of royal members in the end of the Qing Dynasty. However, like most of the gardens of Beijing, it could not elude the rampages of the Anglo-French Allied Force and was destroyed by fire. According to historical documents, with original name as 'Qingyi Garden' (Garden of Clear Ripples), the Summer Palace (Yiheyuan) was renamed after its first reconstruction in 1888. It was also recorded that Empress Dowager Cixi embezzled navy funds to reconstruct it as a resort in which to spend the rest of her life. In 1900, Yiheyuan suffered another hit by the Eight-Power Allied Force and was repaired in the next two years. In 1924, it was open to the public.

The infant River Calder passes underneath Monk’s Bridge on Cold Fell in Cumbria. It was built for the monks of Calder Abbey, who would have crossed it on their many journeys, and is the oldest packhorse bridge in Cumbria. Iron ore would have been carried over it from Ennerdale to smithies on the fells to be smelted. The bridge is also known as Matty Benn’s Bridge, after the family Benn who lived nearby.

This was a page that didn't turn out the way I wanted, so I color washed it and found part of an invitation to an Indian wedding, and glued it onto the page.
Then found one of the photos I had of a monk in Myanmar, and drew him in silhouette.
The watercolors didn't like the shiny invitation page, so I had to add drops of liquid soap to the water, and then - it worked.
Good enough!
2 female monks we saw on our way to mahaboadhi temple ..two baboons behind them joined them for the photo shoot :-)
This was taken at the temple near the sitting buddha in Hong Kong. I like how the monks, with their colourful clothing, are conducting a service in the background
Monks receive two meals per day, breakfast and lunch and they are not allowed to eat after 12:00 noon.
