The powerful flow of water along Pond Brook allowed the mills of Mechanicsville to thrive in the 1800's and early 1900's.

My first trip to Mill Lane, Walton-on-the-Naze. This was a lovely old boat called Patricia. Does anyone know what the top four sets of numbers refer to?

The Old Mill in North Little Rock was completed in 1933 and is featured in the opening scenes of "Gone With The Wind". The structure is a re-creation of an an 1880's water-powered grist mill and was built to appear abadoned.

This is my second visit to this site, which was a water-powered cotton mill at the turn of the 19th century. Only the dam and a few scant ruins of the factory remain.

The Corn Mill stands dramatically on a rocky ledge above a waterfall on the River Maigue. The mill, built in 1850, is no longer in use as a mill. Its great mill wheel, which is 8.25m in diameter, is one of the largest in Ireland and has been restored to full working order.

Abbey Mill at Tewkesbury in Gloucestershire isolated by a flooded Mill Avon River. Abbey Mill is thought to have foundations dating from the 12th Century, when the River Avon was diverted through the town. The present building was built in 1793, but this part of the mill was added in the 19th century. The fictional "Abel Fletcher's Mill" in Dinah Craik's novel "John Halifax, Gentleman" is based on this mill.

This is a result of the River Sence in Leicestershire.

The source of the power for old flour milling over a hundred years ago. Mill Ruins Park is my favorite place for taking a walk the whole year around.

Preston Mill , near East Linton, stands on the river Tyne. There has been a mill on this site since the 16th century. The present mill dates from the 18th century. It was used for oatmeal and operated commercially until 1959. It is owned by the National Trust for Scotland.
