BENETTON FORD B 194

AUSTRALIAN GP, Michael Schumacher

The Benetton B192 was a Formula One racing car designed by Ross Brawn and Rory Byrne and raced by the Benetton team in the 1992 Formula One season.

This car was driven by Michael Schumacher.

A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away, Ferrari commissioned the Kaminoans to clone the only non-Jedi human to ever have reflexes fast enough to pilot a Podracer: Michael Schumacher. The rest is Podracing history!

Michael Schumacher - Replica

The John Barnard designed F310 was Ferrari’s contender for the 1996 Formula One season and their first car with a V10 engine. Michael Schumacher achieved three victories, three second places and two third places, enough to take third place in the Drivers’ Championship and second in the Constructors’ Championship behind the dominant Williams team. Ferrari changed to the high nose configuration favoured by other teams partway through the season.

Ferrari is arguably the most famous name in Grand Prix motor racing. Enzo Ferrari had raced cars in the 1920s, going on to run a team of Alfa Romeos as Scuderia Ferrari in the 1930s. Ferrari became a sports-car manufacturer in its own right in the 1940s and built its first Grand Prix car in 1948. Since then Ferrari has won more World Championships than any other team.

Happy Bokeh Wednesday!

Wow, been really busy the last few days. I was up late last night processing the model photoshoot images and never got time to post up something for today. I also forgot it was bokeh Wednesday. Luckily I brought my gear with me to work today so just looked for stuff to shoot around my office, at lunch time of course ;-)

The 50mm is the best bokeh machine that I currently have (macro is on the to buy list) so I shooting everything from the plants to my water bottle and everything in between. I've had this toy obsession lately so I dug out my F1 key chain with Michael Schumacher's Ferrari on it. I ended up leaving the remote fob on it to show scale (it's pretty small). I shot this laying on top of my filing cabinet in front of the window. I used a little fill flash as well to give it a little sparkle.

This is SOOC except for the crop in Picasa (my favorite free photo program).

I think with some extension tubes the 50mm (nifty-fifty) would make a decent macro lens. It sure is sharp enough! I like the way the DoF drops off so dramatically here. I focused on the right front tire and in the un-resized (10mb) image the writing on the tire is really sharp.

Michael Schumacher (German pronunciation: [ˈmɪçaʔɛl ˈʃuːmaxɐ] ( listen); born 3 January 1969) is a retired German racing driver. Schumacher is a seven-time Formula One (F1) World Champion and is widely regarded as one of the greatest F1 drivers of all time. He was named Laureus World Sportsman of the Year twice. He holds many of Formula One's driver records, including most championships, race victories, fastest laps, pole positions and most races won in a single season – 13 in 2004 (the last of these records was equalled by fellow German Sebastian Vettel nine years later). In 2002, he became the only driver in Formula One history to finish in the top three in every race of a season and then also broke the record for most consecutive podium finishes. According to the official Formula One website, he is "statistically the greatest driver the sport has ever seen".

After beginning with karting, Schumacher won the German drivers' championships in Formula König and Formula Three before joining Mercedes in the World Sportscar Championship. After one Mercedes-funded race for the Jordan Formula One team, Schumacher signed as a driver for the Benetton Formula One team in 1991. After winning consecutive championships with Benetton in 1994/5, Schumacher moved to Ferrari in 1996 and won another five consecutive drivers' titles with them from 2000 to 2004. Schumacher retired from Formula One driving in 2006 staying with Ferrari as an advisor. Schumacher agreed to return for Ferrari part-way through 2009, as cover for the badly injured Felipe Massa, but was prevented by a neck injury. Schumacher returned to Formula One on a permanent basis from 2010 with the Mercedes team before retiring for a second time at the conclusion of the 2012 season.

His career was not without controversy, including being twice involved in collisions in the final race of a season that determined the outcome of the world championship, with Damon Hill in 1994 in Adelaide, and with Jacques Villeneuve in 1997 in Jerez. Off the track Schumacher is an ambassador for UNESCO and a spokesman for driver safety. He has been involved in numerous humanitarian efforts throughout his life and donated tens of millions of dollars to charity. Schumacher and his younger brother, Ralf, are the only brothers to win races in Formula One, and they were the first brothers to finish 1st and 2nd in the same race, a feat they repeated in four subsequent races.

