General Information

Crayfish, also called crawfish or crawdad, are closely related to the lobster. More than half of the more than 500 species occur in North America, particularly Kentucky (Mammoth Cave) and Louisiana in the Mississippi basin. Crayfish also live in Europe, New Zealand, East Asia and throughout the world, including the Tristan da Cunha Islands. Nearly all live in freshwater, although a few survive in salt water. Crayfish are characterised by a joined head and thorax, or midsection, and a segmented body, which is sandy yellow, green, or dark brown in colour. The head has a sharp snout, and the eyes are on movable stalks. Crayfish are usually about 7.5 cm (3 inches) long.

Kirsche was not waiting to see where this was going. She launched herself straight past Lori, shouting, "Someone restrain her!" Where was she going? Well, duh, straight for the motherfucker. She nudged Zetsumei free of its sheath, bringing out in a cutting arc aimed for the ghost's head, then another aimed lower at his throat, another to cut through his midsection, before she'd finally step back and throw herself forward to drive her sword up through its gut and into its chest. She had no idea where the fuck the weakpoint on this creature may be, or... hell, how effective physical attacks would be. But all the water tipped her off that her fire magic might not exactly be helpful. [4x Cut]

Here is another closeup shot taken at the midsection of Toms Creek Falls outside of Brevard, NC. The water pattern at this exposure is a bit unique - almost curtain like. But even though the shot is in focus, it looks out of focus due to the heavy spray in the composition. Not sure if I like this or not.

On my BLOG

It came out a little too big in the midsection and the bust... I guess that is what happens when I start a garment in April, lose weight, and then finish it in October. Nevertheless, I am happy with it. I think it will get a lot of wear. It is comfy!

PLEASE READ THIS!!

I am feeling bad. One, I ate a Yodel today and I feel fat in my midsection.

But more importantly, I feel bad about the picture I took yesterday.

I want everyone to know - what I wrote on that photo had nothing to do with anyone on Flickr.

Well, maybe it did about the picture thieves.

Everything I wrote was about people I know in real life. And about a third of what I wrote was a joke.

I was finally going to skip a day as I said I won't be posting everyday, but I felt I needed to say this.

Just wanted you to know.

And by the way - I am VERY behind in comments and emails. I have about 100 people who added me as a contact that I have yet to look at.

I hope to catch up.

These snow crocuses were planted last fall in the midsection of our recently renovated "garage bed", so named as it is situated behind the garage, previously containing only a dwarf lilac. I stepped out it the rain yesterday to capture this almost side on shot as I find them almost as cheerful when furled as when open.

In Ayurveda, Abhayarishta is known as the "lord of medications". Abhayarishta syrup is a fluid natural detailing that is aged too. This fluid creation is comprised of a spice – Abhaya, another name for Haritaki.

Abhayarishta utilizes are exceptionally well known and powerful. The mixture of different spices makes this syrup helpful to utilize. A portion of the employments of abhayarishta syrup are:

I am back into the multi-year project of building a reproduction Georgian bedstead for my daughter. I have already built the frame and supporting slats, etc. The lower and midsections of the posts can be seen also in other photos in this set. So now I am up to the top components of the bedposts; getting close to where the canopy frame will sit. The little pieces that I am making now I call the capitals, since these bobbin shaped components sit atop the mid-section of the post, roughly six feet up. They are to be carved with narrow ribbon shaped leaves. The originals only vaguely resemble acanthus, so I can only say I am just trying to copy what I see in a rather inadequate photo of this part of the original bed. This shot shows the roughed-down post mounted in the lathe and ready for detailed turning.

But let me start from the beginning in subsequent pictures.

This is the midsection of my do-it-yourself HDTV projection entertainment system. An HPz560 computer is in the center. It runs XP Media Center Edition operating system to control a couple of tuners that are built into the HP box. The blue lighted thing in the center is a Thermaltake 4-fan controller bought at Fry's Electronics. It controls the four fans on the deck above that are cooling the HP unit. The fan controller has an automatic speed setting which is set by unseen temperature sensors hanging above the HP unit. The Thermaltake controller and fans are powered by a separate recycled computer power supply which hides behind my DVD cases.

