This Trek 720 frame was one of the models without canti posts. Jeff Lyon brazed the cantilever posts and the hanger onto the rear triangle. Nice clean work.

I visited Haines Point at lunch today. The weather, as you can see from the sky in the background, was rapidly turning sour. A light rain was starting to fall, and a cold autumn wind was kicking up in earnest. Looking around for an interesting subject, my attention was captured by this heavily modified boat tucked along the hillside. The mottled paint showed a significant amount of aging, and I truly wonder about the intended purpose of the boards that were added on top. With the tall grasses blowing in the wind on the crest of the hill, I thought it made an interesting overall scene.
Post processing started with a classic filter in Topaz B&W FX. I adjusted color sensitivity sliders, adaptive exposure, regions, contrast, boost black, boost white, details, and protect highlights. A levels adjustment was added in PSE.
This is a photograph from the 1st round of the 2015 Mullingar Road League which was held in Belvedere House and Gardens, Mullingar, Co. Westmeath, Ireland on Wednesday 6th May 2015 at 20:00. This year the 5KM was ran on a modified route based on the route from the last couple of years. Tonight the final 1KM stayed within the Belvedere Gardens bringing runners down to the lakeside for a second time and finishing along the aptly named Stream Of Life. The route modification meant that the race offered a slightly faster route than the hill finish of previous years.
The race is promoted by Mullingar Harriers for the Pat Finnerty Memorial Cup. Competitors need to run 3 races out of the 4 races in May (any order) to be considered in the overall placing in categories at the conclusion of the league. Over 350 people took part in tonight's event. The weather was perfect for running with sunshine with just a little breeze. The new finish area provided a nice space for runners to stay around and chat in the evening sunshine. The Mullingar Road League 2015 has started off successfully and looks to add to the success in the history of this great series.
The "Road League" is something of a misnomer but is an indication of the League's origins on the roads around Ladestown Mullingar prior to it's move into Belvedere in 2008. The Road League is the envy of many other races in the country as the Belvedere locations offers a completely traffic free 5KM route.

As mentioned above we take these photographs as a hobby and as a voluntary contribution to the running community in Ireland. Very often we have actually ran in the same race and then switched to photographer mode after we finished the race. Consequently, we feel that we have no obligations to capture a photograph of every participant in the race. However, we do try our very best to capture as many participants as possible. But this is sometimes not possible for a variety of reasons:
►You were hidden behind another participant as you passed our camera
►Weather or lighting conditions meant that we had some photographs with blurry content which we did not upload to our Flickr set
►There were too many people - some races attract thousands of participants and as amateur photographs we cannot hope to capture photographs of everyone
►We simply missed you - sorry about that - we did our best!
You can email us petermooney78 AT gmail DOT com to enquire if we have a photograph of you which didn't make the final Flickr selection for the race. But we cannot promise that there will be photograph there. As alternatives we advise you to contact the race organisers to enquire if there were (1) other photographs taking photographs at the race event or if (2) there were professional commercial sports photographers taking photographs which might have some photographs of you available for purchase. Machined a set of 4: 4 in. tall riser blocks for a twin cylinder steam engine. Here they are getting a trial fit. Next job: making longer valve rods and connecting rods.
Turn the potentiometer knob by hand. At some point in its travel, the motor will stop. That's where we want to leave it. At this point we just want to learn the centered orientation of the knob -- we'll readjust it and fix it in place later.
Try this: once the potentiometer is properly centered, the motor will stop running. Now move the stick on the transmitter. Move it one way and the motor goes one way, move it the other way and the motor reverses. When you put it back in the center, the servo should stop again. Listen to the servo when it's stopped. If the potentiometer isn't perfectly centered, you may hear a little humming. You can tweak the pot to eliminate the hum.

iPhones are shiny, a bit to shiny. So i brushed the steel edge to make it smooth and remove old scratches. It took about 20min.
the edges might look a bit harsh on the pictures, but i think its because i oversharpened the pictures a bit.

Holes drilled, outside of holes chamfered. I cobbled this rig together so I could chamfer the inside of the holes. Used a piece of 3/16" dia rod in the chuck with a flat ground near the bottom end. I attached the single flute countersink with a turned aluminum shaft collar equipped with a pair of #8-32 setscrews. Works a treat!
I decided to document my modification of the Polaroid SX-70 Sonar camera that Bela gave me for Christmas. This image shows my set-up for working on the changes described here.
Popping the ring and the original filter off was easier than I expected, and getting the new one to stay in with the ring in place was much harder.
Now I'm going to attempt some trial photos outside during the day and hope that I don't need to do any more changes.
Update: I've since replaced the jewel-case plastic with a thinner, but still strong, piece from a clear plastic report cover. It's similar to overhead transparency but a little thicker, and it fits much better than the jewel-case plastic.

Here's how I got my Photojojo lenses to stick to my iPhone 4.
1. Bought a Griffin Reveal case to stick the magnet ring to, since it won't stick to the iPhone glass. It has a small enough hole that the magnet won't fall in. The ring centers nicely at the corner of the case.
2. Used wire cutters to chop a segment out of the ring so I can still use my favorite flashlight app. (I rarely use the flash with the camera.)
3. Used needle nose pliers to bend the jagged ends downward into the case so they won't snag on things.

I bought Hi-Rezâ„¢ Performance Trackball Encoder Wheels, and the new wheels reversed the action. Action is SMOOTH... indeed fast enough to keep up with optical mice, but disoriented.
These boards aren't labeled very well-- there's no clear marking for data wires (i.e., X1/X2 or XA/XB) and so Randy has asked me to take photos so he can guide me through which wires I need to swap.
