1:48 Scale Builder's model after restoration

Model boats on the local pond

My usual quick snap of the boats positioned for transport so that I can reload them correctly for the return journey, this one being for a recent display in our local Maritime Museum.

Planked with 5mmX1mm plywood planks. that job seemed to take forever, then I had to do the same on the deck.

Wilson experimental ship model. This is the original model used by Robert Wilson to demonstrate the efficiency of screw propellers against paddle wheels in dunbar harbour in 1826. The model is propelled by a clockwork motor.

In 2008, National Museums Scotland commissioned Maori artist George Nuku to carve a new stern post for this canoe. It is made using transparent acrylic. This canoe may originally have been a Maori fishing canoe, with war canoe features added later. George Nuku, Ngati Kahungunu.

Frank owns this wonderfull rowing boat driven by an electric motor, and is a big crowd puller on sunny Sunday mornings at Black Park Lake. Great detail with even a grama-phone player on the back of the boat !!

These are radio controlled yachts that only use wind power and they have to be sailed with skill.

Somewhere to put my best photo's! Everytime i climb the stairs i get the motivation to get out with the camera.

* This is the 24" model of 1978 - C&C 36.

 

The model is mounted on the Honduras Mahogany backboard. The model scale is 1/18.

 

The model dimension is 24"(L) x 8"(H) x 4"(D). The size of the backboard is 30.5"(W) x 13.5"(H). The model weight is 11 LBS. The model scale is 1/18.

Furness Model Boat Club member Melvin Peacock's radio-controlled fast electric powerboat 'Merlin's Magic', capable of 40mph, captured at speed on Barrow Park's lake during the penultimate regatta of the club's 21st anniversary year.

Home Brew 2 is scratch built from balsa wood, to my own design. It has working lights, smoke & JJC twin cylinder diesel sound.

Believe it or not, there are tiny plastic windows which will attach to the inside of the wheel house!

Operation Pluto (Pipe-Lines Under The Ocean) was a Second World War operation by British engineers, oil companies and armed forces to construct undersea oil pipelines under the English Channel between England and France in support of Operation Overlord, the Allied invasion of Normandy in June 1944.

The lower cabin deck attaches to the top of the lower cabin. Again, I had several of these included in my box of parts, but this was the only one that hadn't been used.

 

You can see attachment points for the Wheel House, Smoke Stack and Mast. And all those little holes along the perimeter? For individual brass rails!

The box of parts I bought contained a number of pieces for the lower cabin. This one, which had already been assembled, seemed to be in the best shape -- just need to cover up that botched paint job!
