I don’t need a reason to appreciate this amazing planet but, I have been fortunate enough to find a way to appreciate it. Photography has been my pathway to some beautiful corners of the world and as a photographer I have come to appreciate that, often, the world can be it’s most spectacular when the weather is at it’s most unpleasant.
It was our last morning in Torres Del Paine national park. We would shortly be leaving to cross the border into Argentina and I was back at Lake Pehoe waiting for sunrise.
The weather was miserable. It was raining and the clouds were low and thick with Los Cuernos almost completely obscured. With sunrise almost gone I was sitting on a cliff underneath my rain jacket questioning my sanity when I started to see a slow break in the clouds.
Miserable is beautiful.

Many Thanks for all your views, faves and very kind comments.
Not all holidays go as planned. Somehow this year you find yourself alone at home. Your dinner sucks, your relationships are failing and those anti depressants don't seem to be working. Pull up a chair and join us at Tannenbaum for a Miserable Holiday...

The metal roof may be new(er),but this abandoned farm's future,is definitely miserable.Given a texture for Texture Tuesday...
CN 2423 leads train L501 under the signals at Paris as a torrential downpour takes place.
I followed 501 from Caledonia to Paris with this being my last shot at 0725.
Having CN brings handful of cowls back from the deadlines has been exciting but tough to get one leading...so I'll take it.

I still hear your voice, tryna rip my world to pieces
But I'm not your toy, you can break and leave there bleeding
The damage is done, moving on if I'm ready or not
But you drag me through mud, here I come now, I'm petty as fuck
Illinois Central GP38-2 9624 was putzing around Cedar Rancid on a miserable day in 2004.
The weather was so crappy that the local ducks were just hanging around and taking in the sights and smells of town.
This over weight gray squirrel can defeat both baffles. The feeders are five and a half feet from the railing. He can clear that in one jump.
but don't worry and.... stay safe!
an huge hippo at just 10 miserable meters.
the hippopotamus is one of the most dangerous animal of the world and it's totally unpredictable.
but under certain conditions you can be safe.but don't be fool and don't forget...the hippo is the king of the pond!!

In what turned out to be an absolutely miserable day to be a conductor made for decent photos. MQT 2041 2104 roll up the yard lead in Ludington as freezing rain is coming down in buckets. The conductor in a full Carhartt get up was a complete sheet of ice that could hardly walk by the time he got to the office.
Not quite the sunrise I was hoping for this morning, the conditions where getting worse by the minute, shooting when it's windy and raining doesn't give you much time to set up your shot before the lens is covered in rain drops, however sometimes you just have to make the best of the conditions that are presented.
On August 10, 2012 Bruce Gallagher and Darrell Quimby are into the last mile with a Simpson log train, nearing the dry-sort yard at Dayton. The other two SW1200s were on the rear as manned helpers assisting on the run up the hill from Shelton, though by this point one of the helpers had cut off to return to town.
Didn't hang about here for too long with those threatening clouds moving in!!
Stay Safe Everyone!
Thanks to everyone who views this photo, adds a note, leaves a comment and of course BIG thanks to anyone who chooses to favourite my photo .... Thanks to you all!
Miserable Morning - This interesting mood of light and fog appeared to me in early September, this year. What makes this photograph special to me is how the soft light hits the top-side of the leaves and how the left-sided tree trunk is lit up from the side.

Look at me! I am cold and hungry. What can you do for me and my children?
COVID-19 time everyone feels uncertain and overwhelmingly afraid. We all are miserable.
Here's proof that it's not always sunny here in Australia (as a matter of fact - we're being told by the weather bureau that there's a likelihood of moderate flooding expected locally during the next 24hrs!!!)
I thought the birds posture and expression mimicked the sense of feeling miserable - hope it puts a smile on your face!!!
Hoping you have a terrific day and week!!!

There is a possibility of significant snowfall coming our way this week! It will at least be very wet, windy and cold for a few days. It reminded me of the wet weekend we had in Jasper last year! This bear was going after some grain that spilled on the tracks after a train had gone by. It was near our lodgings. I think it was a momma bear who was just hungry. Park staff gently nudged her away from our area with a paint gun. I felt sorry for her as she was trying to do her best to survive and the miserable weather probably did not help.
