Mill Lake, in the center of Abbotsford B.C. rarely freezes over in the winter, so a unique opportunity to enjoy the extended snowfall this winter (2021 - 2022) with Mount Baker, Washington in the background.
So, normal people tend to bundle up, stay inside, and avoid creepy places in the middle of the night when it's in the twenties.... Not photographers... evidently we flock to creepy locals, ignore freezing temperatures, laugh in the face of pitch black doom.... All in the name of a decent photo. This is a gift shop, open during the summer. I've been itching to take a photo of it for a week or two now. Thankfully I didn't discover the no trespassing sign till the end of the shoot.... I dislike trespassing, or breaking any laws in the name of a photo. This building burned down not long after this photo, and I have never been able to correct the shot... this was originally taken in 2016.
Nant Mill is a country park in the county of Wrexham, North East Wales. It is managed by Wrexham County Borough and named after a historic corn mill located at the site
Still wandering through my hard drive clearing space. The Crystal Mill around Marble, CO, was on my bucket list quite a few years back. I had seen many photos of it in camera club competitions, so the SO and I made it one of the stops in our Fall Color loop. It's definitely NOT for the faint of heart - up a steep rough narrow mountain road. But it was a thrill to see it in person finally. So, this image a stack of 3 exposures.

A well photographed waterfall from our day trip to North Wales. I'm trying to improve my landscape technique at the moment after a day out with our friend and accomplished landscape photographer John Starkey. The weather forecast was completely wrong, so we didn't manage to do as much as we'd hoped, but the walk through the woods to this little waterfall was lovely.
We were enjoying the tranquillity of the location until someone on the adjacent estate started blasting away with a shotgun at regular intervals, oh well....

I made my annual pilgrimage to the old grist mill on Cedar Creek a few weeks ago. Being there on a cool fall day with all the beautiful fall colors and solitude always makes for a wonderfull outing. The pathway upstream also provides a nice up close view of the stream.

A very interesting abandoned sugar mill on Barbados, opened in 1912. Unfortunately the exploration was rather short, because we were caught by security.

I photographed this old mill in Brittany, France. Although abandoned some years ago, it is still in good condition. Two things that help keep old structures intact are sound walls, and more importantly, a good roof.

J'ai photographié ce vieux moulin en Bretagne, en France. Bien qu'abandonné il y a quelques années, il est toujours en bon état. Deux choses qui aident à garder les vieilles structures intactes sont des murs solides et, plus important encore, un bon toit.
Morning fog is still hanging over much of the valley near Sprankle Mills, Pennsylvania as the Pittsburg & Shawmut train from Brookville takes empty hoppers to the mines. Fortunately the sun has burned through to the trestle spanning the valley containing small stream called Big Run.
