Walter had been acquiring land in Oxfordshire, Bucks and Yorks early in 16c In 1523 he leased the Beaufeu manor here as his residence and after Oseney Abbey was dissolved in 1539 the advowson was granted to Richard Andrewes and Leonard Chamberlain of Woodstock who sold them in 1544 to son Richard in whose family they remained until 19c
In his will Walter bequeathed whatever sum as was necessary, at the discretion of his wife Isabel and son Richard, be provided for removing the tiles and lead from the roof, carrying out repairs and re-roofing the parish church recorded with their images in a window here www.flickr.com/photos/52219527@N00/8423272587/
He also requested burial wherever he died and the Augustine Friars in Oxford was chosen who were bequeathed an annual income in return for prayers for his soul
Although Walter did not request any commemoration in his will a memorial brass was commissioned which was in place at the Augustine Friars at their dissolution in 1538
At this time many tombs and monuments were being defaced and sold, Walter's son Richard therefore took steps to buy his parent's brass and brought it back here to be united with their stained glass window www.flickr.com/photos/52219527@N00/8423272587/ .

Round the edge in latin is the text from the Vulgate version of Job xix 25-27 in plural form

In 1845 the marginal inscription became loose and on inspection revealed that the brass plate had been reused and that parts of the Curson brass were palimpsests, . The male effigy had been modified with a new head and feet for Walter and that the lower portion of Isabel’s brass was an earlier 15c plate. On the reverse of her upper plate was a palimpsest of a lady c1440, the new upper part having been engraved for Isabel. .
This original mystery couple were identified as Simon Kemp Esquire and wife Margaret (both d1442) who had been buried in Holy Trinity Priory Aldgate,London dissolved in 1532 when fixtures and fittings were sold off (this plate to the Cursons)
Their inscriptions reads "Simon Kamp iacet hic marmore carne sepultrus Lumine suffultus spiritus assit hinc. Anno Millemo Quarter C quadra secundo. Hic Margareta simul uxor contumulatur. Vicesima Sexta feria … decima que die Septembris post obiit uxor celum sibi spero paratum"
The origins of the brass demonstrate from the time of Curson’s death in 1527 until Aldgate Priory was dissolved and the Kemp brass removed c1532 . Again within 6 years the now Curson brass would be removed from Austin Friars c1538 to Waterperry. .

Well, I got an x-acto knife and some brown paint recently, so I painted a few weapons that I had lying around and wanted to paint. Also, I wanted to try to make better mods than my original, very crappy mods. I think all these came out well. Please tell me what you think. :)

This commercial structure is the home of a sporting good store in Wise, Virginia—named appropriately Sportswise [ www.sportswiseonline.com/ ]. A stone slab near the top dates it from 1909. It’s red brick commercial-style architecture. The façade above the ground level is symmetrical in window placement and in ornamentation. Below the parapet of the flat roof brick is used in many decorative features. The sides use quoins of different color brick as does the frieze above the store’s logo and the partial friezes above the topmost windows. The windows are paired on the second and third level, placed within three exaggerated, elongated arches, each with a keystone. Vertically between the windows are panels of stones and above that a raised brick panel. Stone panels also are located between the upmost windows and the arch. A set of three smaller windows also with keystones is centrally placed at the top level between the partial friezes, above which are bricks used in a dentil pattern. The sills are also of stone. A wide area of corbelling of the brickwork occurs to each side of the quoins on the front façade. The street level is undoubtedly a modification of the original structure. Below the store’s name, which extends the width of the building, are three doors; the middle one is flanked by quoins.

At Lego shows in 2024, my Castle class would occasionally derail when there was a kink in the track, particularly when entering corners.
I put this down to the chassis setup I'd chosen, based on Carl Greatrix's previous Castle model, whereby the rear bogie wheels were fixed to the main chassis. In some cases, it seemed these wheels were getting raised off the track by the driving wheels behind.
I've now re-worked the chassis to have a more conventional pivoted bogie. There is still only 1 set of flanged drivers, to allow the bogie to not crash sideways into the cylinders. However now the bogie is on a single pivot, positioned above the rear bogie wheels.
This should help to 'steer' the loco into corners, and the little shoulder on the pin piece also helps to keep the weight on the bogie wheels.
I kept looking at the purple circle and thinking: it's missing something...So, I took it apart this morning and added some orange stitching.

Most disposable cameras have this type of circuit for the flash system. Modify it thusly and it shall become a form of taser. "Knob" is the subject to zap. 300V primary zap, 11KV secondary. All from a AA cell :)

It was Omar's 16th Birthday and he said he wanted to get his ears pierced. I decided that I would make his first piercings a memorable event so took him to Jade Dragon to get it done right. I didn't want him to have the same experience I had with my first piecings. Done by myself at home with a needle and a potato, and then having to wear a hoodie for 2 weeks so as to hide my pircings from my parent.
I'm proud of this kid, he took it like a champ, Not a single tear was shed throug the whole process.
