Modular Origami Star (Maria Sinayskaya)

I know it looks a lot like Katharina Star by Carmen Sprung, but what can I do...

Check out my Youtube Channels Modular Wild and Raul's World of Synths for more Eurorack.

Handcrafted origami star ball made of 30 sheets of high quality origami paper. Each sheet has been painted silver where the petals of the little roses are. The pattern does not require glue to put it together, but for stability and durability, I have glued the pieces together. The ball is about 3.5 inches in diameter.

An iridescent ribbon has been threaded through the top to allow it to hang.

I found the diagram for this beautiful modular ball and had to make it pink because it is called the Little Roses Kusudama design. I painted the petals to be silver as a nice accent. Very cute!

Talk about recycling...this previously used modular building was completely renovated into a beach front restaurant and bar

Felt, thread and sterling silver. April 2011.

I have been laser cutting felt as part of my experimentation with textiles and textile techniques. I stitched together this form as part of a series of jewellery based on the theme: Organic Modular Structures. This felt object can be manipulated into different forms by pushing a side in to form concave surfaces anywhere on the form.

Here's a new modular origami mandala I came up with today. Still working on the name. #origami #modularorigami #origamimandala #morigami

Lindbäcks Bygg

Västerås, Sweden

Main living quarters complete with big tv, sofa, lazy boy, bed, wardrobe, bedside cabinet with alarm clock and lamp. Far end is the minimal kitchen just enough for what a bachelor needs.

The frame I'm coupling is also going to be a disco through-axle machine, so I'm using modular dropouts on it. Alas, they don't come with mounting tabs, so I need to do some horrible tweakery to make everything work. I have a bucket full of seatstays that I'm probably never going to use, so I took a couple of them, chopped a section out of the middle to fit over the existing drop ends (which are slotted, and if I cut off the slotted parts, would put the wheel too close to the seat tube), carved them into points, fitted the in place, then filed them to fit (more or less; the file I used cut a more generous curve than the dropouts provide. FORTUNATELY brass can bridge that small gap!)

I made a rube goldberg-style jig out of a couple of sections of ⅜" tubing and a couple of wooden blocks, so I'll just balance it on top of the chainstays and tack the dropouts into place before flipping the thing dropouts down and gluing the bilam pieces and building up a fillet.
