Los Parakeetos were a fun and fairly common addition to Barcelona and we enjoyed seeing them. Barcelona 4/9/07
Quite by accident we found out that a theatergroup was going to perform the English Mystery Plays at Monk Bretton Priory. We were curious as to where that was and what it looked like, so we went for a day out and (of course) took our cameras with us!!
Monk Bretton Priory is an old ruin in the town of Barnsley, South Yorkshire. It's just a short busride and walk from where I live.
As you can see we had glorious weather that day and taking pictures there was absolutely fantastic. It's a huge site and even when there are more people around the peace and tranquility is maintained.
The site is freely accessible for picnics, wandering around, silent contemplation or anything else you can think of.

This young monk showed me and another two or so tourists around. Very nice guy, as far as I remember, and his English was really good.

The Hawaiian Monk Seal is an interesting animal that maintains a solitary existence and can dive to depths of over 500 meters to forage on deep sea prey. Human activity, predators, and environmental conditions have decreased the species population to just over 1000 individuals, resulting in endangered or critically endangered status. In addition, some features of its complex life history is making recovery a difficult process.
Given all that, we observed a few individuals, such as the one in this photo, returning to the same beach areas each day for what looks like an untroubled nap in the sunshine.
