Going through an old scrapbook that I used to keep, I came across this shot of a 1997 Sauber-Petronas C16 Grand Prix Car.

I am pretty sure that I cut this picture out of an edition of F1 Racing magazine. Photographer unknown. If it's you or you know who it is, let me know and I will gladly give credit where due.

The C16 was driven in 1997 by Johnny Herbert, Nicola Larini, Gianni Morbidelli and Norberto Fontana.

However, as this picture shows, it was also tested by seven-times World Champion Michael Schumacher during 1997 at the height of the Ferrari team's relationship with the Sauber organisation. As the caption on the picture indicates, the picture was taken at Ferrari's Fiorano test track. The car has been stripped of its sponsor logos to prevent a clash with those of Ferrari.

It was driven in 1994 by seven-time Formula 1 World Champion Michael Schumacher, Jos Verstappen, JJ Lehto and Johnny Herbert. This car won 8 of the 16 Grands Prix in the hands of Schumacher and gave him his first drivers title. Benetton finished second in the constructors standings.

Applogies if you have previously seen the earlier upload, flickr seems to clip at 1:30:(..., this version has a pretty quick rate to get through, not my choice, if you really want to be bothered you can see the slower version, cause it fits just fine on youtube, but dont feel you have to..

Original version about twice as long on youtube here :)

So last weekend we were lucky enough to go to the Formula One weekend at Silverstone, along with 300,000 other race goers.

This is a slideshow of some of the snaps taken there, when we were lucky enough to get a decent look at the track, I think the vast majority of these shots are taken through fencing, which reduces contrast on most shots and depending on aperture, panning etc gives a mesh effect, which I think for some might add a little atmosphere, dunno.

Anyway snaps are of Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup, GP2,GP3 and Formula 1 Santander British Grand Prix, and the odd shot from around the circuit, rather than bore you with a batch of stills, I thought I would do a 'vid'.

'Highlights' other than the amazing cars, the very committed Jenson button fans (-0:21), a group who each had just one letter on their tee-shirts so when seen walking in a group line together spelled out Jenson on the front and Button on the rear, we just wondered about the organisation required to go to the toilet and other things.

Also note the typo on the main boards, proclaiming the next event would be the F1 Garnd prix (-0:18), maybe a bit petty (especially coming from me) but unless someone tells me that is how it is spelled in some other language?

Don't feel you have to endure a view, but thanks anyway.

Michael Schumacher - Replica

The John Barnard designed F310 was Ferrari’s contender for the 1996 Formula One season and their first car with a V10 engine. Michael Schumacher achieved three victories, three second places and two third places, enough to take third place in the Drivers’ Championship and second in the Constructors’ Championship behind the dominant Williams team. Ferrari changed to the high nose configuration favoured by other teams partway through the season.

Ferrari is arguably the most famous name in Grand Prix motor racing. Enzo Ferrari had raced cars in the 1920s, going on to run a team of Alfa Romeos as Scuderia Ferrari in the 1930s. Ferrari became a sports-car manufacturer in its own right in the 1940s and built its first Grand Prix car in 1948. Since then Ferrari has won more World Championships than any other team.

Michael Schumacher's F1 car is apparently sitting at Ferrari of The Woodlands in Texas. He won 2 races in this car.

Pictured is a 2008 Honda RA108 Grand Prix Car. The car is painted in 2011 Mercedes-Benz livery which featured on the MGP W02.

It was driven in Honda colours by 2009 World Champion Jenson Button and Rubens Barrichello. The actual 2011 Mercedes car was driven by seven-times World Champion Michael Schumacher and 2016 World Champion Nico Rosberg.

This is the last Honda Formula 1 car to be raced, Honda Racing being purchased by team principal Ross Brawn at the start of 2009 and being re-christened Brawn GP. After winning the world championship in 2009, Brawn was itself bought out by Mercedes-Benz, bringing the German marque back to Formula 1 as a constructor for the first time since 1955.

This car never got close to winning a race, it's highest position being third with Rubens Barrichello in a British Grand Prix held in atrocious conditions. That result aside, the car only scored minor points on three other occasions. Barrichello and Button would end the season fourteenth and eighteenth in the Drivers Championship respectively. Honda would end their last season as ninth best constructor.

The actual 2011 Mercedes-Benz MGP W02 placed Mercedes fourth in the Constructors Championship, the best result of 2011 being Schumacher's strong drive to fourth in Canada. The drivers finished the championship in 7th (Rosberg) and 8th (Schumacher) positions overall.

Every toy or model Ferrari I have, from Mattel Hot Wheels, Maisto Assembly Line, Ixo, and even one Takara/Hasbro Transformers (the original version of Overdrive, which is obviously supposed to be a Ferrari 308, though I don't think they had permission from Ferrari to make it, so there are a couple of minor cosmetic differences).

I have way too much time on my hands. See the tags for the types of cars, I'm not typing all that out again.

