These were taken in 2006 at Spring Mill State Park (one of my favorites). They were taken with an old digital camera, 2.5 megapixel, I believe.

Low Mill in the distance. Low Mill is reputed to be one of England's oldest cotton mills. The water flowing from the bank is the millrace, the water that flows past the old oak tree in Caton
The Historic Clifton Mill is one of the largest water-powered grist mills still in existence. The first mill at this site was built in 1802 by Owen Davis, a Revolutionary War soldier and frontiersman miller. The mill was built in this location to take advantage of the natural power of the concentrated water funneled into the gorge. Owen Davis and his son-in-law, General Benjamin Whiteman also built a saw mill and a distillery. Soon a village known as Davis Mills sprang up. The Little Miami River powered five other mills that were built within a mile of Historic Clifton Mill: a woolen mill, saw mill, paper mill, barrel mill and another grist mill. After considerable recent rain, streams are overflowing and fields are sodden in and near Woods Mill in Sussex.

Closer view of the left turbine. Through an opening in the wall behind the turbine, on the right, you can just get a glimpse of a piece of equipment used to help regulate the speed of the turbine.

Bourne Mill in Colchester, owned by the National Trust and open two days a week. Once a fishing lodge and later converted to a mill- if you're lucky they'll even let you turn the waterwheel on and off!

Just west of Nashville, only the limestone blocks remain of this historic mill, located on the Harpeth River.

The mill stone from Hortop Mill was invisible to me the last time I visited. I was happy to find it this time, as the brush was not grown around it, which revealied its position.
Tower of Hewson’s Mill. This mill tower is the only one of the three which formerly worked along Waterside Road in Barton-upon-Humber. It was built in 1813 for Messrs Cook and Sutton and was used to grind grain. The cap and sails were removed in the 1920’s. There were four windows on each floor and it was whitewashed on the inside and tarred on the outside.
The Savage Mill was purchased by a William Baldwin in 1859, and turned out canvas. The U.S. government used the canvas for tents, cannon covers, etc. Baldwin was able to keep the mill operating for the Federal Government during the Civil War, off-loading the raw cotton from the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad line. Today part of the mill is a restored shopping and eating area. This old building, however, housing furnances and other equipment, is slowly collapsing into the Little Patuxent River. Feb. 2, 2008.
