A bare-bones arduino is used to pulse simulated PWM (Pulse Width Modulation) on digital pins 2-13 lighting attached LEDS, simulating a sine wave. The net effect is random fading in/out of the LEDs a little like twinkling stars.
The layering corresponds to Milankovitch cycle

The packets reflect the 100 ka modulation of the 21 ka precession cycle. Local disruption of the packaging can be used to locate hiatuses in pelagic strata."

Das demografische Grübeln geht bereits lange vor Konzertbeginn los: Woraus setzt sich die grönemeyersche Fangemeinde eigentlich zusammen? Auf seiner aktuellen Tournee «Das Beste von Gestern bis Mensch» spielt er immerhin für ein Publikum von weit über 500 000 Menschen. Nun, es findet sich der leicht angegraute Popliebhaber aus alten «Das Boot»-Tagen neben der gutmütigen Industriekauffrau, der Musikpluralist im abgewetzten «Santana»-Shirt neben dem jugendlichen Fan.
Der Meister kennt sein Publikum. Er schmeisst sich sofort in Stadionrockpose, joggt flott über die ganze Bühnenbreite und schmettert seine schnörkellose Stahlrohrpoesie mit kehliger Stimme ins Stadionrund. Nach zwei Haudrauf-Rocknummern stimmt Grönemeyer eine balladeske Nummer an, bei der ihn sein Saxofonist und ein mehrköpfiges Streicherensemble begleiten. Als auf der Videowand schliesslich ein Fan in Grossaufnahme gezeigt wird, der einen «VFL Bochum»-Schal schwenkt, hebt Herbert sofort zu seiner legendären Zeile an: «Tief im Westen, wo die Sonne versinkt.» Ein erster Höhepunkt, den er mit der Modifikation einer weiteren Zeile nachdrücklich markiert: «Bist keine Weltstadt wie Zürich.» Im Hintergrund werkelt derweil Grönemeyers äusserst versierte Band, die ihn mit modernen Grooves und souveräner Popmusik begleitet, mal stampfend und funky, mal entrückt und besinnlich. While MOCA generally encourages green transportation, NPR asks that visitors bring their cars to this event. FREE parking will be available in public lot 7; entry is accessible from Judge John Aiso Street.
In Your Car will feature two concurrent sound projects broadcasting on local frequencies, Park Park Revolution and Ping Modulation.
Park Park Revolution will be a composition “played” by cars parked in the lot surrounding the Geffen Contemporary. NPR will divide the Geffen lot into four sections, with each assigned to its own broadcast frequency. Directed into parking spaces, drivers will be instructed to tune in their radios and turn up their volumes to create a quadraphonic matrix of sound.
Under the canopy located at the Geffen entrance, Ping Modulation will pay homage to artist Robert Rauschenberg’s Open Score. For this project, NPR will outfit ping-pong tables with contact microphones and sound processors; as visitors match off in games of table tennis, the noise of their play will be fed to radio broadcasts that will transform their participation into sound art.

Pure tone glissandi make the wires resonate in very low, inaudible frequencies, whereby the resonations are visible as “stationary waves” along the individual wires. Minimal differences in the lengths of the wires bring forth modulations of the frequencies and engender visually perceptible movements that are propagated over the entire wave field—a self-contained mobile micro-polyphony.

