Communication plays a vital role in our day-to-day life. Regardless of a student’s ultimate area of specialization, knowledge of communications concepts and applications is no longer optional, it is essential to understand today’s multidisciplinary applications.
This book is primarily intended to serve as a text book in accordance with the syllabus of digital communication systems, offered by Rajasthan Technical University, Kota. In this a significant effort has been made to find simple ways to develop theoretical aspects of digital communication systems. A strong emphasis has been given on numerical problems and objective questions.
In this covers the mathematical background, Pulse code modulation including DPCM and Delta modulation, Baseband signal Transmission, Digital modulation techniques, etc.

A DIY theremin based on the PAiA Theremax. We did a little circuit bending and brought out some touch strips for introducing interesting modulation into the classic theremin sound. It's very responsive and has a great sound with lots of rich harmonics. This build turned out a sturdy, high-quality instrument that also looks very cool :)
My latest work in progress. Pin wheels are used to control the amount of light entering to the sensors, controlling frequency and modulation.
Waveform of peents recorded off Hipsley Mill Rd. in Howard Co. on 10 March 2014. Modulation caused by turning of Woodcock after each peent.
80fs pulses at 800nm wavelength (infrared) about 800microJoules per pulse focused before a sapphire window. In the window nonlinear processes (self phase modulation etc..) will take the IR light and produe a full spectrum of light (up to blue is seen in the photo)
To give an example, I had this loaded with the following:

Kate Beck
Modulation , 2010
Graphite of paper on aluminum floated in maple frame

PG# KB.0021
Pelavin Gallery is proud to announce a solo exhibition of recent work by American artist, Kate Beck. This show will include large scale poured oil paintings and graphite drawings on aluminum panel. This will be Beck’s first solo exhibition at the gallery, and in New York City.
In this new body of work, Beck continues her engagement with repetitive tonal rendering as a means of interaction between light and shadow, human thought and consciousness, and the dynamic architectonics of space. This time she takes the essence of form further by using aluminum substrates, allowing modulating marks of graphite and poured oil to accumulate and shift amidst the confines of the geometric shapes. Tension oscillates between formalistic geometry and existential space; an allusion to thought and consciousness, and the passage of time.

Both are interrupt driven. The left side uses BCM (Binary Code Modulation), the right side uses 'dumb' software PWM.
Identical hardware!
Part of the set last taken earlier this week [fank u eraine] with a couple old thrift store finds. (Dress and my personal favourite, the radio. Lol.)
This is the schematic/circut for the perfboard pic I posted earlier. It controls a common cathode RGB LED using three transistors. Thus, it works great with microprocessors (like the Arduino), allowing one to control the intensity of the three colors using PWM (pulse width modulation) to create any color. See the note for the simple parts list. If you have any questions, post a comment.

As more than 400 new radios arrived from National Guard Bureau on Apr. 24, Staff Sgt. Sean Bryson, from the 124th Communications Flight, finishes the final preperation on the encrypted radios by inspecting and testing every radio before issuing and distributing the radios to units on Gowen Field. Bryson tests power, frequency error, recieve sensitivity, modulation and threshold squelch. (U.S. Air Force photo by Tech. Sgt. Becky Vanshur)
Konzert Herbert Grönemyer
MENSCH-Tour
Letzigrund Zürich, 18. Juni 2003
Tages-Anzeiger, 19.6.03:

Intention: I wanted to capture these flowers soaking up the sunlight.
Reference to the reading : Freeman says Removing the quality of color from an image enhances its other qualities. With the modulation entirely in tone, the eye pays more attention to texture, line, and shape. The textural qualities of the surfaces play an important role in this print, and have been enhanced by using a hard paper grade to keep the background a rich, dark black.
Outcome: I felt adding the sepia tone to this made it look vintage.
Edits: This photo was cropped. I turned the highlights down, turned up contrast and blacks turned up clarity and dehaze. added an adjustment layer of levels and a hue and saturation adjustment layer to colorize and add the sepia tones.

Alain Wergifosse

Cow’s Skull with Calico Roses Date:
1931
Artist:
Georgia O’Keeffe
American, 1887–1986
ABOUT THIS ARTWORK
In 1930 Georgia O’Keeffe witnessed a drought in the Southwest that resulted in the starvation of many animals, whose skeletons littered the landscape. She was fascinated by these bones and shipped a number of them back to New York City. She later wrote, “To me they are as beautiful as anything I know. To me they are strangely more living than the animals walking around… . The bones seem to cut more sharply to the center of something that is keenly alive on the desert even tho’ it is vast and empty and untouchable—and knows no kindness with all its beauty.” The bones provided her with interesting shapes and textures, and she painted them frequently, intrigued as much by their symbolism as by their formal potential.
In Cow’s Skull with Calico Roses, O’Keeffe decorated the skull with artificial flowers, the kind used to adorn graves in New Mexico. Tucked against the ear and the jaw, the flowers appear less morbid than simply decorative—a whimsical addition that relies on the soft, ruffled petals to alleviate the hard, polished severity of the skull. O’Keeffe then exquisitely balanced the subtle modulations of the white and gray tones of the skull and flowers with a bold vertical streak of dark brown that irregularly bisects the composition. With the skull positioned against a muted, layered ground in close proximity to the picture plane, the composition conveys a sense of the organic yet abstracted beauty typical of O’Keeffe’s art.

The TG-33 sound module is a slightly enhanced key-less version of the SY-22. It is a digital synthesizer that employs frequency modulation (FM) synthesis combined with low-fi (12-bit) ROM samples. However, this machine is not low quality (especially for the electronica-oriented musician). Its preset sounds are a bit thin, however using the joystick controller you can manipulate and combine the 12-bit samples with the any of the 256 FM vector voices. This gives it a range of tone and sound that is as dynamic and mysterious as other vector synths such as the Korg Wavestation and ProphetVS.
Also available is a drum kit, effects, 8 part multitimbrality for layering sounds and 32 note polyphony! Definitely a powerful little beast that can create pretty nice sounds with lots of motion and character. With its wide range of sonic possibility, the TG-33 has what it takes to create unique sounds that will keep you and you're music sounding a little different from the rest!