Update December 2009: I may yet still have another opportunity to see him race again in person. Schumacher is returning to F1!!

Michael Schumacher won his second World Championship for Benetton (and the team's first constructors' title) driving this very car. He won in Brazil, Spain, Monaco, France, Germany, Belgium, Europe, the Pacific, and Japan, collecting 102 points against second-placed Damon Hill's 69 for Williams.

Pictured is a 1995 Benetton-Renault B195 Grand Prix Car.

It was driven in 1995 by seven-times Formula 1 World Champion Michael Schumacher and Johnny Herbert.

Having won the Drivers Championship with Michael Schumacher in 1994 much was expected of Benetton the following season.

After eight years as the 'works' Ford team Benetton went into 1995 with Renault power. The team was given equal 'works' status with Renault stalwarts Williams and would enjoy identical V10 power to that of the reigning Constructors Champions.

The season started well in Brazil with both cars qualifying in the top four (Schumacher second, Herbert fourth) and ultimately saw Schumacher win the opening round from the Williams of David Coulthard and take fastest lap. Herbert retired from the race after being taken taken out by Ligier's Aguri Suzuki.

However, the top two cars were disqualified from the results after the Elf fuel used by both Benetton and Williams was found to be different from the control sample supplied at the beginning of the year. Both teams appealed the decision and had their results re-instated, although the teams lost their Constructors points from the race.

The second round in Argentina was more problematic for Benetton with the B195 not being suited to the circuit. Schumacher qualified third with Herbert back in eleventh. The team had a quiet race with Schumacher finishing third (with fastest lap), over thirty seconds behind the race winning Williams of Damon Hill. Herbert made progress in the race and finished a lapped fourth.

The third round at Imola saw Schumacher take Pole Position for the San Marino Grand Prix. In damp conditions, Schumacher led the early stages of the race but decided to take a gamble and change to slick tyres. It was a gamble that didn't pay off. Shortly after his pit stop the German lost control of the car and slammed into a tyre wall to end his day early. Herbert finished seventh and out of the points, two laps down of race winner Damon Hill.

The Spanish Grand Prix at Barcelona was where the team's season took off in style. Schumacher again took Pole Position and went on to dominate the race, taking a comfortable victory. Damon Hill had been running second but suffered a gearbox failure on the final lap that allowed Johnny Herbert to finish second and score the first podium finish of his Formula 1 career and gave Benetton their first 1-2 finish since the 1990 Japanese Grand Prix.

The following race in Monaco again saw Schumacher romp home to victory in the principality for the second year in succession with Herbert coming home a lapped fourth.

Round 6 in Canada turned into a nightmare for the team. Schumacher qualified on Pole Position and dominated the race until twelve laps from the finish when a gearbox glictch forced him into the pits. After a steering wheel change Schumacher rejoined the race and finished fifth. Herbert had been eliminated on the first lap after being harpooned by McLaren's Mika Hakkinen at the circuit's hairpin.

The French Grand Prix at Magny Cours saw another dominant victory for Schumacher with fastest lap to extend his championship lead. Herbert was once again eliminated early on, this time being hit by Ferrari's Jean Alesi on the third lap of the race. Things would get much better for the Englishman in the next race at Silverstone.

The British Grand Prix saw Schumacher and Hill swap the lead during their respective pit stops. Late in the race Schumacher was heading for another victory when Hill made a clumsy attempt at an overtake and took both cars out of the race. This left Johnny Herbert, who had been running third, to inherit the lead and he went on to claim his maiden victory on home ground.

Next time out in Germany Hill spun out of the lead at the start of the second lap which left Schumacher to romp home to an undisputed victory in front of the home crowd. Herbert finished a distant fourth.

The Hungarian Grand Prix was another circuit that just didn't suit the B195. Schumacher ran in second position for most of the race but retired late on with a fuel pump failure and was classified eleventh. Herbert did salvage some points for the team by coming home a lapped fourth.

The next round in Belgium saw mixed conditions for qualifying. Herbert managed to qualify fourth but the rain had started by the time Schumacher went for a flying lap and he could qualify only sixteenth.

Herbert took the lead of the race mid-way round the first lap but was passed on the second, although he did lead for two more laps shortly after. He eventually dropped down the order and finished out of the points in seventh.

Schumacher, meanwhile, had been carving his way through the field with a typical wet weather masterclass. Despite driving on slicks on a wet track for a number of laps he made his way to the front and took a brilliant victory from the eighth row of the grid.

The Italian Grand Prix at Monza was a carbon copy of the Silverstone race. Schumacher and Hill were running second and third when they came up to lap the Footwork of Taki Inoue. Schumacher passed the Japanese driver cleanly but Hill mis-judged his braking and slammed into the back of the Benetton taking both cars out of the race.

Once again at the end it was Herbert who stayed out of trouble to claim his second win of the season.

