What these systems developed during the last two centuries fail to take into account are the evolutionary leaps and bounds the manufacturing industry has taken over the last decades. With the introduction of CNC technologies and rapid prototyping machines have altered the paradigms of fabrication forever. It is due to these new tools that it is now possible to create (n) amount of completely unique and different pieces with the same amount of energy and material that is required to create (n) identical pieces. The possibilities for implementation of new forms, textures, materials and languages are infinite due to the versatility that these new tools offer a growing network of architects, designers, fabricators that are integrating them into their professional practices to generate unique and precise objects that respond to countless data and real-life conditions.

The goal of this image was to show off the bracelet and its shadow. Freeman said, “In visual terms, black and white allows more expression in the modulation of tone, in conveying texture, the modeling of form, and defining shape.” I love how this image turned out because by taking away the colors, I am letting the viewers focus on the shadow and the slightly romantic feel the image is giving off. Edits: Converted this image into black & white, minor cropping, and minor increase in brightness, clarity, and highlights.
I can recognize Alfred Brendel playing Schubert on the Radio long before they announce the performer. This Pianist specializes in Schubert and plays it magically. He plays a Bosendorfer and he generates a sound which is both warm and constructive. He maximizes Shubert's modulations with ease and imagination (almost to mystical levels). How do I know this? because I have listened to Brendel since my teans when he came to my School and played a recital.

Ein Meister der Modulation: Herbert Grönemeyer liess sich und seine Musik im Stadion Letzigrund feiern.

Das demografische Grübeln geht bereits lange vor Konzertbeginn los: Woraus setzt sich die grönemeyersche Fangemeinde eigentlich zusammen? Auf seiner aktuellen Tournee «Das Beste von Gestern bis Mensch» spielt er immerhin für ein Publikum von weit über 500 000 Menschen. Nun, es findet sich der leicht angegraute Popliebhaber aus alten «Das Boot»-Tagen neben der gutmütigen Industriekauffrau, der Musikpluralist im abgewetzten «Santana»-Shirt neben dem jugendlichen Fan.
Der Meister kennt sein Publikum. Er schmeisst sich sofort in Stadionrockpose, joggt flott über die ganze Bühnenbreite und schmettert seine schnörkellose Stahlrohrpoesie mit kehliger Stimme ins Stadionrund. Nach zwei Haudrauf-Rocknummern stimmt Grönemeyer eine balladeske Nummer an, bei der ihn sein Saxofonist und ein mehrköpfiges Streicherensemble begleiten. Als auf der Videowand schliesslich ein Fan in Grossaufnahme gezeigt wird, der einen «VFL Bochum»-Schal schwenkt, hebt Herbert sofort zu seiner legendären Zeile an: «Tief im Westen, wo die Sonne versinkt.» Ein erster Höhepunkt, den er mit der Modifikation einer weiteren Zeile nachdrücklich markiert: «Bist keine Weltstadt wie Zürich.» Im Hintergrund werkelt derweil Grönemeyers äusserst versierte Band, die ihn mit modernen Grooves und souveräner Popmusik begleitet, mal stampfend und funky, mal entrückt und besinnlich. Bereits in der ersten Konzerthälfte gleiten sie dann in eine blubbernde Version des letztjährigen Superhits «Mensch». Das gesamte Publikum singt mit, und sofort kriegt man eine ehrliche Gänsehaut, die bis zum Ende des emotional und musikalisch mitreissenden Konzerts anhält. Und dann geht das dermatologische Grübeln los.

This is the car I raced about 15 years ago when there was a track opened in Pasadena, Texas. I modified it to put LED brake lights on the back.
Intention: I wanted to capture/isolate the barn through the trees in front of it.

Outcome: I appreciate how this photo came out.
Edits: Cropped, geometry, levels. Adjusted and converted into B&W in camera raw, along with B&W sliders.
Le Guess Who? connects the old with the new. The anual music festival in Utrecht is great for musical explorers like me. So many good and weird bands to discover. Or see again.