The planet Ozidar was once home to a technologically advanced civilization, until a solar cataclysm rendered most of the planet's surface uninhabitable. A small fraction of the population survived in underground factories built before the calamity. From these havens they now only venture onto the surface in purpose-built machines - "Ozids" - built to survive the harsh conditions.

The SP1N3 is one such machine from the Barakis colony. Modelled on the megafauna that used to roam the surface, its fin serves as a solar collector that stores much-needed energy in giant batteries in its midsection, to help keep the colony alive. The fin also mounts a rotary cannon in case of encounters with hostile Ozids.

Old Cathedral, Jesuit church, Ignatius church

Sacred buildings and ECCLESIASTICAL INSTITUTIONS

Artists: Herbert Bayer, Arthur Viehböck, Heinz Baumüller, Pietro Francesco Carlone

Location: Dom alley 3, Rathaus quarter

District: Linz Center

Date: 1669

The Jesuit church is a Baroque single-naved church with lateral chapels and galleries, straight-closed choir, two façade towers and ridge turrets above the choir. The interior is richly decorated with stucco.

The church is on the north and west side detached, the south side is hidden by the roadside attached houses, the eastern wall of the choir joins the built after 1909 new monastery.

The main facade consists of five floors, the bottom two are subdivided by a colossal Tuscan arrangement with cranked pilasters.

The main entrance is flanked by each one pilaster and two to the middle staggered Corinthian columns supporting a blasted segmented pediment; in these is a wall niche, crowned by a blasted triangular gable with shield-shaped ornament and monogram of Christ. Put in is a stone statue of Mary on the crescent moon with folded hands.

The double-winged gate is vertically divided into three fields, of which the lower two are covered with a diamond pattern, while the top one shows rich carving. The middle of the two lower fields forms a narrow, round-arched false gate.

The gable crest is determined by a midsection provided with segment gables. Beside the central window harbor niches the stone statues of St. Franz Xaver (left) and St. Francis of Borgia (right). On the pediment stands a colossal statue of St. Ignatius, in his right hand holding the monogram of Christ with wheel of fire of perforated metal, in the left hand an open book.

Instead of the previous onion helmets that burned down in 1800, the spiers were formed in the form of eight-sided curved pyramid stumps, whose construction according to the draft of Landesbaudirektion (Regional Building Management) began 1805, after an interruption by the war only 1813 by master carpenter Franz Scheitz and coppersmith Franz Mayer completed. The putting in of the Cross was carried out 1808.

History

1669 was solemnly laid the foundation stone for the church in the middle of the threshold of the main entrance. In the same year the southwards joining city wall together with kennel from the city was purchased. 1673 the roof level was reached and started with construction of the roof. 1674 the towers were built, which were completed a year later. 1676 the church was completed. It was - still without high altar - consecrated on September 4, 1678.

The designing architect of the church is unknown, but its relationship with the Collegiate Church of Garsten (Upper Austria) suggests Pietro Francesco Carlone as the author.

The church with October 15, 2009 was put under monument protection.

Alter Dom, Jesuitenkirche, Ignatiuskirche

Alter Dom, Jesuitenkirche, Ignatiuskirche

AGM-86 Air-Launched Cruise Missile (ALCM)

The Air-Launched Cruise Missile is a long-range, unpiloted craft. It provides the U.S. Air Force with a strategic weapon that can be launched outside enemy airspace. The missile can carry a conventional or a nuclear warhead in its midsection, just in front of the wings.

Radar detection is difficult because of the missile's small size and low-altitude flight. It can fly just above treetops at 500 miles per hour. Infrared detection is difficult because the turbofan engine emits little heat.

The missile navigates and locates its target by using several guidance systems. An inertial navigation system uses sensors and gyroscopes to measure acceleration and changes in direction. It is updated during flight by a more precise system that matches the contour of the terrain using maps stored in computer memory. On some missiles, a Global Positioning System receiver uses the military's network of satellites to detect positions with high accuracy. The target system, or the missile, may use a camera and image correlator to find the target with Digital Scene Matching Area Correlation. This guidance system is especially effective if the target is moving. A cruise missile can also be equipped with heat-sensing or light-sensing devices.

