In April, 3rd 1862, Les Miserables was launched simultaneously in 7 cities around the world.

Leipzig, Brussels, Budapest, Milan, Rotterdam, Warsaw, Rio de Janeiro and Paris.

This is my tribute to Master Victor Hugo.

The Tony Award-winning musical is being performed under the direction of Broadway star and WCU distinguished professor of musical theatre Terrence Mann.

I added brass strips on the drawer tops which had to be built up for a flat veneer job.

The weather intensifies and the judges wonder whether they can effectively hold a long jump competition

When I took this picture, I was as the title says, miserable.

Hope that the feeling is showing through the picture, that was my intention.

First attempts at off camera flash. The only "model" who was prepared to sit was this ugly sod.

Wish he'd cheer up a bit.

Close up of the drawers. Someone had glued in new green felt having misinterpreted something about sow's ears and silk purses.

Pretty much sums up the weather in Edinburgh today.

On a lark I bought this box on eBay for, I think $10.00, and when I received it I really thought I'd overpaid. Note screen door handle.

Con el mundo en contra busca salida en la musica, es Rap, por plasmar la urbe, porque cada instante se deshace entre los dedos y no vuelve.

Looks like a possible grain barge. Taken in miserable conditions as it appears to be struggling to make progress against a fast receding Tide

I put some dividers into the top drawer. Actually, I had originally intended for this thing to be a catch-all in the garage for small tools and drill bits. Obviously, it got away from me.

Another popular one last time around, especially topical with those big bonuses the city boys are getting despite the recession they led us into!!

Lianne turns up in a miserable mood at my place!

Thanks for all the views, please check out my other photos and albums.

Looks positively monolithic from this angle. Don't much care for the wierd reflections caused by my primitive lighting, though.

And I stayed home with a sore throat and cough.

Close up of drawer fronts. The vertical alignment of the knobs is not an optical illusion.

Drawer fronts, inside lid and portions of the main case were veneered in matching burl. Frog Tape masks off the case while the burl is shellaced, no stain or dye needed. Really good looking stuff. I elected to shellac these at this stage so that, even while masked, any dyes used on the case seeping onto the burl would just wipe off.

First sanding. The wood was in such poor condition I just decided to hell with it, I'll just veneer the entire thing. I probably shouldn't admit this, but I used the packing material the fancy Plane tree veneer came wrapped in.

Poor kid sweat through his shirt.

R&ER No.9 'River Mite' sits at Dalegarth 'For Boot'. The locomotive, and its stock were at Dalegarth for some considerable time, this was because the driver found white metal on one of the bearings.

This is the beginning of a really bad day... I'm sure of it. I received a phone call this morning that my mother's new dentures were ready. This should have been good news, as she's been worried about them taking so long. When we left the house this is what the sky looked like... a storm rolling in. I got mom into the car and made sure the "emergency umbrella" was in the back seat. 2 minutes before we left the office, the skies opened up and let out a downpour! Being the dutiful daughter, I ran to the car to get the umbrella. Of course I know that if I were the SMART daughter, I would have brought it inside with me... but I digress! I am now pretty darned wet. Soon to become even wetter because I'm holding the umbrella over said elderly mother who is using a walker. No Problem and No Complaint from me! When we get home it is still raining, albeit not as hard as before. I walk my mother into the house still protecting her with the umbrella. I am soaked - wet and miserable. Mother's a little damp herself; it was afterall, a downpour! She immediately complains to me that the teeth don't feel right... there seems to be a slight overbite. I ask if the fit is ok... her response: Yes. This is all still good... stay with me now.

I say: Perhaps you just need to wear them a couple of days to get used to them, that's how I am when I get new glasses.

Apparently, this was NOT the thing to say... As I have never had dentures (she was especially forceful in pointing that out). I told her, that was true, I never had, and apparently it is nothing like getting new glasses.

Ladies and Gentlemen, this seemingly innocent discussion turned into a huge grudge match. With me trying to tell her that I was AGREEING with her. She was humming with her fingers in her ears.

I am now on the other side of the house wondering... What the Hell just happened? Sigh.... I hate my life.

Detail of the edge veneer.

Meanwhile, the Black & Decker box silently mocks me from a corner of the kitchen. I still don't know what I'm going to do with it. But I'm sure when the time comes, it'll take on a life of it's own. A bottle of veneer glue lurks.