Il s'installe pendant 6 semaines a la Gare Bruxelles-Congrès qu'il inondera de sons bizarres, d'architectures impossibles, d'ondes radio en très basses fréquences, de microscopies, de modulations lumineuses, d'érosions, de perturbations électro-magnétiques, de quelques dichroïsmes et d'autres abérrations temporaires des champs sensoriels dans une exposition/installation sonore/résidence/atelier en work in progress qui évoluera semaine a semaine pour aboutir le 18 février en un concert bien bruiteux mettant tout l'espace en résonance où Alain Wergiosse fera chanter les trains et flipper les rats.

In Spanje werkte hij met zijn power-trio Obmuz, met Nad Spiro, Macromassa, Marcel.li Antunez, Cluster, Zbigniew Karkoski, Francisco Lopez en anderen. Hij organiseerde ook mee het festival NONOlogic met Eli Gras en het LEM van GTS.
Gedurende 6 weken zal hij het station Brussel Congres innemen en bespelen. We krijgen onbestaande architectuur te zien, microscopische beelden, erosies, lichtmodulatie, electromagnetische golven worden hoorbaar gemaakt. Het geheel is één groot ‘work in progress’ (atelier/tentoonstelling/residentie) dat zijn publiek toonmoment zal kennen op 18 februari in een luidruchtig klankexperiment/concert dat de hele ruimte zal doen weerklinken als een instrument. A recount of the events of the night 8th–9th May 1942, when an intended raid on Norwich, by the Luftwaffe, was diverted away from the city by decoys and fires. In the confusion Stoke Holy Cross, Caistor St. Edmund and Poringland bore the brunt of the attack. This was one night during the ''Baedeker'' raids period.
On this night 80 Wing, the R.A.F. Counter-measures Unit were able to hear the 'Supersonic modulation' signals being imposed over the ordinary 'X'-Beams on their remodified equipment, thus allowed to put the 'Supersonic jamming' into use, use the local decoy sites to full effect, with the result the Pathfinder aircraft taken unawares were unable to effectively locate and mark, the intended target in Norwich.
The parachute flares dropped outside the City boundary, 'J' Group report ''Over Upper Stoke'' resulting in the attack developing over the Poringland Stoke Holy Cross, Caistor St.Edmund area; only 2 HE bombs actually fell on Norwich, both on the Woodlands Hospital Boiler House, causing considerable damage.
The balloon barrage was raised to 3,500ft at the onset, thus preventing any low passes attempting to locate the target, or dive bombing. This was an extremely lucky escape for Norwich, the more so because for the first time during the Baedeker series against the City parachute mines were being carried. 37 night fighters were airborne in an attempt to repel the attackers.
From the 'J' Group Log Book.
At 00:56hrs flares dropped over Upper Stoke, and intensive gunfire from Norwich and local guns; immediately followed by fall of bombs (Incendiary and HE), and a continuous and heavy dive bombing attack, covering all parishes within Group 'J', and surrounding villages. Communication by telephone found impossible, all lines down, attack continued until 01:35hrs and then slackened and ceased.
Communication with sectors 'J' 2. & 'J' 3. only by messenger service. Attached report sent over land phone from a gun position, and a further copy of it by volunteer messenger to Norwich for transmission by telephone to Wymondham Control. Casualties attended to, and persons bombed out found temporary accommodation.
At dawn, approx 05:15hrs, search made for all Ux-B's, and report of same sent by Foreman N.C.C. working party and messenger (Warden Thurston) to A.R.P. Divisional Officer, Tombland.
Fire at Howard's Farm, Stoke dealt with by local fire brigade. Local ambulance and First Aid Party on duty at first aid point.
One person (Mrs Easter of Norwich) killed by shrapnel wound at Rest Centre (Poringland Parish Hall). Mr Page (wounds dressed & despatched in ambulance to N.& N. Hospital) & Miss Johnson, both of Oak Avenue, Poringland, cut by glass & only casualties. Miss Johnson had wounds attended to and kept in First Aid Post.
Mrs Spruce, Octagon House, Bixley taken to ''Woodlands'' Hospital, Norwich by military, died next day.
At dawn approx 05.15 hrs search made for all U.X.B's & report of same sent by Foreman N.C.C. working party and messenger (Warden Thurston) Lo A.R.P. Divisional Officer. Tombland.
U.X.B.'s caused closing of following roads:
1. Poringland Street. Poringland Church to Railway P.H. at 5 cross ways.
2. Long Road, Framingham Earl, Rectory Lane to 5 cross ways at school.
3. Main Loddon Road, ''The Slads'' to Gull P.H.
4. Brickle Road (Upper Stoke), Nudists camp to 4 cross roads.
5. Lane from R.A.F. 'R' Station to Kennels Highfields) S.H.C. also Caistor Lane blocked by fallen tree in Caistor parish & Group.
One enemy plane (a Dornier) brought down & burst in flames as per report attached.