The missile is destroyed when the warhead explodes. Cruise missiles armed with conventional explosives have been used during hostilities in Iraq, Afghanistan, Sudan, and the Balkans.

I was assured that it wasn't poisonous.

I re-scanned and edited this picture 1/2/20. The original was quite "crunchy", and some of the detail was lost in too-high contrast. I corrected that, while allowing the darkness of the scene remain. The description below is from 2009:

I would have hoped for a wider angle lens, but the 150mm was all I had for Large Format at the time. I came away with this slice out of the midsection of the falls, which showed off the ice nicely.

Few local business owner and organization take working with data cabling installers extremely seriously. That is up until the network in the organization begin to stop working as well as they are confronted with losses brought about by poor communication, downtime and succeeding drop in efficiency degrees by the workers. It is then that the have to choose the right data cabling contractor comes to be an important part of the future communications of the company. ob-one.com/

A gallery of hand inspiration.

I was messing around with some ideas I had for a fighter and came up with this. After a lot of structural and aesthetic upgrades (it's actually really sturdy now) this is the final result.

The Black Widow is designed entirely to be a stealth ship. It has several hidden weapon systems that fold/ hide away to give a harmless look. These include: 5 repeating canons, 2 thermal/radar tracking missile launchers, and 2 pairs of micro-missile launchers that double as landing gear. The Black Widow's cockpit is a one-man, easily accessible cockpit. It is powered by a small cold fusion reactor buried in the midsection of the ship. This sleek and elegant fighter is the personal starship of outlaw and mercenary Nathan Carter.

This was taken during a period in Kosova when the power was off more than it was on. A sign in the office of an international aid organization read, "Due to frequent power outages, the light at the end of the tunnel has been turned off till further notice." In the aftermath of the war, most people were living in grinding poverty, and a lot of them just couldn't afford the power bill. Meanwhile those who might have been able to pay tended to say, "Why should I pay it when no one else does?"

KEK (the power company) wasn't having much luck at enforcing payment. When the guys showed up to turn off the lights on someone who was way behind on his bill, one of four things were likely to happen:

1. The guy from KEK and the guy with the delinquent bill were family, or close friends, or close friends of family. So he got off with a warning and a wink.

2. The delinquent bill belonged to a war widow living with her four kids in a makeshift shack in the yard of her burned out home. Who was going to turn off her lights?

3. The delinquent bill belonged to a guy who said that he was a veteran of the Kosova Liberation Army, and he had the right to free lights because of the sacrifice he made for his nation. If there was any question as to whether he really had fought in the war, he was happy to produce proof in the form of a battered AK47 pointed at the midsection of the KEK guy, who readily accepted the evidence as overwhelmingly sufficient.

4. KEK cut off the lights, and as soon as they were gone one of the teenage sons of the house ran a new line straight from the power pole bypassing the meter entirely.

Faced with this situation, KEK decided to adopt a different tack. They divided neighborhoods into categories based on the percentage of people living in the neighborhood who paid their bill. If you were fortunate enough to have relatively wealthy and/or conscientious neighbors, then your part of town was designated Kategori A, which meant that you might be in the dark for 30 minutes a day in the winter or not at all in the summer. If your neighbors were somewhat less likely to pay up, then your area would be designated Kategori B, and you would experience more frequent and more long-lasting blackouts. If you were in Kategori C, a typical winter schedule might be 1 hour on, three hours off. There were plenty of days that it never came on at all. You definitely needed a wood stove to keep you warm. We were in Kategori C.

I'm guessing that this idea came from some UN worker who had read about collectivist societies in his sociology class in university and thought that this be more effective means to enforce payment than punishing individual offenders. In the end I don't think it worked any better than the other way. I now live across the border in Macedonia where the power almost never goes off. I hear that the electricity in Kosova is pretty reliable these days. I suppose this means that they must have finally found a way to persuade people to pay.

When we moved back to the States for a year in 2007, my son Luke, then 7 years old looked at the electric stove in our new apartment and said, "I don't get it. How is this going to keep us warm?"
