We counter-sunk the screws into the grooves so they would be invisible in the finished piece.

My wife's family came to visit us from out of state. On Saturday we all visited the North Carolina Maritime Museum at Southport. They had a large display of model boats and ships. The primitive boat was the first one I noticed in the display.

Operation Pluto (Pipe-Lines Under The Ocean) was a Second World War operation by British engineers, oil companies and armed forces to construct undersea oil pipelines under the English Channel between England and France in support of Operation Overlord, the Allied invasion of Normandy in June 1944.

When I go yachting at the boat pond, South Lake Union, it soon becomes clear that my boat is community property. How can I say, "don't touch" when the kiddies have taken charge to cast-off my fine vessel with such enthusiasm. Its best to just remain sitting at the bench as though this boat has no owner.

The RNLI Dún Laoghaire Lifeboat Station had their Open Day for the public on Sunday 22 July 2012. The RNLI Sea Safety Roadshow was on hand along with members of the Irish Model Boat Club who displayed their lovely hand made model boats. The Irish Coast Guard and the Customs Dog Unit were also along to help support the day. There was also face painting and RNLI goodies for everyone. The public had the opportunity to talk to the Lifeboat crew and to get onboard the RNLB Anna Livia which was berthed alongside the Station for the event. Hobart Maritime Museum- a model of the very first sailboat to circumnavigate Tasmania.

My Australian-built RC model of the preserved Norwegian coastal steamer, had another workout on the Wollondilly recently.

Like the lower cabin, the bottom of the wheel house is concave to match the curvature of the deck it attaches to.

The main deck of the boat is actually convex, and you can see the lower cabin matches that curve.

The glue had really yellowed after almost 50 years. It was still holding strong though!

The standing rigging of the foremast and bowsprit are now complete. Next come the spar braces between mainmast and foremast. The ropes to the stern rail are temporary.

The lower cabin deck surface has been painted. Next step is to expose the wheel house doors for an application of dark brown paint.

The fleet as it was some years ago. Now with some sold to make storage space and a few additions.

* This is the 24" model of J/30.

The model dimention is 24" (W) x 8.5" (H) x 4.5" (D). The size of the backboard is 30"(W) x 13.5"(H).

The model scale is 1/15. The model weight is 11 LBS. The model shown with Ebony wood backboard. The model is built with gelcoat & fiberglass using 2 parts mold.