The next round in Portugal was dominated by David Coulthard who went on to take his maiden victory with Schumacher managing to split the two Williams cars to finish second. Herbert ended the race a lapped seventh.

The European Grand Prix at the Nurburgring was held in tricky conditions but saw Schumacher pull off a brilliant overtake around the outside of Jean Alesi late in the race to claim his second home victory of the year. It was a result that also saw him get within touching distance of winning the championship, arch rival Hill having crashed out earlier in the race. Herbert finished fifth, one lap down on his team-mate.

The Pacific Grand Prix at Aida in Japan saw another dominant drive from Schumacher and the victory handed the German his second world title with two races to spare. Herbert scored a solitary point for sixth position.

The next round at Suzuka saw Schumacher take another win with Herbert finishing third to give the team another double podium. That result was enought to clinch the Constructors Championship for Benetton, the team's first (and what would prove to be only) constructors crown.

The final race of the season in Australia ended on a sad note with Schumacher being eliminated from his last race for Benetton in a mid-race collision with Jean Alesi's Ferrari Ironically, Schumacher would be in the Ferrari and Alesi in the Benetton the following year. Herbert had been running second late in the race but retired with driveshaft failure in his final race for the team.

At the end of the season, the Benetton drivers would finish first (Schumacher) and fourth (Herbert) in the championship. With eleven wins from seventeen races Benetton comfortably took the Constructor's Championship.

2006 Treasure Hunt Series - Sooo Fast. Rare car.

Treasure Hunt (sometimes T-Hunt) is a line of Hot Wheels cars which were introduced by Mattel in 1995. It consists of 12 cars every year; one released per month. The original production run started at 10,000 pieces worldwide, and has since grown due to the demand and increasing popularity of Hot Wheels collecting.

In 2007, Mattel introduced a two-tiered Treasure Hunt system. A regular Treasure Hunt would feature normal enamel paint and normal wheels compared to other Hot Wheels cars. The production of these is rumored to be greater than Treasure Hunts of the past. The super Treasure Hunt is much rarer and is like Treasure Hunts of the past, featuring premium wheels, and Spectraflame paint. All 12 Treasure Hunt cars are planned to be released in both regular and super versions.

Seven-Time World Champion - Michael Schumacher

The Ferrari F2004 was a highly successful Formula One racing car designed by Rory Byrne, Ross Brawn and Aldo Costa for the 2004 Formula One season. Heavily based on the previous season's F2003-GA, The F2004 continued the run of success the team had enjoyed since 1999, winning the team's 6th straight Constructors' Championship and 5th straight Drivers' Championship for Michael Schumacher, his 7th, and final, world drivers' title in 2004. It is one of the most dominant cars in the history of Formula One. The car was as successful as the equally dominant F2002, winning 15 out of 18 races, and scoring 12 pole positions including many lap records. Michael Schumacher won a single-season record of 13 races (Sebastian Vettel equaled this number in 2013)

This Iveco Domino Orlandi-bodied motor coach was custom built for Scuderia Ferrari's Formula 1 operations in 2001 and remained in service with them until the end of the 2005 season. This was a period during which Ferrari dominated Formula 1, its lead driver Michael Schumacher securing the last four of his seven World Championships (2001-2004).

Iveco is an Italian manufacturer based in Turin and therefor the obvious choice of transportation for what is, in effect, Italy's national motor racing team. Some 12 metres in length, this Domino Orlandi HDH model rides on air suspension and is powered by a 380 hp engine, which drives via a ZF eight-speed automatic transmission.

Ferrari's Iveco motor coach was specifically designed for strategic meetings and interviews between the drivers – Schumacher and Rubens Barrichello – and other team personnel. In its original configuration, the vehicle featured two separate apartments with independent access, each of which was equipped with an LCD television, computer table, satellite telephone, internet connection, enclosed shelving, and wardrobes. In addition, each had its own physiotherapy table for post-race treatment.

The Iveco's next owner commissioned a full conversion into the ultimate luxury motor home. This involved making numerous improvements to the specification, which now includes upgraded electrical and mechanical components, a complete bathroom with ceramic lavatory, independent heating and air-conditioning systems, onboard 220-volt diesel generator, a Bose home theatre system, and a Hastens Luxuria double bed.

The current owner purchased the vehicle in 2009 ; maintained regardless of cost, it has covered fewer than 90.000 km from new and is described by the vendor as in overall very good condition. Finished in Rosso Corsa with beige leather upholstery, it still displays its distinctive 'Scuderia Ferrari' branding and is surely the ultimate in accommodation for the globetrotting motor sports enthusiast. Accompanying documentation consists of a UK V5C Registration Certificate, sundry expired MoT certificates, various invoices relating to the motor home conversion, and a Ferrari Certificate of Authenticity signed by the Team Principal, Stefano Domenicali. An intimate and unique piece of Ferrari's Formula 1 history dating from a period when the 'Prancing Horse' enjoyed almost unprecedented success.