In December 2013, Schumacher suffered a serious head injury while skiing. He was airlifted to a hospital and placed in a medically induced coma, having suffered a traumatic brain injury. As of 7 March 2014 Schumacher remained in a coma and in a critical but stable condition.(Wikipedia)

Michael Schumacher, pictured here during qualifiying for the 2012 Formula 1 Japenese Grand Prix, announced in Japan that he would be retiring from the sport at the end of the season.

'Schumi' is in his third season with Mercedes AMG Petronas after his comeback from his first period of retirement.

At Suzuka he qualified 12th fastest but started the race from 22nd following a 10 place grid pentalty for causing a collision at the last Grand Prix in Singapore.

Schumacher, 40, is a seven time F1 World Champion and arguably the greatest racing driver of all time.

Michael Schumacher negotiating the turn 10 hairpin at the 2010 Grand Prix du Canada. I like this picture very much. I panned the Mercedes as it accelerated away from the apex and turned right.

This image really asked alot of the equipment I was using. I was panning the subject , which changed direction, accelerated towards me and moving at a decent pace. Without an image stablization lens, I was surprised I was able to get this image, the Nikon D300s did a good job of tracking the car while focusing with a old type screw drive autofocus in the lens. Shot at 1/60 of a second, f11, 185mm (277mm equivalent) using 80-200mm 2.8D supported by a monopod. Due to the directions, axis of the subject and the relatively slow shutter speed, it took multiple shots of multiple passes to grab this image.

There is motion all around, yet Michael's Helmet is sharp. The contrast is quite unique here; the car is silver, the tires are black and the tarmac is some where in between - all flat looking, then the bright red helmet of Michael Schumacher.

This was the first Jordan Formula 1 car and proved to be a sensation, the team ending their debut season fifth in the Constructors Championship, recording a fastest lap in Hungary.

It was driven by Andrea de Cesaris, Bertrand Gachot, Roberto Moreno and Alessandro Zanardi.

However, it is probably best known for being the car in which seven-time World Champion Michael Schumacher made his Formula 1 debut in Belgium. It was his only race in the car and he was in a Benetton for the next race in Italy.

Sorry it's no clearer. I was still using a 35mm camera back then.

So last weekend we were lucky enough to go to the Formula One weekend at Silverstone, along with 300,000 other race goers.

This is a slideshow of some of the snaps taken there, when we were lucky enough to get a decent look at the track, I think the vast majority of these shots are taken through fencing, which reduces contrast on most shots and depending on aperture, panning etc gives a mesh effect, which I think for some might add a little atmosphere, dunno.

Anyway snaps are of Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup, GP2,GP3 and Formula 1 Santander British Grand Prix, and the odd shot from around the circuit, rather than bore you with a batch of stills, I thought I would do a 'vid'.

Highlights other than the amazing cars, the very committed Jenson button fans (2:40), a group who each had just one letter on their tee-shirts so when seen walking in a group line together spelled out Jenson on the front and Button on the rear, we just wondered about the organisation required to go to the toilet and other things.

Also note the typo on the main boards (2:45), proclaiming the next event would be the F1 Garnd prix, maybe a bit petty (especially coming from me) but unless someone tells me that is how it is spelled in some other language?

Don't feel you have to endure a view, but thanks anyway.

This is the sight that every driver usually saw during the 2004 season - the rear of a Ferrari F2004 Grand Prix Car. This particular car is painted in 2008 Ferrari livery which featured on the F2008.

It was driven in 2004 by seven-time Formula 1 World Champion Michael Schumacher and Rubens Barrichello. This car won fifteen of the eighteen races in 2004 (thirteen for Schumacher, two for Barrichello) to clinch both the 2004 Drivers and Constructors World Championships. Such was the dominance of this car that Ferrari beat second-placed BAR by 143 points - a country mile under the old points system!

The 2008 version was driven by 2007 World Champion Kimi Raikkonen and Felipe Massa. Ferrari won the Constructors Championship, winning eight of the eighteen races that year, Massa winning six races but just missing out on the Drivers Championship by one point. Raikkonen added two victories to finish third in the drivers standings.

Michael Schumacher. FERRARI.

F1 test in Jerez. 06/07/2006

Michael Schumacher marked the 20th anniversary of his first F1 start with a special gold helmet.

Pictured is a 2003 Ferrari F2003-GA Grand Prix Car. The car is painted in 2007 Ferrari livery which featured on the F2007.

It was driven in 2003 by seven-times Formula 1 World Champion Michael Schumacher and Rubens Barrichello.

Ferrari had completely dominated the 2002 Formua 1 season, Michael Schumacher clinching his fifth world title by July and Ferrari the Constructors Championshipo a short time later.