The Palatine Chapel, is the royal chapel of the Norman kings of Sicily situated on the first floor at the center of the Palazzo Reale in Palermo, southern Italy.
Commissioned by Roger II of Sicily in 1132 and built upon an older chapel (now the crypt) constructed around 1080.
The mosaics being only partially finished by 1143.
The sanctuary, dedicated to Saint Peter, is reminiscent of a domed basilica. It has three apses, as is usual in Byzantine architecture, with six pointed arches (three on each side of the central nave) resting on recycled classical columns.
The mosaics of the Palatine Chapel are of unparalleled elegance as concerns elongated proportions and streaming draperies of figures. They are also noted for subtle modulations of colour and luminance. The oldest are probably those covering the ceiling, the drum, and the dome. The shimmering mosaics of the transept, presumably dating from the 1140s and attributed to Byzantine artists, with an illustrated scene, along the north wall, of St. John in the desert and a landscape of Agnus Dei.
Below this are five saints, the Greek fathers of the church, St. Gregory of Nissa, St. Gregory the Theologian, St. Basil, St. John Chrysostom and St. Nicholas.
The three central figures, St. Gregory, St. Basil, St. John Chrysostom, allude to the Orthodox cult known as the Three Hierarchs, which originated fifty years earlier.
Roger II of Sicily depicted on the muqarnas ceiling in an Arabic style.
The rest of the mosaics, dated to the 1160s or the 1170s, is executed in a cruder manner and feature Latin (rather than Greek) inscriptions. Probably a work of local craftsmen, these pieces are more narrative and illustrative than transcendental.
The chapel combines harmoniously a variety of styles: the Norman architecture and door decor, the Arabic arches and script adorning the roof, the Byzantine dome and mosaics. For instance, clusters of four eight-pointed stars, typical for Muslim design, are arranged on the ceiling so as to form a Christian cross.
Muqarnas ceiling
The hundreds of facets were painted, notably with many purely ornamental vegetal and zoomorphic designs but also with scenes of daily life and many subjects that have not yet been explained. Stylistically influenced by Iraqi 'Abbasid art, these paintings are innovative in their more spatially aware representation of personages and of animals.
The chapel has been considered a union of a Byzantine church sanctuary and a Western basilica nave.
The sanctuary, is of an "Eastern" artistic nature, while the nave reflects "Western" influences.
Nave
The nave, constructed under Roger II, did not contain any Christian images.
These were added later by Roger II's successors, William I and William II.
The nave's ceiling consists of Greek, Latin and inscriptions.
The frame for the royal throne sets against the west wall of the nave.
There are six steps leading up to where the throne would be, along with two heraldic lions in two roundels upon the spandrels over the throne frame gabel.
Sanctuary
As an expression of Norman culture, St. Dionysius and St. Martin are represented in the sanctuary.
Mosaics are of Byzantine culture in their composition and subjects.
The apex of the dome consists of the Pantokrator, with rows of angels, prophets, evangelists and saints.
The Byzantine motif ends abruptly with scenes from Christ's life along the south wall of the southern transept arm, while the north wall consists of warrior saints
iSwarm is a swarm of luminous “sea creatures” that interact with passers-by. Subtle and hardly visible by day, iSwarm comes alive at night. As daylight fades, the cells of iSwarm illuminate the waters of Marina Bay with fluorescent light reminiscent of natural phenomena such as bioluminescent algae or the Aurora Borealis. iSwarm reacts to groups of visitors by detecting human presence and greeting them with subtle modulation of its light patterns.

12 Interlocking Irregular Hyperboloidal Dodecahedra 360 units
4-fold view.
Following an initial prototype with only a singular unit type which attempted a hexahedral symmetry analog of 30 Dodecahedra, I developed this more nuanced version, which has a different exterior weaving pattern and multiple paper proportions. However, as a constraint, I attempted to use only one pocket type for all of the units. This makes some vertices different than others in terms of the dihedral angles of the surrounding units, but the edges shafts are long enough to accommodate modulation between vertices without appreciable difficulty in most cases. This is constructed via scaffolding so that each dodecahedron represents one edge of a cube. The resulting compound is at the time of writing this, the largest interlocking origami cubic symmetry wireframe compound by unit count that I know of.

Ein Meister der Modulation: Herbert Grönemeyer liess sich und seine Musik im Stadion Letzigrund feiern.

Das demografische Grübeln geht bereits lange vor Konzertbeginn los: Woraus setzt sich die grönemeyersche Fangemeinde eigentlich zusammen? Auf seiner aktuellen Tournee «Das Beste von Gestern bis Mensch» spielt er immerhin für ein Publikum von weit über 500 000 Menschen. Nun, es findet sich der leicht angegraute Popliebhaber aus alten «Das Boot»-Tagen neben der gutmütigen Industriekauffrau, der Musikpluralist im abgewetzten «Santana»-Shirt neben dem jugendlichen Fan.
Der Meister kennt sein Publikum. Er schmeisst sich sofort in Stadionrockpose, joggt flott über die ganze Bühnenbreite und schmettert seine schnörkellose Stahlrohrpoesie mit kehliger Stimme ins Stadionrund. Nach zwei Haudrauf-Rocknummern stimmt Grönemeyer eine balladeske Nummer an, bei der ihn sein Saxofonist und ein mehrköpfiges Streicherensemble begleiten. Als auf der Videowand schliesslich ein Fan in Grossaufnahme gezeigt wird, der einen «VFL Bochum»-Schal schwenkt, hebt Herbert sofort zu seiner legendären Zeile an: «Tief im Westen, wo die Sonne versinkt.» Ein erster Höhepunkt, den er mit der Modifikation einer weiteren Zeile nachdrücklich markiert: «Bist keine Weltstadt wie Zürich.» Im Hintergrund werkelt derweil Grönemeyers äusserst versierte Band, die ihn mit modernen Grooves und souveräner Popmusik begleitet, mal stampfend und funky, mal entrückt und besinnlich. Bereits in der ersten Konzerthälfte gleiten sie dann in eine blubbernde Version des letztjährigen Superhits «Mensch». Das gesamte Publikum singt mit, und sofort kriegt man eine ehrliche Gänsehaut, die bis zum Ende des emotional und musikalisch mitreissenden Konzerts anhält. Und dann geht das dermatologische Grübeln los.