''ONE SOURCE OF INFORMATION GIVES THE TIME OF THE CRASH AS 0130 HOURS, AND THE LOCATION AS ABBOTS FARM, EAST PORINGLAND. NO DOUBT YOUR KNOWLEDGE OF THE AREA CAN CORRECT THIS (! B.C.) THE a/c APPARENTLY STRUCK A BALLOON CABLE AT A HEIGHT OF 3,500 FT, AND THEN DIVED TO A LOW ALTITUDE. REPORT STATED THAT IT PASSED OVER AN RAF STATION* (LOCATION NOT GIVEN) AND WAS ENGAGED BY LIGHT A.A. FIRE PROBABLY BOFORS. THE GUNNERS CONCERNED STATED THAT TRACER BULLETS WERE SEEN ENTERING THE FUSELAGE, SO THIS MAY HAVE INDICATED L (LEWIS B.C.) MG FIRE AS WELL. IT CRASHED IN A SHALLOW DIVE AND BURST INTO FLAMES ON IMPACT. THE COMPLETE COCKPIT AND WINGS OUT TO THE ENGINES WERE DESTROYED, BUT ABOUT 15 FT. OF THE REAR OF THE FUSELAGE COMPLETE WITH TAIL-UNIT AND ABOUT 12 FT. OF ONE OF THE WINGS WERE LEFT IN REASONABLY INTACT CONDITION. ONE INTERESTING POINT WAS THAT THERE WERE SEVERAL GASHES IN THE TAIL WHICH MIGHT HAVE BEEN CAUSED BY ANTI-AIRCRAFT SPLINTERS.**
THE FUSELAGE MARKING WAS U5+EH, REPEATED ON THE OUTSIDE OF EACH FIN IN WHITE LETTERS, 7 INCHES HIGH. THIS CONFIRMS THE AIRCRAFT'S UNIT AS 1/KG.2. VARIOUS MANUFACTURER'S PLATES RECOVERED SHOWED THE TYPE AS DORNIER WERKE TYPE E2 (DO 217 E-2) BUT ONE PIECE OF PLATING GAVE TYPE E4. THE WERK-NR. APPEARED TO BE 375, AS THIS NUMBER WAS FOUND STENCILLED IN SEVERAL PLACES INSIDE THE FUSELAGE.
ARMS AND ARMAMENT: TRACES WERE FOUND OF A POWERED TURRET (00217 E2) PLUS THE REMAINS OF ONE 13mm. MG 131 AND ONE 7.9mm MG15 HAD BEEN THROWN CLEAR OF THE WRECKAGE. A FURTHER MG 131 WAS FOUND IN THE REMAINS OF THE NOSE/COCKPIT AREA, PROBABLY REPLACING THE 20mm OERLIKON FF CANNON PREVIOUSLY FOUND IN D0217 AIRCRAFT. FINALLY IN ADDITION TO NORMAL INTERNAL BOMB STOWAGE (2 x 1,000kg and 2 x 500kg) 3 EXTERNAL 500/X11 CARRIERS WERE FOUND, A FOURTH PROBABLY BEING DESTROYED. THIS WAS THE FIRST TIME EXTERNAL RACKS HAD BEEN FOUND ON A CRASHED D0217, ALTHOUGH IT WAS KNOWN THAT STRONG POINTS FOR EXTERNAL CARRIERS EXISTED. THE REMAINS OF A BZA 1 DIVE-BOMBING SIGHT WERE ALSO FOUND.
YOU ARE CORRECT IN STATING THAT ONLY THREE BODIES WERE FOUND, ALTHOUGH A FOURTH CREW MEMBER WAS PROBABLY CARRIED.***

