Our "Tonki" has gone missing... :-(

the "shadow" is still there but the house is missing...

Hylands Park, Chelmsford 160613

This place was built in 1806. By the mid nineteen sixties 5 residential house parents lived there, 3 non residential house parents, a daily domestic staff consisting of cook, seamstress, gardener and 4 cleaning ladies, together with a lady to iron. Many of the domestic staff were from the small, picturesque village of Bramham. It closed it's doors in the mid 1980's. Today it lies derelict and slowly crumbling.

Trip photos are nice, but today's photos are always the best!

This is looking head-on at a different Assassin Bug in the Reduviidae family of the order Hemiptera - probably the Four-spurred Assassin Bug (Zelus tetracanthus). You can see its mighty proboscis and the four spurs across the back of its thorax behind its head. I found this one today on yellow composite flowers of Coastal Goldenbush (Isocoma menziesii) in the Asteraceae plant family on a dry bluff above the Santa Ynez River. See my [Previous] photo of the same insect. (Paradise, Santa Ynez River, 6 September 2013)

I was hoping for butterflies by the river today, but I only saw a few. Maybe it was just too darn hot for them - it was 104°F where I was at the river today! But insects are generally missing in the drought-weary woods this year. I'll be happy when we get some real rain, but that might not be for another month or three. It's a tough year for nature.

My friend is missing this white knob for the clamp on his roof tent. Think it is a standard M8 thread, same as an exhaust stud on a standard aircooled VW head.

Here are some pics of Seth and Sarah...my babies...

They are away this week on spring break in Florida with their school band...(Seth plays trumpet, and Sarah is a dancer)

They will be performing in the Main St. parade in Disney tomorrow...Everytime I think about not being able to see them do it...I almost vomit...

I'm so happy for them and proud of them...but it's killin me...

The "Fosse" shot is actually a sp of Sarah's, the rest I took...the kid with Sarah in the b&w is Matt not biologically my kid...but my kid...one of her best buds...and someone she proclaims (on her flickr stream)

she would marry if he weren't gay... I love Matt too honey...

Kevin went missing! I brought (one of my 3) Kevin into my government class and two of my best friends kind of...uhm...duck-naped him. They didn't tell me though, which led to some interesting shennanigans. I told all of my teachers and everyone that i saw in the hallway. I then also had a picture of kevin on the last slide of a powerpoint that i had to present (the day he went missing) and made a short speech about kevin and the fact that i lost him...one of the 2 friends from my government class was in there and just laughing the entire time...I then went as far as giving the AV club a picture of Kevin and having him on the morning announcements.

I got him back though. So it wasn't really a huge problem...but it deffinetly made those few days more interesting!

(they are with their grandparents)