Such was the superiority of the 2002 car that Ferrari pressed it into service for the opening four races of 2003 whilst the new F2003-GA was readied for action.

Schumacher and Barrichello qualified on the front row of the grid for the opening race of the season in Australia but, in damp conditions, Barrichello crashed out early on and Schumacher dropped down the field after pitting for dry tyres to eventually come home in fourth position.

Barrichello finished second in the following race in Malaysia with Schumacher recovering to sixth after a first lap coming together with Jarno Trulli, scoring fastest lap in the process.

For the third round in Brazil Barrichello took Pole Position on home ground but would retire mid-race with a faulty fuel system whilst leading but did manage the fastest lap of the race. Schumacher had a scrappy race, starting seventh and then crashing out in wet conditions to register his first race retirement since mid-2001.

By this stage it was obvious that the new Ferrari was needed but the 2002 car has a superb swansong in the San Marino Grand Prix at Imola with Schumacher taking Pole Position and going on to win the race and score fastest lap.

The new F2003-GA appeared for the fifth round in Spain and was a winner at the first time of asking. Schumacher put the car on Pole Position and went on to a dominant victory with Barrichello coming home third with fastest lap.

A second victory for the F2003-GA followed in the next race in Austria with Schumacher again starting from the front and bringing the car home first with fastest lap, although he did survive a mid-race scare when the car briefly caught fire during re-fuelling. Barrichello once again finished third.

The Monaco Grand Prix saw Schumacher finish third behind Juan-Pablo Montoya and Kimi Raikkonen with just 1.7 seconds covering the top three, Barrichello coming home a distant eight to score a solitary point.

Schumacher and the F2003-GA were back to winning ways in Canada to take the car's third victory of the season with Barichello coming home fifth.

Barrichello finished on the podium in the European Grand Prix at the Nurburgring with Schumacher fifth following a mid-race coming together with Juan-Pablo Montoya. The German was back on the podium in France (third) with Barrichello seventh.

The British Grand Prix at Silverstone was all about Barrichello. The Brazilian started on Pole Position and went on to take a scintillating victory with fastest lap to make it a clean sweep for the weekend. Schumacher had an off day and came home a distant fourth.

By this stage of the season it was clear that Michelin had a tyre advantage over rivals Bridgestone and Ferrari suffered a mid-season slump.

For the German Grand Prix at Hockenheim Barrichello qualified third but was elinated in a first corner accident. Schumacher, fifth on the grid for him home event, struggled with tyres throughout the race and came home a lapped seventh.

The next race in Hungary was no better. Schumacher came home a lapped eighth with Barrichello again crashing out mid-race.

By the time the teams reached Monza for the Italian Grand Prix Bridgestone were back in business. The Ferrari was the quickest car on circuit and saw Schumacher dominate the weekend with Pole Position, race win and fastest lap. Barrichello brought the second car home in third to make it a double podium for Ferrari on home turf.

The penultimate race of the season at Indianapolis saw Schumacher start only seventh but go on to take another dominant victory in tricky conditions with fastest lap. Barrichello had started from second on the grid but was out of the race on the third lap after a collision with Juan-Pablo Montoya's Williams.

The final race of the season in Japan saw Barrichello qualify on Pole Position. By the time Schumacher attempted his qualifying lap the rain has started and saw the reigning World Champion stranded in fourteenth.

Barrichello duly went on to win the race with Schumacher having a scrappy race. However his eventual eighth position was enough to clinch his sixth World Championship and fourth successive title.

Barrichello's second win of the season saw him finidh the season fourth overall and helped Ferrari clinch the Constructors Championship for the fifth successive season.

The actual 2007 Ferrari was driven by Kimi Raikkonen and Felipe Massa. Raikkonen would win six races during the season to clinch his only World Championship. Massa would win three races to end the season fourth overaal.

With nine victories Ferrari won the Constructors Championship for the fifteenth time

The Ferrari F300 was a Formula One car designed by Rory Byrne for use by the Ferrari team in the 1998 Formula One World Championship. It was powered by the 3-litre Ferrari Tipo 047 V10 engine and designed around a narrower track as mandated by the FIA in a series of regulation changes for that season. Resembling the previous season's Ferrari F310B, the F300 was a competitive and reliable car, however it was still aerodynamically inferior to the McLaren MP4/13. Despite this, Michael Schumacher battled his way to second place in the world championship behind Mika Häkkinen. Ferrari also finished as runners-up in the Constructors' Championship.