Memories of the Stoke Holy Cross 1942 Air Raid. Recorded by Derek Bales in June 2018.
My vivid memory of the very heavy air raid on Stoke Holy Cross district on the night of 8th May 1942.
Following an air raid alert the family were sheltering under a large oak table in the living room, about half an hour into the raid which began just before 1am our windows were breaking and ceilings falling, my father who had served in the First World War thought the house could collapse on us so decided to make for a small meadow we owned situated 200 yards south of our farmhouse, his decision was based on the fact that in 1939 an army TA unit had used the meadow for a brief period and in so doing had dug some deep holes which remained unfilled, father hoped these grave size holes would afford us some protection.
Making this perilous journey was my father Herbert aged 46, mother Kate 43, brother Dennis 14, myself 8 & sister Mary 6, our oldest sister Gwen 20 was on duty with the auxiliary fire service. Every time we heard the whistle of a falling bomb father would lie on top of me, and mother on top of Mary.
We were only some 30 yards from the house when we first had to drop flat, as we got to our feet I saw tracers from a nearby bofors gun heading skyward and at the same time observed a plane with traces of flickering flames. I learned later that this was almost certainly the Dornier which had seconds earlier collided with a balloon cable. The bomber crashed in Poringland soon after.
We had to lie flat a number of times whilst making the 200 yard journey with at times shrapnel cutting through the tall hedge beside us, incidentally shrapnel is still being found at the site. After reaching the safety of one of the open holes we stayed put until the all clear sounded.
Within seconds of the all clear Mr. Barnard who lived in a house nearby called out ''is everybody alright'' soon after any people assembled at the Froude family home nearby.
Daybreak revealed that just 100 yards from where we had been sheltering 3 bungalows had been destroyed, debris from a Mr Keens car had been blasted some 60 yards into the Froudes back garden, Mr Froude, Mr Barnard and my father were attempting to put out burning car tyres, Father tied a scarf around his face to try to keep out the toxic fumes.
Four HE bombs fell on our 29 acre farm leaving our house stripped of roof tiles in addition to the other damage.
The following morning I ventured into one of the bomb craters, the blast from this had scorched an area of emerging swede crop, on the surface of the same field I found an incendiary bomb which I reported to father.
The Stoke radar receiving station was less than 200 yards from our house, whilst walking the perimeter fence I observed some machine gun damage to the metal fence and have a vague memory of some downed fencing. Just yards from the NE corner of the radar R site was a dry pit which incendiaries had set ablaze early in the raid, I still remember the smell of burning bracken and also seeing some incinerated rabbits.
Three of the bombs that fell on our land were each recorded as 250kg the other bomb was 500kg, however 2 of the 250kg left only smallish craters (about 4ft deep) this suggests they were fitted with Karf rings, a band fitted around the waist of the bomb to prevent deep penetration and so cause more surface damage.

L (Luftflotte): This was the largest operational and administrative unit in the Luftwaffe. It translates to ''Air Fleet'' for example, Luftflotte 2 operated primarily in the Mediterranean and Western Europe.
''R'' (RLM): This stands for the Reichsluftfahrtministerium (Reich Aviation Ministry), which controlled all aspects of aviation in Nazi Germany. You will also see Ob.d.L. which means Oberbefehlshaber der Luftwaffe (Commander-in-Chief of the Air Force).

A multimeter is attached to the driver's positive current output and output return to measure current that will be supplied to the diode (leads on the left). An adjustable, regulated linear power supply is attached to the driver's v+ power input and ground connections (leads on the right). A cell phone wall wart rated at 5V 180mA (measured at 5.3V) was pressed into service to supply the modulation input voltage. The driver requires the interlock connection to be closed, but for some reason, I connected it to ground. We fired it up with 7.1V at ~100mA and got no current out. We were successful in illuminating a red LED. We double checked our connections. We sat around, offering "hmmmms" and "maybe's" and I reread the driver's documentation which clearly indicates an interlock connection to V+.
